Science of Mind Magazine Daily Guide for 7/07/08

By Rev. Dr. Ruth Deaton

FREE FROM WORRY

You are like a human transmission tower, transmitting a frequency with your thoughts.  If you want to change anything in your life, change the frequency by changing your thoughts.

The Secret

The conscious thought controls the subconscious and, in its turn, the subconscious controls conditions.

Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind, page 322

CAN you remember one instance when worrying improved a particular situation?  Worrying is merely a type of distraction, impeding us from taking the necessary positive mental steps that may change the situation for the better.

When we worry we are doing a superb job of making up imaginary worst-case scenarios.  While we're caught up in these scenarios, we are not changing anything about our circumstances.  However, when we change our focus from worry to right thinking, we can begin to work on a solution.

In the quote above from The Science of Mind, we are advised that “The conscious thought controls the subconscious…”  What is consciousness?  Consciousness is your awareness of the spiritual essence throughout the universe, including yourself.  Thus, if you want to change anything in your life, first you must “…change the frequency by changing your thoughts.”  As you perceive a new idea, or receive a different perspective, you are guided into a proactive attitude.  Worry is replaced by joy and fulfillment.

affirmation

Freedom is priceless.  I am free from worry as I choose to invite divine ideas into my consciousness.  I keep my focus on positive outcomes.

Reminds me of the important breakthrough in my own life; when one day I realized I was worrying that i had nothing to worry about! Just seeing it, banished it forever [thanks, JK!]

And a couple of days back, one of my friends who'd come for a healing session, saw that too– she had actually brought illness into her body by a combination of thinking thoughts that worried her, for situation that were not really harmful; and then blocking them as they would otherwise overwhelm her…

I Am Rich with the Richness of God

How beautiful was the thought of Jesus when he told us to “consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin; And yet I say onto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Jesus was telling us to identify ourselves with the abundance of nature, the constant outpouring of the Divine Life in goodness, in riches, in everything that makes for happiness and wholeness and success. God cannot fail. the Divine will never fail us if we have implicit confidence in It. But we are so caught up with fear and doubt and uncertainty that it becomes necessary for us to take time everyday to reaffirm out union with the great out-flowing giveness of Life. This is the purpose of prayer and meditation. It is natural that we should wish for the more abundant life. It is right that we should accept it. God has already made the gift; it is up to us to receive it.

Today I receive this goodness. Today everything that I am and have is increased by it. I identify everything I do with success. I think affirmatively and in all my prayers I accept abundance. Whatever I need, whenever I need it, wherever I need if, for as long as I need it, will always be at hand. I no longer see negation or delay or stagnation in my affairs, but rather, claim that the action of the Living Spirit makes prosperous everything I do, increases every good I possess, and through me brings gladness and joy, happiness and success to everyone I meet. Everything I think about will be animated by the Divine Presence, sustained by the Infinite Power, and multiplied by the Divine Goodness.

365 Tao (by Deng Ming-Dao) # 188

Caring

Don't go out looking for good deeds to do,
But if one comes your way, do not refuse.
If you meet someone who is suffering.
                              You must help them.

What good is self-cultivation and wisdom if you just keep it for yourself?  Knowledge is meant to be used, and if you can use it on behalf of others, you should.

There was once a man who prayed daily to a particular god among many in the temple.  Eventually, he noticed that the incense he lit drifted all over - other gods were getting the benefit of his efforts !  He built a paper cone over the incense burner so that all the smoke would be directed right at the nose of his god.  Unfortunately, this turned the face of his god black with soot.

Those who follow Tao believe in using sixteen attributes on behalf of others:  mercy, gentleness, patience, nonattachment, control, skill, joy, spiritual love, humility, reflection, restfulness, seriousness, effort, controlled emotion, magnanimity, and concentration.  Whenever you need to help another, draw upon these qualities.  Notice that self-sacrifice is not included in this list.  You do not need to destroy yourself to help another.  Your overall obligation is to complete your own journey along your personal Tao.  As long as you can offer solace to others on your same path, you have done the best that you can.

Science of Mind Daily Guide for 7/7/09

BLENDED FAMILY

This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalms 118:24

A mystic is not a mysterious person but is one who has a deep, inner sense of life and of his unity with the Whole.
The Science of Mind, page 327

VERY recently, I performed a wedding where the bride and groom were bringing children to this holy union.  When this coming together of two families occurs, it is called a blended family.  Blended families are on the rise.  They have always been part of the fabric of American society.  As the rate of divorce increases, a greater number of children are torn from what we have known as the traditional family.  Now we see mothers and fathers bringing children from previous marriages into blended family situations.

When we look at the circumstances as a whole, blending is the connected unification for a different representation of a newly fused entity.  When we blend families, the common denominator is God, the divine, omnipresent, eternal source that makes us all one.  We are all one blended family for the purpose of loving each other in all things and at all times.  We are brothers and sisters in the family of God.  Once this is realized and really acted upon with commitment and respect, the universe as a whole will make a shift in peaceful ways.  All will feel the effects of such a massive, conscious restructuring.
Change is slow, laborious, collaborative, joyous, spontaneous, and inevitable; however, it is also a natural process through which growth occurs.

Affirmation
My consciousness enfolds my sisters and brothers everywhere.  The blending of the human family already exists in Divine Mind, a loving expression of the God Presence—the I AM.

A Year With Rumi by Coleman Barks

Birdsong from Inside the Egg

There is an excess
in spiritual searching
that is profound ignornance.

Let that ignorance be our teacher.
The Friend breathes into one
who has no breath.

A deep silence revives the listening
and the speaking of those two
who meet on the riverbank.

Like the ground turning green in a spring wind,
like birdsong beginning inside the egg.

Like this universe coming into existence,
the lover wakes, and whirls
in a dancing joy,

then kneels down
in praise.

Love
We are one in the love of God.

Love creates a circle of strength linking us with our family, friends, and mentors.

At the center of every circle of love is the presence of God, for God is love. As we unite with one another in times of celebration and in times of crisis, we are strengthened by the love of Spirit.

Love soothes the mind and heals the heart. Pure love knows no bounds or limitations. It can be shared and felt by people in the same room or separated by miles. The more love is shared, the more it grows. We invite others into our circle of love to be blessed and be a blessing, to give and to receive, to heal and be healed.

“O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.”–1 Chronicles 16:34
