Were Jesus, Moses, Muhammad, and Buddha all the same soul?

Mr. said May 21, 8:30 AM:

Was Jesus, Moses, Muhammad, and Buddha all the same soul reincarnated at different times in humankind’s existence?
Many believe that Jesus is the son of God. Others believe he was a prophet or just a great man. Each of the Major religions has a great man that the religion is centered on. Is it possible that all of these great men are merely one great soul that is reincarnated when humanity needs clarification from God? Despite the differences in the cultures these men came from and the religions they represent there are many similarities in their messages. What do you think? Is it possible? Is it probable? Is it likely?

My thinking: Jesus, Moses, Muhammad and Buddha all represented the same archetype, Universal Love.  They were all here to send the same message, that we should love without boundaries.  They are the same even as they walked different paths.

Blessings!

Excellent response! Where one stands on this will depend on what they believe and to some extent the culture they were raised in.

Wow, you've hit the nail on the head, is it were. But, could you recognize this soul if it took up another body?

Why didn't you mention Ramakrishna and Chaitanya, Krishna and Zoroaster and a few others?

I think I know who this fellow is, but his soul is not that of a human. Instead it is the Maker, taking on human bodies surreptitiously. Further, I think that the response of the creatures to this One is partially governed by the Holy Spirit, which enters the mind of man although man feels it is from himself, as Swedenborg clearly wrote.

Some questions arise. If this One is taking up different bodies in different epochs, is this in fact out of response to human need, or is it instead the divine Fiat, that the Lord's embodiments are a separate project from human embodiments? As Ramakrishna did state, the Lord may come down to “eat mangoes,” as it were, to enjoy Himself in the vast and varied lands which He made and sustains.

Then, if you meet this One, does it confer an immediate boon of salvation, or is it as the Buddha said, for man to “swelter at the task”? Jesus is completed in the Buddha, as He promised Heaven in one place, and in another said that man must work for it.

The Lord may in fact be unreachable, and all the Christian prayers a delusion of false self-glorification. They think to make God their particular friend, when the God who is real will condemn their evil side.

Instead there may be living agents who must be approached first, and if you cannot notice and respond to these agents, it is obvious this word “Lord” can mean nothing to you, however you whine about it.

The Christians think to take God away in their pocket, putting all their evil upon Him as the Source. But I think it is the other way, they are in His pocket, their future not nearly so bright as they suppose.

I focus on Christianity, because in order to make the hypothesis that it is One Entity who Incarnates Himself as the Lord, it is necessary to synthesize the teachings which on the surface seem incompatible. I say the Christians are lost by the Buddha's criteria, for they do not purify themselves.
