Read, blog, read, and blog some more. If you’re a lazy reader, chances are you’re a lazy blogger. Read books. Read e-books. Read other blogs, leave comments, engage discussions but don’t get lost in time-wasting stupid lemon eating debates. Rebecca Blood: The Weblog Handbook: Practical Advice on Creating and Maintaining Your Blog Natalie Goldberg: Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within Stephen King: On Writing William Strunk Jr.: The Elements of Style, Fourth Edition Malcolm Gladwell: The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference Ray Kurzweil: The Singularity Is Near : When Humans Transcend Biology Tim Berners-Lee: Weaving the Web : The Original Design and Ultimate Destiny of the World Wide Web by its Inventor Robert Powell: Talks With Ramana Maharshi: On Realizing Abiding Peace and Happiness So what are your favorite books? Disclaimer 1: The books above were cut-and-pasted from my list of Books That Don’t Suck so my Amazon associate code is embedded in the hyperlinks. This means that I will get a very small cut if you buy the books from here. I might as well make something out of these referrals so I can buy more Caramel Macchiato. Given enough coffee, I could |

Ok, so I have an honest question for you, which could have also been posted on a few of the other discussions: How are you able to consume SO much information (books and the web)?:) Seriously. Do you have some method, suggestions for the rest of us mortals? I completely agree with what you are saying. The more I'm reading, be it in cyberspace or meatspace, the more energy and worhwhile posts I have to offer. When I'm not, it just feels dead. |

Just substitute the words “blog” for “write,” and “blogger” for “writer.” Stephen King has a very simple formula for learning to write well: “Read four hours a day and write four hours a day. If you cannot find the time for that, you can't expect to become a good writer.”Of course, this is not everyone, only those who are passionate enough to take this hyper-evolving artform to the next level. But it's still a great act to follow. |
