It has come to me recently in one of my Life Visioning sessions (Michael Bernard Beckwith's guided meditation on cd, which I do weekly) that I will know my family is aligned with my intent, when they are happy simply to have my presence in their lives, and not because I am “doing” something for them.
Many moms, and even women without children in whatever family relationship, feel such a burden of meeting other people in their live's expectations, to be “done” for. The woman begins to wonder if she is really loved; and can grow to feel resentment, at being someone else's servant and not an equally valued human being, for the sake of who she IS alone.
Now, it may be that a similar feeling goes on within many men. That they feel that they are only valued for the financial or physical support they bring into the life of their family, for the “objects” they gift to their family, and not valued for the sake of who he IS alone.
Therefore, this advice of Abraham's is equally important to both sexes. A spiritually mature person comes to realize that happiness is a state of being, and not a gift of having another person's temporary attention on their needs, to the exclusion of the giver's needs. Happiness is rather a gift of grace from the Divine realm.
Happiness is like going out on a mild, sunny day full of promise. Happiness is singing heartfully from a confident and secure emotional body. Happiness is knowing one is provided for out of the abundance of the universe, and not by the grace of an employer or family authority figure. Happiness is being in a state of joy for no particular reason; except that one exists on the Earthly plane, at this time. Happiness is having nothing against one's self or any other soul.
Wishing you blue skies and sunshine and happy moments this day - Deb
