Mary your post doesn't seem to be coming all the way through.  It shows up in the edit screen but not when you post.

Here is a link to the Massachusetts Coalition to Save Darfur and information about the bill -http://savedarfurma.googlepages.com/

HR180 supports the right of states and funds to divest

  • HR180, the Darfur Accountability and Divestment Act, passed the Financial Services Committee. This legislation would protect the right of states and mutual funds to divest from companies doing business with the Sudanese government and prohibit U.S. government contracts with companies that disproportionately benefit the Sudanese government. Thanks to Chairman Barney Frank for his leadership on this bill.
  • Call your Congressman to support HR180 when it comes to a floor vote on Monday, 7/30.
  • Here's a sample script:
My name is __________ and I'm from __________. I'm calling thank the Congressman for supporting Darfur and ask him to do everything he can to pass the Darfur Accountability and Divestment Act, HR180, when it comes to the floor for a vote on Monday July 30.  As a constituent, it is important to me that the U.S. does everything possible to end the genocide in Darfur.
  • Please call and leave a message as soon as you can!

This is good news!  Hopefully this will start a domino effect for the other states still working on divestment to follow suit.

Below is a map from the Sudan Divestment website on the current status of state divestment.  We need to push those grey states over the edge and get the yellow ones to jump on board!
