Peggy J is still with me.
I found her amongst childrens smiles, in collective prayers, in celebration :-)
How many people do we come across who touch us profoundly, who move us to action, who inspire us to continue in a chosen direction? How many of them are absent from our lives day to day and ever with us in spirit anyway?
On Friday I was questioning the value of a trip to London amongst my busy schedule of things to do back at base. I got into the lift in the hotel and came downstairs, the doors opened and 3 littel African children were waiting to go up :-) I smiled and my concerns melted. I went in to where the breakfast was being served, a place in UK hotels where you can here pins drop, where our restrained conversatons and fear of looking up from newspapers you can cut with a knife! The room however was being prepared for 30+ visitors, tables and chairs being put together, then I saw why, 30 young Nigerian children on route to Heathrow were our fellow guests for breakfast. Their individual and collective laughter, energy and sense of adventure filled the room, it lifted the conversations around the room, normally heads down, no talking was lifted into laughter, lively talk and and a sense of lightness.
I went on to a celebration of the work of a charity, it was being held at a church. The predominance was black African people and the energy was even higher than at breakfast, we sang, we prayed, we laughed and cried, Peggy J and you were with me.
Like any day our time is valuable, we think to one thing over another, but one thing became very clear, tere is no greater value to our lives than that of the presence of spirituality, of togertherness and of common experience.
A unification prayer was shared, the trustees and workers of the charity concerned were called to the front, then all the present ministers and people of the cloth. They all shared prayers out loud at the same time for the group, it was powerful, present and tears fell from my eyes like a tropical storm, the workers were all holding hands, the offerers of the prayers facing them, the congregation calling out it's own 'amen's' and 'alelluia's'.
My concerns for my time had melted as I walked out of the lift, by afternoon they were another world away.
The finding was this … When our batteries need a boost we may fear the lack of time. When our batteries have been charged there is no time BUT the present. In the present, Peggy J and you are with me, everyone is with us. In the present Peggy J and us are at one.
Let us seek only our union, only our oneness, only our connection, only our unconditional appreciation for this moment. Here we are always in each others arms.
Love and appreciation to you and Peggy J
