My heart bleeds from another time
And yet here I sit pondering you
Knowing who you are
And that another woman is having your child

I didn’t know this would hurt so much my love
But I can’t seem to get over the fact that
We are here together and have never officially met

The heart ponders true love only once
And since I cannot find you, I am left
With no choice but to live alone

If only you could look into my eyes once more
You would recognize me and not let me go
Face to face there could be no denial of who we are
And who we have been

These longings only cause more tears and my heart cracks
And shatters again and again
The depth of my pain brings me to my knees
Face in hands, weeping.

To understand this love, you must first die
And be born again only to discover
You may not ever have it again
And may be tortured by the sight of another
Until the bed of your death

‘and that other woman is having your child’

It says so many things this line.

It tells me of deep, deep longing. It tells me of real jealousy … one that would kill for what it wants - I mean a look that would kill … and maybe, more.

It also speaks to me of the unborn child, and the love that’s it’s going to get and that the ‘I’ character will somehow give this child all of her love as well, even if she never meets it.

Great stuff Ki and very powerful … somehow I can’t help but feel the ‘I’ character of the poem doesn’t really believe what she’s saying - she’s just in pain and will live beyond this … not that she doesn’t believe this, but more that there is still a world out there for her … she just doesn’t believe she will ever find true love again … boy she’s in for a shock (I hope) … you know, that thing that happens when you stop searching.
