I guess I live and relate more to the latter than the former.
I believe in miracles, whoever their maker and creator is.
What if Miracles are not what we SEE, but what we ARE?…
What is a miracle anyway? In my eyes and current beliefs, life itself is miraculous and the universe is full of inexplicable wonders, but I have a different ‘definition’ of a miracle that the more commonly accepted one. According to most dictionaries, a miracle is “an event that appears unexplainable by the laws of nature and so is held to be supernatural in origin or an act of God.” And here are, where the contradictions start.
One of the disconcerting aspects of miracles is that they seem to call for God to intervene in a normally orderly and seemingly well-functioning universe in order to produce something special. That said, since most religions conclude that God is our creator, therefore making life itself ‘supernatural’ in origin and even ‘normal’ events and occurences - ‘seemingly miraculous’. In this framework a miracle can be interpreted as an oddity, an exception of some sort to the work of creation, a meddling with a world that is operating well…
From another point of view shared by Voltaire: “A miracle is the violation of mathematical, divine, immutable, eternal laws. By this very statement, a miracle is a contradiction in terms. A law cannot be immutable and violable at the same time…. God cannot do anything without reason; so what reason could make him temporarily disfigure his own handiwork?”
Consider yet another one by George Bernard Shaw: “A miracle, my friend, is an event which creates faith. That is the purpose and nature of miracles. They may seem very wonderful to the people who witness them, and very simple to those who perform them. That does not matter: if they confirm or create faith they are true miracles. “
How about the other extreme, boldly pronounced by Pablo Picasso: “Everything is a miracle. It is a miracle that one does not dissolve in one’s bath like a lump of sugar.“
Are you not surprised that people will consider and declare a miracle the spontaneous appearance of a saintly image and not the incredibly intricate movements of our fingers, the amazing overnight blossoming of a flower, a child turning sounds into words, a bird’s first attempts to fly or the indescribable calm before and after the storm,… Have you considered that may be the same energy, intelligence and power/love is required to turn a seed into a lovely plant or tree as is to turn the water into vapor then ice and then back into rain?
What if the same idea and activity is needed to turn a child into an adult or to even turn the dead into the living? What if the only difference is in our expectations or ability to see, imagine or manifest rather than the power of this ultimate force and energy to make it happen? I am always amazed that we are surrounded by so many incredible gifts, joys and miracles – one of the most amazing of which being our own ability to co-create, appreciate and share them.
For me
MIRACLE means to accelerate the ‘inevitable’. To manifest the ‘unexpected'. To ‘bring the future to the present’ with higher intentions, consciousness and level of energy. To co-create wonders with Joy & Love.
What AM I? Am I the WITNESS of miracles unfolding one after the other?
Am I the MIRACLE itself in all levels, dimensions and realities?
Am I the MIRACLE MAKER, co-creating & enjoying altogether?
Am I the MIRACULOUSNESS itself - the infinite, beautiful process of creation and being?
