There are quite a few movies worth seeing lately from Babel, to Bobby and Conversations with God. But there is one unlikely candidate that may pleasantly surprise you in more ways than expected. And read on before you conclude that it is one of the many cheerful animations movies out there for it is way beyond that…
The title, promotions and trailer of Happy Feet actually do not even hint nor reveal the much deeper issues and themes the movie touches and explores in an amazingly accessible and direct way for both adults and children alike. I bet you would not expect to hear or be prompted to deeply feel and think about saving the penguins and the planet and the impact of humans on the environment and our ability to be both the killer and the savior of all animal life. Or to laugh at the religiously fanatic dialogues and the new age and enlightenment jokes of the guru, so creatively portrayed/voiced over by Robin Williams. Or to empathize deeply with hearty laughs and happy tears to the spiritual search and desire for authenticity of the little cute penguin Mumble, or the myriad relationship lessons and the emotional depth of the interactions b/n these endearing little creatures…

And the 'integral' perspective achieved from presenting the inner and outer journey of the main character and his rise from an ousted from his family and community soul to a brave spirit mastering the courage to not only stay true to himself, his nature and unconventional gift of tap dancing in a singing world, but to use his inner gifts and talents to save his community, appeal to the good nature of the dangerous humans and thus change and save the world…. From a search for a soul mate to a search for his inner self, to caring for the community and even embracing all animals and the whole earth and universe, the messages, images and story will take you through an unexpected journey through the light and dark days of his soul and lovely spirit in an amazing way…

Add to that the extraordinary animation effects, the talented voice overs of many celebrities such as Robin Williams, Elijah Wood, High Jackman, Nicole Kidman & more, and the truly happy music and dances and you will experience a feast for body, mind and soul indeed… I laughed and cried happy tears throughout and danced my feet for most of it while my soul danced in the delight of the idea of how one such bold little penguin can literally change not only his life and the reality of his family, friends and community, but by being so courageous, authentic and genuinely happy, he can reach out and cross even the inter-species divide to make connection on all levels from the physical, through the emotional to the spiritual and thus transcend all fears, limitations and illusions of separation to show us that we are indeed ONE, and a HAPPY ONE indeed with happy Soul, Spirit AND Feet…
The humor & quotes are memorable as well so 'Give me a Fin' & go move those Happy Feet! Share your experience if you want to - by commenting here on in my blog :)
