Know your destiny

The individual destiny depends on one’s endeavor and progress towards the New Becoming. If you repeat the ennui of the meaningless patterns of the old world, you are tied and chained to the knots and then you go on reaping the old harvests. In spirit and mind, in your aspirations and hopes, you may be a free man. We may be all so, more or less. But in external life, in action, there are hundreds of bindings and chains and obstructions. Courses are conditioned, as it were controlled by some other forces. Even during the time of early Vedas, the seers found that the luminaries, the stars and planets have a say in our lives. There were endeavors to know about the underlying principles. And the result is the principles of astrology. Through astrology, we may know our potentialities and shortcomings, and then determine our courses, direct our energies properly and take our precautions and appropriate steps. However, Astrology is not absolute. Everything that goes in society in the name of Astrology is not Truth. Reason and logic and science have great values, which should not be ignored while taking up astrological studies. Superstitions should never be allowed to govern your life, or govern astrological deliberations.Destiny, too, is not absolute. And stars do not have all the say in shaping your destiny. They are only indications. The Divine Will is the ultimate, and my will (and in your case, your will) is ' the first instrument' of the Divine Will, in the language of Sri Aurobindo. The Mother, Mira Alfassa, wrote to one of Her disciples:“Won't you let the Lord be stronger than the horoscope? For the Supreme Lord, there is no horoscope which is absolute.”   The horoscope is the celestial circumstance you are born in. You should know in which circumstances you are born, where are you, and whither.
