A 'Disney" moment?!

Lizzyl said Jun 8, 7:29 AM:

I had an experence the other day that made me a little uncomfortable, but yet it was beautiful.
I have been going to a place out doors to do my qigung and my 24 form T'ai chi early in the mornings. It's in a grove of trees on the campus of an arts school near where I live.
Now I am not one for 'mystical” experences per sey,  but when I was doing a move called “holding up the heavens like a pillar” I noticed that things got very still. This is where the 'Disney” thing comes in. There were birds and other little animals gathered around me-just watching-not running around–just watching. I could not sense any fear in them at all. I went on with my routine and I felt so one with the earth–everything smelled sharper-the grass and the ground and the leaves.
Then when I finished-a bird-blue-Jay I think, started to trill, the sound came up from the earth into the roots of the trees and through the body of the bird-so pure, so unhurried.
For a moment, I felt all my breath leave me.
I am I nuts or what??
I can't quite figure this out. Do I need to?

What sheer delight! I think it's one to savour, not necessarily to analyse. What do you think, Liz?

I don't know if you would call this a “spiritual' experence per se but the other day when I was riding my bike, I took an new section on the bike path. I just rode and rode–time seemed to stand still–I was totally transfixed by the air, sun, the living creatures, a lot of chipmonks and birds.
Any way, before I knew it, I had ridden ten miles. I rode back home and my rear was a bit tender, but it was such a high.

I think it is a times like you describe, Liz, that we are most alive. It is a great thrill!

When you are at one with the universe, the universe replies with total acceptance. This type of event happens to me a lot, especially when wild animals are in the mix. Animals have a way of sensing your true nature and often respond accordingly. I feed the wild animals in my yard. I sustain about 100 birds and 10-15 squirrels, and rabbits with birdseed and wild rabbit food. Many times, I come by after they have been eating a while and the animals just continue eating as if I am not there. They also announce when “the benefactor” has come home.  Wild animals I encounter wherever I am often check me out or are curious about me.

Hey Mr! Can I come and do my Chi in your backyard????
It sound great.
I have been thinking of putting up a birdfeeder on my back porch. I have heard that the birds will eat the bugs that might harm my 'garden”.

beloved
I want to say Lizzyl, yes you are nuts as judged by society. Your moment was/is so special and you can have again  and again. Gotama Siddhartha and many others say that one must look outside the box. Even their box.
I now meditate 24/7. I experience those moments anytime I want to and any place. For many years I thought my practice was a failure. It just was getting it together.
Some times my meditation is “better” than other time, especially when I do “formal” meditation and all my life is meditation. I grok this, among many other ways, cuz little kids stare and stare at me. They are looking at my original me, my beginner me that I let bubble under the surface all the time; the one I am really liviing and they are so pleased with it. It made me uncomfortable at first until I got over that this is not about ego, this is about truth. Animals do the same thing. Dogs I have never met stare and stare. All my life is yoga/movement and breath and chanting/sound and color and meditation and I have a 40 hour job and I meditate all the time there also. So wierd is what you let be wierd. Strange and uncomfortable is asking us to get comfortable with it.

animals love chi and our neighbours cats are no exception - when I do energy work with a group or alone they are there by our feet, they respond and enjoy and accept.

iljung and tai,

wonderful perspectives on how animals tune in to meditation and chi, thank you!

Seems like my plants love chi too.
I have been meditating in my garden and the veggies are running riot.
Seems like our life force can be transfered to things all around us!

I'd agree on that one Lizzyl…our energy affects everything around us including veggies, plants, people, animals, birds, insects…We were doing a meditation with symbols on a special board with geometric designs inscribed on it that had been energised by several groups and a bee came in and circled the board, just like it was enjoying the energy and saying thank you to us - as soon as he'd completed a circuit of the energised board he flew off outside!

I know I am going on ad nausam, but I never can stop being amazed at how things are growing on my back pourch.
My neighbor gave me a Tibeten prayer flag the other day and it just completes my garden space wonderfully.
This is my first time out with a garden too.
I just seem to breath easier these days when I look at my plants.
It is a deep spiritual experence.
Namaste.

Roots in my Garden

Posted on Jul 15th, 2009 by  Lizzyl

Today I was tending my 'garden”. As I pruned. retied, and watered, I realized that this is becoming a deeply spiritual experience for me and also one that is connecting me to my own “roots”…
