Prior to that I had experimented with various meditation techniques. I learned TM while in college, practiced it for awhile, then left it while immersing myself in a fundamentalist Christian sect. After that I learned a lama yoga meditation technique from the Astara mystery school, as well as some psychic meditation techniques from the Berkeley Psychic Institute.

But the most stable path is what I'm doing now, which is a very simple set of pranayams to prepare my mind, followed by meditating on Om and then using a mantra received from Sri Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma). After sitting in that state for awhile, I conclude my session with a blessing of love and white light to family, friends, and the world.

With so many techniques out there, a person can get caught up trying to master all of them and never make meaningful spiritual progress. The key is to focus on one practice and then the progress will occur as it meant.

Re: Holosync - The Easy and Powerful Meditation Techinque # Marco tag:gaia.com,2006:Gaia-84894 Fri, 01 Dec 2006 16:05:47 GMT http://groups.gaia.com/kriya/conversations/view/43777#84894
There's more to brainwave entrainment then Holosync. Induced by shatipat. ( The grace of the Guru). To sustain the Shakti (spiritual evolutionaly energy) there are some practices that contribute to the evloution of Kundalini.

For me the Vijana Bhairava works to deepen my menditation experience in a natural way. These techniqes can be done by almost any one any where. You can do all of them but you can choose from them and find a few that are right for you here are some of my favorites:
These are Tantric practices.....

Dissolve mind in the Brahmarandhra.

This is the so-called 1,000 petalled lotus.

28. Fix mind repeatedly at the Dvadashanta.

29. Burn body by fire of Kalagni Rudra issuing from the big toe of the right foot using the mantra Om raksharayum tanum dahmami.

This technique is also described in Kaulajnananirnaya, ascribed to Matsyendranath.

30. Imagine the entire world as being burnt by Kalagni Rudra.

31. Meditate that the subtle constituents of the body or the world are being absorbed in their own respective causes.

32. Make Pranashakti subtle and meditate on it in the Brahmarandhra or in the heart.

33. Meditate on the whole cosmos dissolving from gross into subtle into supreme until the mind dissolves in consciousness.

34. Meditate on the Shaiva Tattva as pervading the whole universe.

35. Concentrate intensely on the idea that the universe is completely void.

36. Meditate on the empty space within a jar.

37. Concentrate on a deserted space.

38. Concentrate on the space which occurs between two ideas.

39. Contemplate on the gap between one thought while suppressing another thought.

40. Contemplate on one's own body as the universe and as of the nature of consciousness.

41. Fusion of Prana and Apana gives rise to a void.

42. Contemplate on the universe or one's own body as being filled with bliss.

43. Contemplate in the delight which arises from a magical act.

44. Contemplate on the tingling sensation caused by Prana Shakti moving upwards.

45. Concentrate on the consciousness between upper and lower Kundalini. This is like internal sexual union.

46. The delight of orgasm is the delight of Brahman.

47. Meditate on the delight of sexual union.

48. Meditate on the occasion of any great delight.

49. The delight of taste.

50. The delight of song.

51. Concentrate on the feeling of satisfaction.

52. Concentrate on the hypnagogic state.

That is the space between waking and sleeping. According to the tantriks, consciousness exists in the waking, dreaming, deep sleep states. There is a Fourth state (Turiya) which pervades all these and the Turiyatita (beyond the fourth) which is the basis of all.

53. Concentrate on space variegated with the rays of the Sun and the Moon.

54. Concentrate on the following mudras. a) The world viewed as a skeleton b) Gathering all 24 tattvas into the body of mantra. c) Keep eyes fixed externally while turning inwards. d) Tasting of whole cosmos in the nature of I-consciousness. e) Remaining in Shiva consciousness continually.

55. Sit relaxed.

56. Sit relaxed, place arms in form of arch overhead.

57. Fix gaze on object whilst directing attention inwards.

58. Keep mouth open, invert tongue to touch palate. Fix mind in the centre of your open mouth and voice a vowel-less H mentally.

59. Sit on soft seat and meditate body sits without support of the seat.

60. Swing.

61. Contemplate cloudless sky.

62. Contemplate entire sky as being in Bhairava and dissolved in the head.

63. Concentrate on wake, dream, deep sleep as being the Bhairava continuum.

64. Concentrate on external darkness of a dark night in the dark fortnight of the Moon.

65. Contemplate on terrible darkness first and then the terrible form of Bhairava.

66. Obstruction of an organ of sense causes spiritual introversion.

67. Recite the letter A without bindu or visarga.

That is, the first vowel without a sound.

68. Concentrate on the end of visarga in a letter.

69. Concentrate on one's own self as a vast unlimited expanse.

70. Concentrate on pain.

71. Concentrate that within yourself the inner psychic complex does not exist.

72. Concentrate on Maya and her Shaktis as limiting factors.

73. Cut a desire as soon as it has arisen.

74. Iccha, Jnana and Kriya of the limited individual are not the same as the essential self.

75. When a desire, knowledge or activity arises, concentrate on it.

That is, Iccha, Jnana and Kriya shaktis.

76. Concentrate that all knowledge is without cause, is base and deceives, it does not belong to any one person.

77. The same self is in every body.

78. Make mind one pointed when under the dominion of desire, anger, greed, infatuation, arrogance or envy.

79. Conceive the cosmos as a juggler's act.

80. Dwell on the reality which exists between pain and pleasure.

81. Think: "I am not my own body. I exist everywhere".

82. Knowledge, desire and activity appear in all objects.

83. Contemplate that the same consciousness exists in all bodies.

84. Free the mind from supports and refrain from all thoughts and their associations.

85. Think: "I am Shiva".

86. As waves come from water, flames from fire, rays from the Sun, so the waves of the cosmos come from Bhairava.

87. Dizziness.

88. Mental dizziness.

89. Concentrate on the reality within while looking outside, so merging the Absolute as Sound (the Shabda Brahman).

90. Concentrate on a bottomless well or as standing in a very high place.

91. Whether outside or inside, Shiva is omnipresent.

92. Every sensation is an expression of pure consciousness.

93. Ordinary consciousness shocked in sneezing, terror, sorrow, deep sighs, flying from battles, at the beginning or the end of anger, can reveal the Shiva state.

94. Ignore the memory of an object and fix attention on the original experience which was the basis of the memory.

95. Look at an object, withdraw it, slowly eliminate the knowledge of the object together with the thought and impressions.

96. Intuition emerging from intensity of devotion.

97. When one object is perceived, all other objects become empty. Concentrate on that emptiness.

98. Mental purity arises above variations in association of thought.

99. Bhairava appears in the I-consciousness.

100. Develop Sama towards all.

Sama means equipoise. See Ecstasy on this site.

101. Reject both repulsion and attachment, cleave to Sama.

102. Bhairava is that which is not an object, cannot be grasped, is void, even in non-existence.

103. Concentrate on space as omnipresent free of all limitations.

104. Withdraw attention from distracting object and concentrate on the object of meditation.

105. Recite the name Bhairava incessantly.

106. Look for the I which exists in all limited "I's"

107. Think of the sense of words which are eternal, omnipresent, have no support, pervade and is the Lord of all that is.

108. The whole universe has the reality of a magic show.

109. How can Knowledge (Jnana) or Action (Kriya) exist in the eternal? All external objects are based on knowledge, therefore the world is void.

110. There is no bondage or liberation, the universe is a reflection like the Sun in water.

111. All contact with pleasure and pain is through the senses. If you detach the senses from oneself, you can withdraw.

112. Concentrate on the Knower and the Known as one and the same.

Science of Kriya Yoga # Ezekiel tag:gaia.com,2006:Gaia-65469 Sat, 30 Sep 2006 06:02:50 GMT http://groups.gaia.com/kriya/conversations/view/65469
* You know the rhythmn of mankind's heartbeat of 72 per minute in our time. You may know that the precession of the equinox occurs at the rate of 1 degree every (71.6) or 72 years, with the Sun rising in Pisces 6.35 degrees at the Spring, March 21-22, 2006 Equinox. (It hasn't seen Aries 1 degree since 221 AD.)

Since the Holy Science of Kriya Yoga of accelerating your spiritual awakening was almost lost to humanity until Babaji released it again to the world through Sri Lahiri Mahasaya in 1861, you probably haven't realized the heartbeat of Nature, in the waters... in the seas... in the winds... in the sounds...

There are 300 waves per hour, 7,200 every 24 hours, which is the heartbeat of the Earth, once every 24 hours! In 300 days there are 2,160,000 waves. And in our time the Sun will transit one Constellation of the Zodiac every 2,160 years! So in about four-hundred years we will recess into 1 degree Aquarius. Time to WAKE UP to the natural world God IS!!!
Re: Crowleyean Techniques http://Shayn.gaia.com Shayn tag:gaia.com,2006:Gaia-57709 Tue, 12 Sep 2006 00:38:55 GMT http://groups.gaia.com/kriya/conversations/view/57235#57709
Please elaborate: any and all info would be appreciated. Luckily the secrecy surrounding Kriya yoga techniques has begun to leak, and there now are various books and websites where some of the information -- not all but some -- is available if you look hard enough.

I have heard all the rationales -- "Some are dangerous ,if practiced without proper guidance." "In the wrong hands, too much power." "You need the direct transmission from the guru," etc. etc. I have the same problem with "initiation" if it also swears the initiate to confidentiality.

"Open hearts, open minds, open information". When you vibrate the traches ('tracheal resonance' in voice coach circles) the vibrations are passed to the circulatory system (blood stream). 10 - 20 loud 'purrs' and your fingers and toes should start to tingle. Blood, like water, transmits sounds very well.

Re: Kriya Yoga http://lilylulay.gaia.com Lilylulay tag:gaia.com,2006:Gaia-56461 Sat, 09 Sep 2006 03:36:57 GMT http://groups.gaia.com/kriya/conversations/view/39042#56461
Do you personally practice Kriya Yoga?

Daily Goddess Audio Program Podcast http://natureofwholeness.gaia.com Gurudevi tag:gaia.com,2006:Gaia-47979 Wed, 23 Aug 2006 15:46:38 GMT http://groups.gaia.com/kriya/conversations/view/47979
Tues. 08/22/06...............Reading from the "Spiral Dance", by Starhawk
....discussion about centering and visualization of the Star Goddess.
To listen to Audio Program go to:
http://odeo.com/audio/1761017/view
~Mahadivi Ananda Miama~ Shaman Spirit Guide
            **************Request your Personal Reading***********
( include your dream or personal question)
This Podcast includes intuitive and creative forms of thinking needed for personal growth and artistic expression. It contains a well rounded mixture of techniques that address the many different areas of life; physical, vital, mental, intellectual, and spiritual. These include breathing to awaken the life force, meditation, yoga postures, mantras, sexual spirituality techniques and practices to move vital energy and open the heart.

Kriya Yoga is revealed by Sathguru Kriya Babaji of the Himalayas, the immortal Siddha-Avatar and fountainhead of all Kriya traditions. Kriya is the practical side of all religions because it provides a systematic approach to awaken consciousness and bring the practitioner into a state of divine power, light, energy, peace and bliss.

Under Babajis inspiration through the ages, thousands of these techniques, or Kriyas, have been discovered by the greatest teachers of yoga often as a direct result of a transcendental experience or specific mastery over some external or internal energy or process (siddhi). It is likely that some of these techniques have been many times discovered and rediscovered independently by various individuals throughout the history of the developing consciousness of mankind.

These practical techniques, in fact, can be found in a significant number of esoteric traditions in various parts of the world, known under different names and practiced with slightly variant forms. Certainly, the scientific art of Kriya Tantra Yoga does not belong to any geographic location or culture since one of its purposes is to transcend such limitations. Indeed Kriya Tantra Yoga belongs to all humanity. However, we rightly honor the origins, particularly India, the great homeland of Yoga and Tantra which even today continues to produce great and noble individuals through these practices. Much of what we know about early Tantra was recorded by inscription on palm leaf manuscripts using encodement metaphors which can only be understood by the initiated.

In practice, Kriya Yoga, which is an oral teaching supported by centuries of written records, consists of many practical techniques for inner change. In essence, Kriya Yoga is all about uncovering and releasing the accumulated debris of lifetimes so that the individual becomes liberated from the illusion that he is something other than the Divine essence.
Re: Cleansing Techniques... http://natureofwholeness.gaia.com Gurudevi tag:gaia.com,2006:Gaia-35018 Wed, 26 Jul 2006 19:30:29 GMT http://groups.gaia.com/kriya/conversations/view/20449#35018

Cleansing ........

Rather than going to extreeme measures using all sorts of advanced cleaning practices; my sugesstion for you is to eat RAW CABBAGE in your daily diet. Cabbage cures hemoroids and causes the hair to grow more quickly.

A regular practice of cleaning with an enema, is beneficial and exercises the interior muscles as well as the stomach mucsles in the yoga exercise called "Uddiyana Bandha and Nauli" or in other words, "Abdominal Contraction" This involves bending over and expelling the air in your lungs with two, hard exhales; then while holding the air out ...... suck in the stomach in a quick motion and then push it back out...... usually done 8 - 16 times inbetween breathing. Repeat this excercise as you feel comfortable. Beginners usually do it three times. This tightens the stomach and exercises the interal organs. It helps with cleaning if a bit of water is still inside the bowel. It is important in the practice of Kriya to keep your system clean, so the subtle energies can better transfer from your lower chakras up the kundalini and to your crown, and back again. It's all about the movement of energy, and the less crud you have blocking this energy, the easier it is to practice your kriya, and have quicker results.

Some forms I recommend are as follows:

The enema- allowing warm water to pass into your rectum, feeling the lower intestine, and then relieving your self of it. You can do this as often as you like, try holding it in as long as possible, you will be amazed at how light you will feel after regular daily practice.

The Flush- Drink a large cup of oil, this to the same thing as the enema, but for your stomach, be near your toilet, as it will induce vomiting. Also a very safe a wonderful way to quickly clean your system out.

I personally have practiced both these cleansing techniques for many years, on a daily basis, and find them very effective. It is important to back this up every month with a week long fast, usually on raw cabbage works best for me. Over time, you will feel every subtle energy flowing through your being every moment of the day, and be in constant communion.
