What gives me joy?Nicola said Oct 24, 2006, 7:10 PM: |

Somebody asked me today several questions, one of which was, “what gives you joy?” So, what gives me joy? - being outside, enjoying nature with no place to go and nothing to do… feeling totally free to just “hang out” and soak in the sounds and sights with appreciation. - allowing my children to choose what they want to be creating in their moment and knowing that I don’t have to go along for the ride, but I can choose what I want to feel… and I do! Yeah for peace and harmony! - catching myself as I am about to go down an old, well-travelled road to reactions and resistance…”pivoting” and choosing a different path that leads to my feeling oh so good. - seeing a bird outside in the morning patiently waiting on the rhododendron bush - my cue to get outside in the frosty air and hang out the bird feeders. Running out in pajamas and running back in and watching from my windows as the birds happily descend! - finding myself amused that my puppy Molly snuck up on the front porch tonight and dragged off my oldest cat Smoky’s basket and blanket to the middle of the driveway. The antics of these children! - my daughter leaving me a beautiful drawing on my bed as a surprise gift. - reading from our newest book for school, ‘A Little House Collection’ by Laura Ingalls Wilder (Little House on the Prairie fame) and the children just giggling and giggling over Pa as a little boy being chased by a screech owl in the woods. - soaking in the tub by candlelight… loving the solitude and meditation time. - an over-riding feeling of well-being that permeates the majority of my days. - going off for a couple of hours this afternoon by myself to do some early Christmas shopping and finding great gifts on sale! - sharing with you amazing zaadsters and enjoying truly wonderful and real connections… even online! - money in the bank and my piggy bank and everything’s already paid for this month! - reading and writing (not arithmetic though!) - a wonderful husband who adores me and our 2 children, who is constantly thinking of how to make our lives easier, who rushes home from the gym so he doesn’t miss story time and is just so generous and considerate overall.. - recognising from this already long list that I have plenty to celebrate and feel joyful about! Yeah! love, Nicola |
