KB101: Read, Blog, Read, and Blog Some More

~C4Chaos said Mar 14, 2006, 2:26 AM:

Read, blog, read, and blog some more. If you’re a lazy reader, chances are you’re a lazy blogger. Read books. Read e-books. Read other blogs, leave comments, engage discussions but don’t get lost in time-wasting stupid lemon eating debates.

Use this thread to post your favorite books, especially those that can help us in improving our blogging powers.

I keep my favorite books and books to read in my Books That Don’t Suck list. But below  are the top books that had a big influence in my blogging adventure.

So what are your favorite books?

Disclaimer 1: The books above were cut-and-pasted from my list of Books That Don’t Suck so my Amazon associate code is embedded in the hyperlinks. This means that I will get a very small cut if you buy the books from here. I might as well make something out of these referrals so I can buy more Caramel Macchiato. Given enough coffee, I could rule change the world! :)

Ok, so I have an honest question for you, which could have also been posted on a few of the other discussions: How are you able to consume SO much information (books and the web)?:) Seriously. Do you have some method, suggestions for the rest of us mortals? I completely agree with what you are saying. The more I'm reading, be it in cyberspace or meatspace, the more energy and worhwhile posts I have to offer. When I'm not, it just feels dead.

So, any suggestions?

huh?! there's no mystery. everything is open source. all that i've learned and stuff that i continue to practice are all in this discussion board that you are reading. so my suggestion? just go through them, follow the hyperlinks and assimilate what you can. i'd be lying if i say that there's a short cut or an easy way. cheers my friend. you're doing great.

Just substitute the words “blog” for “write,” and  “blogger” for “writer.”

Stephen King has a very simple formula for learning to write well: “Read four hours a day and write four hours a day. If you cannot find the time for that, you can't expect to become a good writer.”

Of course, this is not everyone, only those who are passionate enough to take this hyper-evolving artform to the next level. But it's still a great act to follow.

These are all the books that I've read recently that don't suck:

I would have added The Bhagavad Gita, but I can only support about a third of that book (if that!).  The rest seems to be pretty fundamentalist pre-postconventional.  Granted, a couple of the books I listed above could not be considered integral, they can at least be viewed through an integral lense and interpreted better than what might be conventionally done.
