Yes! This is what I’m talking about (well I mean, I will be talking about it in a second or two). Once or twice a while back I racked my brain about how de-centering from the ego and expanding the ego/seperate-self is the same damn thing. I don’t know why, but everytime I’d get it in my head (samedamnthing) I’d get it mixed up (can’t be samedamnthing). This was a particularly confused time as I was reading about eight spiritual teachers at once. Apparently I got so crazy about it I broke down, then broke through and wrote in my journal (speaking purely about the ego): A DE-CENTERING FROM SEPERATENESS AND AN EXPANSION TOWARDS INCLUSIVENESS! A DIS-IDENIFICATION WITH BINDING EGOCENTRIC FORMS AND AN EXPANSION AND IDENTIFICATION WITH INCREASINGLY INCLUSIVE AND INTEGRATIVE FORMS UNTIL AT LAST IT ALL COLLAPSES INTO INFINITY!!! Somebody could’ve muttered ‘yeah… unfold and enfold you twit.’ But no. I was left alone in this. One diagram (Robert Kegan’s but I sort of adapted it to fit my purpose) shows how the ego stays the same size but with increasing development the bubble the ego inhabits grows until the ego is nothing but a speck and then… goodbye speck (or, might we say the speck.. the blackness of the speck… is what we collapse into? That’s what we’d say if the speck was a non-illusory self-sense [unique and gifted] … reconciled to the inherent Brahmanic nature of reality). So, anyway, I worked it all out in my head and all is well. Applying the whole crazy schebang to blogging was brilliant though. Brian David |
