dear one, i can totally relate... it is so important to keep one's boundaries clear when empathising otherwise we are lost in the seas of others' emotions instead of throwing a lifebelt from solid ground of being... love and light

Listen closely
Cause now I'm here
I'll open up
then disappear

My inner voice
Is loud and clear
I know who I am
When no one is near

But being alone
Isn't always that easy
There're people around
Keeping me busy

Talking with others
Relating completely
I try hard to listen
And keeping it sympathy

But for me it's more
It crosses a line
Where their story goes
Way beyond mine

The pain, the joy
The things they feel
Consume me inside
Making it real

It clutters my soul
With thoughts and emotions
I forget who I am
Without any notion

The lives they've lived
The journeys they're on
The people they miss
The ones who are gone

The love of their life
The drama with peers
The things that they want
and all of their fears

Oh Look what I'm doing
I'm talking about others
This is about me
but you'll soon discover

The voice inside you
That wants to get out
You'll be sharing with me
In no time no doubt

A listening ear
A compassionate soul
These moments are few
So you better console

What are your issues
What do you need
What keeps you up
What makes you succeed

Notice the trust
In just this short time
Keep pouring your heart out
Won't cost you a dime

Something is wrong
Why won't they listen
Upset with yourself
and the moments you're missin'

I know what you mean
Life's sometimes not fair
I wish I could change
All the things you can't bear

But these moments fly by
Embrace what you can
It's not always easy
And I understand

Oh look once again
I've ended up missing
It feels like I'm here
It feels like I'm listening

But I've molded myself
To someone not me
A projection of you
Is the person you see

Uncover the truths
That are hidden in you
By talking to me
You might find a clue

Even though I'm not here
For now it's ok
This is my life
And all I can say

Is now you know
Why it's hard to be me
When I keep losing myself
In empathy
