The Blessing (Thank You)

I want to thank you for this blessing
A blessing of anger
A blessing of pain
A blessing of getting to know my strength

You have given me a blessing
A blessing I can’t describe
Only I know the depths at which
This blessing resides

I watch you in your anger, your pain
The time it takes you to process me
Your desperate need to control me
Because I stand unafraid of you

What is it that incites you so?
It’s not about me
I recognized your fear long ago
I watched you then and wondered
If you’d ever change
Grateful not to be you

Now we have a child together
And couldn’t be farther apart
It makes me sad, this state of flux
But I am wise enough to know
I can’t change you
And so I make no attempt

I just choose to reside in peace
And let you live in your anger
Fear of the unknown controls you
A state I would never envy

The day I lose my compassion for you
Is the day I die
I need to rise above this hatred
For my son’s sake
And recognize the pure beauty of your soul
And how it has served me

And so I thank you for the blessing
The blessing of anger, the blessing of pain
For my soul has blossomed
And I am stronger for it

I can sooooo…identify with this…..But they say that our partners are our greatest gurus. Who have been selected by us for their awesome ability to dig up our stuff….perfectly…
