9:09 - the Gaia minute

Each day at 9:09, morning or night, in your personal time zone, give 9 minutes of mediation, contemplation and/or prayer for our harmony with Mother Earth / Gaia.

This on-going project is inspired by some Gaians who are also members of this group - Eli, Meenakshi, Nicole & myself as well as others including Siona and OM, who've been involved in the various discussions - beginning in the Eli of the sacred mountains thread at Gaia Networking.  I humbly ask your consideration and participation in the on-going meditative and contemplative prayers, which call has been sent forth in a blog at Meenakshi's page.  This call has also gone forth from Siona in the Gaia Community Vision group.  I quote from Meenakshi's blog below -

A child's game, a search for meaning, a swami's call, a perception of the moment, a director's vision, and a community comes together.  That is the call of Gaia. That is the magic of the Gaia minute. And it starts NOW.

9:09 is like a call; a code to remember to connect to Gaia with the highest vibration available to us. Those who can be on the call, can do so at the particular time. And those who cannot, can connect in heart-mind or simply in light.

We can connect with heart to Gaia heart; intuitive awareness to Gaia's intuitive awareness. And then, we may find, as  I have, that each time we see the time, or become aware of the spiral numbers, we are sending out light and healing [as in wholeness, not correcting anything, but being in balanced connection] to Gaia.

Thank you for this beautiful video, Deb, that starts with the constellation called the Eye of God, and comes to Gaia through the heart-eye. It is beautiful that it first shows our children. I just wrote as an answer to your comment on the blog, that “I told my daughter about this initiative today; and how it seemed to me that it had started from her for me….. And of course, in the way of these blessed ones, she took no ownership of this. But the seed is planted, and we will take it to the children. I know /feel that you have thought of this already Deb.”

As I went to record the reading in my reading journal, I saw that the last one I left in the book (sometimes I tear them out to share) was for 09:09:09.  And a chill went through me - of how this 9:09 time connects - to the energies released on that day.

This is very synchronistic. In the last ten days of Ramadan, which we are in now, one of those days is known as The Night of Power, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laylat_al-Qadr  where  the Prophet
Muhammad received his first revelation from the divine intelligence, the Holy Spirit, Angel Gabriel.   According to Muslims and Sufis that night is the most highly spiritual night of the year where immense blessings are available.

1 Lo! We revealed it on the Night of Predestination.

What is it about this 9  number?  It must be contagious Lol!
I have decided I am going to do the evening 9.09 since I'm not that much of a morning person these days.  

I have a nice story to share. For years I do yoga once a week on tuesday nites with a lovely neighbour friend of mine, her name is Jotje. We hadn't done it together for quite a while because she had a (new) hip operation and we also usually have a summer break. So we decided to start again together. Tonight was the first time. We work according to a special lesson schedule and usually somewhere between 1.15 minutes to 1.30 hour. We usually start anywhere between 7.30-8.00 pm. I told her about the 9.09 prayer time and I said I wanted to do that for a few minutes, so if we weren't ready with the asanas yet, we could just take a break for the prayer and continue the yoga after.  That was fine with her and she said she wanted to join with the prayer and  we decided we wanted to do the Ohm chant.
So we started, and guess what:   we finished a little past 9 o'clock with the exercises which gave us a few minutes to do the  savasana, the relaxing period flat on your back. Now if that wasn't Divine Right Timing I dont know! We decided we will add the prayer time  into our yoga time together!

Nine (9) Nine is composed of the all-powerful 3x3.
It is the Triple Triad - Completion; fulfillment; attainment; beginning and the end; the whole number; a celestial and angelic number - the Earthly Paradise.
It is the number of the circumference, its division into 90 degrees and into 360 degrees for the entire circumference.
Nine is symbolized by the two triangles which are a symbol of male, fire, mountain and female, water, cave principles.

Cultural References
Buddhist tradition holds nine to be the supreme spiritual power, and a celestial number.

Celtic legend symbolizes nine as a highly significant number. It is a central number with the eight directions with the center making nine. The Triple Goddesses are thrice three. There are nine Celtic maidens and nine white stones that symbolize the nine virgins attendant on Bridgit. Nine is connected with the Beltane Fire rites which are attended by 81( 8+ 1= 9) men, nine at a time.

Chinese: Nine is qa celestial power. It is 3x3 being the most auspicious of all the numbers. Nine also signifies the eight directions with the center as the ninth point known as the Hall of Light. There are nine great social laws and classes of officials. In land divisions for Feng Shui there are eight exterior squares for cultivation of the land by holders and the central, and ninth, square is a “god's acre”, dedicated to Shang-ti, the supreme ruler. Christian: Nine is one of the numbers that appears scantly in Christian symbolism. There are the triple triads of choirs of angels and nine spheres and nine rings around hell.

Egyptian mythology: nine represents The Ennead.

Graeco-Roman: There are nine Gods and later nine muses.

Hebrew: Nine is pure intelligence ( eight was perfect intelligence ). Also represents truth, since it reproduces itself when multiplied.

Kabbalism: nine symbolizes foundation.

Hindu: Nine is the number of Agni, fire. The square of the nine forms the mandala of eighty-one squares and leads to, and encloses the Universe.  [108 beads on mala = 9]

Mayan: There are nine underworlds each ruled by a God. We find this reference to “nine underworlds” present in many cultures and beliefs.

Pythagorean: The nine is the limit of all numbers, all others existing and coming from the same. ie: 0 to 9 is all one needs to make up an infinite amount of numbers.

Scandinavian: Odin/Woden hung for nine days and nights on the Yggdrasil to win the secrets of wisdom for humankind. Skeldi, the northern Persephone, the goddess of snow, lives in her mountain for three months and by Niord's sea for nine months. Nine is the sacred number in Scandinavian-Teutonic symbolism.

One of my favorite experiences of going through the Oprah / Eckhart Tolle - A New Earth webclass (see links in that room) was the theme song meditation.  I found a beautiful video of the theme song “We Are One Earth” at You Tube.  

I have this song on my iPod and have been doing 3 repeats of it as it is about 3 mins long.  I do a sitting Qigong type symbolic movement as I listen.  I just love to dance, especially in spiritual energy, in amplifying it through my body.  Our minerals (think bones and other similar structures) vibrate, we are great conduits.

For those interested, I'm doing my 9 mins at 9:09 both morning and evening (when possible) in the Central Time Zone.  Let me know, if you're doing that time zone and I will see if I can sense you there, while I'm in meditation.

Here's a beautiful meditation “One World One Meditation One Prayer” I found last night.  It lasts approx 11 mins and connects the Divine energies coming in through the Crown Chakra with the sun / magma at the core of the Earth.

I had a silent meditation this morning as my iPod needs to be reset or recharged.  Something.  It didn't work.

I thought I would share here, some of the ways that I have been discovering an adventure, in committing to the practice of the 9:09 Gaia Minute twice each day, with regularity.  I thought that by sharing this, it may help others to craft their own unique observances and that will help to build the concentration of energy that our member Eli has indicated in other threads, in other groups -

I am certainly no meditation expert but do have a “meditation techniques” thread in this group.  Until the last year or so, I could not really meditate but I could pray or do spiritual mind treatments and affirmations quite well.  Finally, when I realized it was not necessary to have a totally blank mind, that I did not have to fight with my mind but could relax a bit in that regard and simply observe and take note of my thoughts without attachment to them (and helped by the work of Byron Katie “is that really true?” turnarounds of questioning the mind's thoughts), I had a break-through and have made progress. 

I still do my best “work” energetically, when guided by an experienced voice or music, which for me is usually via a cd.  It helps to keep my mind focused and less wandering occurs.  But I can now meditate, within the silence of ambient sounds, which is not something I could do at all before.

I had a very interesting experience last night.  As 9:09 CDT approached, we were getting ready to leave the district harvest fair.  My children wanted to go and climb upon an old steam engine that was next to a little children's playground.  Though the fair was well-lit, the playground area was not.  It was in darkness.  There were mobile homes surrounding it, as those living at and working at the fair (perhaps the food vendors) were parked there.  There were young teenagers milling about in a group.

While the kids climbed on the steam engine, I noticed the time and then, I noticed a wonderful, very old tree with spreading roots that made a wonderful place to sit.  Though it was not the most conducive place to meditate, it is where I was.  Then, I thought of all the people attending the fair on a Friday night, the next to the last night of the 10 day event, and thought of how most probably do not even have a conscious clue about spirituality.  I thought of the country-western performer belting out those sad songs within the hearing of the whole fairgrounds thanks to amplifying equipment.

I looked up into the canopy of leaves and was surprised to see birds flying around above.  Then, I settled in, realizing my connection to the 9:09 Gaia Minute was doing marvelous work in that moment for the “good” of all around me.  My feet were firmly on the soil, my back and seat attached to a wise old tree and my mind with any others meditating in that moment.  I became aware of time passing for that tree sort of like time-elapsed photography and found that concept fascinating briefly.

It has now become an adventure of discovery, of how I can take my commitment to the 9:09 Gaia Minute and honor it wherever I am, whatever I must be doing at the exact moment.  Whenever possible it will be in the more conventional sense but I won't let my inability to be “traditional” about it, keep me from participating.  That is my commitment to it.  Eli has said contemplation, meditation or prayer.  That leaves lots of space for flexible interpretations.  Sometimes, I am doing a bit of a Qigong kind of movement to music, sometimes I am sitting in silence on my back porch, listening to the natural world, noticing my breath and the wind moving the plants and noticing the light from the sun as it plays around me, even with my eyes closed.  This morning I had to be in the shower and I thought of it as purification, connected to Divine Love energy and the earth below me, felt the water from our well deep in the earth and the breath of the Earth as wind connected by my breath.

This morning I was blessed to have the time and opportunity, to sit in the out of doors on my front porch without interruption, to participate in the Monday 9:09 MST Gaia Minute guided meditation conference call, led by Siona.

The experience was so very beautiful, it is hard to describe in words but the energy, so peaceful and full of love, was so intense I felt it as a trembling.  It was with gratitude that I realized that we each, as a center in our own time zone, had covered the entire United States - Meenakshi - Eastern, Deb - Central, Siona & Dawn- Mountain and OM - Pacific with Lucienne joining in from the Netherlands to link the entire globe together in a simultaneous moment of prayerful meditative Divine Love healing energies.  Tracy also joined us but I do not know her time zone.  I understand she brings her heartful connection to the Divine Feminine energies with her presence.  Anna was there, in our hearts and minds, as we discovered later she could not get in to the call, receiving instead a “busy” signal.

I feel even more connected to these dear, beautiful souls, who I have had so much interaction with in our community but always in a virtual, no time way via the message boards and private emails.  I felt our eternal connections with one another, which I am certain are intended to bring us to this time and place through our special community of Gaia, and to this prayer project in particular.  I am certain that ALL who are called to join Gaia are meant to be here.  It seems obvious but worth saying.

It was an auspicious beginning, coming on this International World Day of Peace meditations.  To see the reality of the Divine Will at work, as explained so often to me by Eli, manifest and know, truly know in my heart that something amazing and beautiful IS taking place and that we are blessed to be alive and witnessing this, in this particular time/space of physical reality.

If you feel even the least bit of interest or curiosity, please join us next Monday.  If you are shy, you don't even have to speak but your energy added to the energies of the others will always make a big difference.  Really.  It is true.

I wrote the following for One Light Many Windows and share it here for it's relevance of our studies and to a commitment to the 9:09 Gaia Minute.
I have written this Spiritual Mind Treatment (based on the Science of Mind teachings of Ernest Holmes, a metaphysical practice), which is a kind of contemplative prayer, for the use of any who resonant with it. 

Read it silently, or if your privacy allows, read it out loud.  As you become familiar with the words and concepts, add your sincere “feelings” into the words.  They become an active principle that the Law of Cause and Effect (Holmes term for the Law of Attraction) uses as a mold and the Divine Spirit does the work to reflect these thoughts in physical reality.

and error patterns are dissolved.
The sense of separation is no more;

forgiveness reigns in every soul,

Oh my goodness. It's been decades since I used that meditation/invocation, and I greeted it with tears of loving recognition. Thank you, Deb. I have never encountered any better. Though I do like your “treatment” very very much!!

Yes, Deb !! I did those annual world peace meditations yearly for a long time from the start. 4AM my time on December 31st! In the early years I would get up at 2 AM and join a group somewhere in town, I had my choice of groups to join even at 4 AM. I guess the endeavor lost its fashionableness for most people….. But, of course, the desire ever resurrects, currently as 9:09 and others.

I think those are my favorite verses too. Especially the word “sanity.” Adyashanti emphasizes that aspect.

After the weekly 9:09 Gaia Minute conference call guided meditation on Monday, Oct 12th - I went to yet another medical appointment and then, to Whole Foods to do my shopping.  There I found a little spiral journal called WeMoon 2010 - Gaia Rhythms for Womyn - Reinvent the Wheel.

I didn't know about this YouTube until yesterday.  When I am in St Louis, I use my new iPhone to do the reading on Gaia I never seem enough time for and discovered that KES, Meenakshi and Eli had put together this video that explains what Eli was thinking and feeling about this “need”, when he brought the idea of the Gaia Minute to us all.
