Daily Word — Wednesday, November 11, 2009
Service
I thank God for those who dedicate their lives to service.

Through the ages, people have stepped forward and served to make their communities, their homelands and the world a better, safer place. I am in awe of the courage and dedication they have shown. Their sacrifices bless us all.

I deeply appreciate the contribution of those who serve humanity. As part of our world family, I also do my part to promote a better life for all.

My prayers are one way to contribute to the betterment of humankind. Today I take time to honor and bless those who have committed their lives to courageous sacrifice and service to others. I give thanks for them and the significant difference they make in our world.

Serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.--Deuteronomy 10:12

Kabbalah 365 - Daily Fruit from the Tree of Life
by Gershon Winkler

Day 315

When the vision-bringer and the shaman encounter the spirit realm, they begin to weaken in their body selves. They shift their form, both spiritual and physical, shape-shifting until they become completely garbed in the form that is channeled to them, ultimately taking on the very form of the spirit that comes to them. It is this spirit form that enables them to then translate the vision or prophetic influx from the spirit realm. This spirit also becomes deeply manifested in their hearts in a spiritual sense so that its image takes the form of a visual experience for them. When the communication of the spirit is complete, the shamans are restored shape by shape to their original form and all their bodily powers return to their original state. It is only thereafter that the vision-bringer can speak the visions to the people in normal human language.

- Thirteenth-century Rabbi Yitzchak HaKohain of Soria,
quote in Avo-dat HaKo'desh
by sixteenth-century Rabbi Me'ir ibn Gabbai

      Daily Word — Tuesday, November 10, 2009
Inner Peace
I am grateful for life. I am at peace.

Life is the energy of God flowing through me, invigorating my body and illuminating my mind. Life is the confident, creative, resilient spirit that expresses through me in all that I am and all that I do.

I give thanks for the aliveness in me. I am grateful for wholeness, for my body's ability to work and rest, and for the Christ Spirit active within me. I appreciate my mind and my mind's ability to think and create.

In any challenging situation, I turn my attention to God, my source of inner peace and serenity. Attuned to God's loving presence, I am shown the way of clarity, insight and right action. Relying on my inner source of life to meet my every need, I am richly blessed and at peace.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts ... and be thankful.--Colossians 3:15

      Science of Mind textbook
pgs 315-316, 315.4-316.2

We must conceive of the Spirit, God, as governing, controlling and directing man's activity. God is not a failure. Therefore, we must resolutely turn away from every experience which has been negative, from every experience which has been a failure, and from every experience which denies God. The mental and spiritual practitioner should deal with his field alone. He is not opposed to the medical practitioner, he does not say, "I cannot treat this man if he takes a pill." Unless the practitioner can prove that the man does not need to take a pill, the patient had better take it if it will benefit him. There is nothing weird about the application of Truth. We should not be superstitious in using the Law of Mind. But the mental practitioner should remain in his own field, which is always the field of thought.

If one is working for a person who has "high blood pressure" or "low blood pressure", after a few treatments he might have his patient go back to his physician for a physical check-up. "But", one may ask, "can I have spiritual treatment if I do this?" This is a superstitious reaction and all superstition is ignorance. If the mental and spiritual practitioner can restore normal blood pressure for his patient, a doctor who can weigh and measure it, can quickly ascertain if the work has been done. When this is understood, the closest co-operation will be brought about between physician and metaphysician. It is inevitable that the day shall come when they will understand each other. They are working in two separate fields, which at the same time have a fundamental unity in one primal principle. But the mental and spiritual practitioner works in the field of Mind alone.

Unlike the physician who must diagnose the disease and work with it, the metaphysician turns entirely away from the disease in his thought. Diseases - whether they be mumps, measles, poverty or unhappiness - all are wrong adjustments to life; this is what disease is. Lack of ease. The mental and spiritual practitioner must turn completely from the condition, as it is, and MUST CONTEMPLATE IT AS IT OUGHT TO BE . . . never as it appears to be.

On the theme of Kindness, I find this Islamic verse with English translation.

Surah 107: Al-Ma'un
(The Small Kindness)

I love the sound of languages not my own and the lyrical sound
of the words in the sung chant.
I appreciate the curving, artistic form of the writing.

A part of me recoils, at the skyline in New York City along with the words "Those who do good deeds only to be seen of men,".

Yet, I must let the ugliness in my belly, that such a combination brings up, be washed in the Love of the Divine and the knowledge that we are ALL children of our Mother Earth and must find the middle way or it will destroy us all.

Peace & Blessings -
Deb

      Science of Mind textbook
pgs 314-315, 315.1-315.3

We would like to be happier, have greater physical health. We would like to have more of what it takes to be happy, whether it be millions or marbles. These things are nothing of themselves. It is only when we think of them as entities, within themselves, that we fall down and worship them; and then that which we should possess, possesses and obsesses us. Every great spiritual genius has taught us to this effect: If you have possessions which possess you, it is better for you to lose them that you may understand their temporary, fleeting form. No great spiritual teacher has denied the advisability of using possessions. Emerson says to cast them upon every wind of heaven, do not hold them. "Beware of holding too much good in your hand."

We would like to help ourselves and each other through using the Law of Mind. This we may do by treatment. What is a treatment? It is something the mind becomes aware of. Someone might ask, "Is it something the Spirit of God does to us?" Yes, the Spirit of God is everything, but the mind must accept, and since the mind cannot accept what it rejects, then the mind must unqualifiedly accept. This is where the trouble comes in. We all have the spiritual power to raise the dead, but we do not believe we have. Our mind does not unqualifiedly accept this. Therefore, that which we are, through disbelief, projects the form of have-not rather than the form of HAVE, but even in taking the form of have-not, it demonstrates that is has what it BELIEVES.

We enter the Absolute in such degree as we withdraw from the relative. The Bible tells us not to count our enemies. It is not easy, is it, to turn from a disease and KNOW THAT THERE IS NO DISEASE, when we know very well that it is an experience of the moment. This is not easy, but the one who can do just this, can heal. The All-Creative Wisdom does not think one thing is difficult and another easy. With God all things are possible. We must know this and this Power of God must be hooked up with our thought, with what we are doing. Energy unconnected does nothing, it is only when it is used, properly directed, that it accomplishes things.

      Daily Word — Monday, November 9, 2009
Let Go, Let God
My spirit soars as I let go and trust God.

As I step out in faith to do something new and daring, I may feel like a skydiver moments before a jump. When I make the conscious choice to let go of my comfortable surroundings, I may experience a moment of fear. But like the skydiver, my fear is quickly replaced with exhilaration and excitement as I soar through the experience with complete trust. I let go of my fear. God is with me and all is well!

Letting go of fear is liberating. As I let go and trust God, I open the way for God's perfect expression within me and in all the circumstances of my life. I don't worry about the outcome, for I know that all is well. I know that God is in charge and that I am being divinely guided and blessed.

Trust in the Lord forever.--Isaiah 26:4

      Daily Word — Sunday, November 8, 2009
Healing
I am open and receptive to the divine healing power within me.

I am filled with the breath of Spirit. The unlimited healing power of God revitalizes me in mind and body. If I find myself feeling a bit run down or harried by the tasks before me, I stop for a moment and become conscious of my breathing. I take a break and breathe in the breath of Spirit.

I become aware of the cleansing, renewing, healing power of God. I let go of outer distractions and slow down, just for a moment, and rest quietly. I breathe in the energizing power of God and breathe out any worries or distractions. As I do, I feel peaceful and calm. I know that with every breath I take, I am filled with divine healing power and revitalized in mind, body and spirit.

The spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.--Job 33:4

      Daily Word — Saturday, November 7, 2009
Seek and Find
I seek God and find true peace and prosperity.

There are times in my life when I am perfectly comfortable just where I am and others when I am seeking something more. If I am seeking, I need to ask myself what it is I hope to find. Is it greater peace and strength? Is it a change in my career or lifestyle? Do I seek a new skill, a greater challenge or an outlet for my creativity?

My seeking may be prompted by the gentle urging of Spirit to be the best that I can be. I trust Spirit now as I turn within in prayer. By seeking God first, I open myself to abundant blessings. I trust God, knowing I will find the resources, strength and confidence to be all I am meant to be. In God, I experience a life of greater joy, wisdom and prosperity.

From there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find him if you search after him with all your heart and soul.--Deuteronomy 4:29
