Your favorite in this list is mine as well: “I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.” It reminds me of a song I was taught as a child in Sunday School at Church: J-O-Y; J-O-Y As a follower of Christ, this is the way I experience true Joy – loving God and loving neighbor. Thanks for the quote….I'll put it to good use! |

Mark,
And here’s another quote that moved me today from the Ashes & Snow amazing experience http://ashesandsnow.org which I wholeheartedly recommend: “The whales do not sing because they have an answer.
***We are because we have joy.*** My revelation… |

Rumi Poem on Joy This being human is a guest house.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
Welcome and entertain them all!
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,

Hello Joy Bringer, Thank you for welcoming me to your pod of joy…..joyful expressions of the heart and soul. I look forward to getting to know each spirit that shares time and space here. I have a poem to post……a poem written the day before the start of this newest war and conflict in Iraq. Little did I know then, that one of my son's would find his way to Iraq….not in the military, but as a member of an organization to help the new government forming there and to teach democracy….It has been hard to accept the fact that he is there willingly…… I walked out into our field, and looked at everything there with a tremendous amount of love and joy for what was before me….and this poem came to me. Joy Ever so silently, in the essence of the moment That arises with the new morn's breath, Almost unnoticed until; Caught within the sunrise's radiant and glorious quest Joy There; in a second of a heartbeat's turn, I look around me and yearn, Then the magic of this moment Brings warmth and peace flooding through me. Joy Radiating ever so effortlessly. My heart caught up within, there is no doubt. So wonderful to invite, So much happiness to share, Looking at all the perfection Our world bears. Joy Wake up to the magic That each day brings. Listen to what is Singing in the wind. Joy Soulful thoughts Straight from the heart. A new way to be, Certainly many possibilities There are 'a waiting To see… Joy Tiny specks of life, Bursting with all their might, Emerge through the soil, How hard was it for them in their toil? Joy Now swaying in earth's soft and caressing breeze, They bend down and whisper their secret with ease. Joy To be alive, to be living To embrace all with simple giving. Joy (c) Wendy Nelson March 17, 2003 Thank you for allowing me to post here. Sincerely, Wendy |

I love the Joy quotes! Here are two more. The voyage which I was born to make in the end, and to which my desire has driven me, is towards a place in which everything we have known is forgotten, except those things which as we knew them, remind us of an original joy. - Hillaire Belloc The same stream of life that runs through the world runs through my veins night and day in rhythmic measure. It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth into numberless waves of flowers. - Tagore |
