Sweet scented leaf
I watch as you plunge and swoop downwards
Earth mother catches your limp body
Caressing it, greeting it, cradling it
Against it's own crumbling earthen skin

Leaves damp with colour lie fragrantly resting
Hues of cherry and amber bring light to our darkened days
Leaf bodies resting, stacked one against the other in abandonment
Autumn is a time for surrender

Earth speaks its soothing melody
You are mine she croones
Surrender to me, rest here for a while
Whisper your faded dreams in my gnarled old ears
I have all the time in the world

Solid, wholesome, protective earth
