The people of Saba feel bored
with just the mention of prophecy.

They have no desire of any kind. Maybe some
idle curiosity about miracles, but that's it.

The over-richness is a subtle disease.
Those who have it are blind to what's wrong,

The city of Saba cannot be understood
from within itself, but there is a cure,
an individual medicine, not a social remedy.

Sit quietly and listen for a voice
that will say, Be more silent.

As that happens, your soul starts to revive.
Give up talking, and your positions of power.
Give up the excessive money.

Turn toward the teachers and the prophets
who do not live in Saba. They will help you
grow sweet again, and fragrant and wild and fresh,
and thankful for any small event.

Comfort
God is my strength and my comfort.

On any given day, I may face a challenge. Some challenges, such as forgetting my wallet or having a flat tire, are quickly resolved. Others, such as the loss of someone special or a sudden change in my life's circumstances, take more time and strength. Whether I'm facing a small difficulty or a tougher one, the peace of God is my comfort.

I am comforted as I find a quiet place and close my eyes. I remind myself that I am God's beloved. Releasing all concern, I relax into the presence of absolute peace. Receiving the love of my Creator, I give thanks for the grace it brings.

God is my strength and my comfort.

"Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; ... For the Lord has comforted his people."--Isaiah 49:13

By dwelling and meditating upon the immensity of Life...the whole of It is brought to the point of our own consciousness.

IN the stillness of our hearts and minds, we meditate. Are we listening with Divine Intention to the still small voice that speaks so gently with monotonous regularity?

Is what is usually the background at last the foreground in our meditative state? And, why does the foreground seem so very important and all-pervasive in the wakeful state? Fundamentally, the answer is because the foreground feeds the senses and the ego. It consists of all the sensory modalities that make us who we are in the human/physical expression of being. The foreground is what we taste, feel, see, hear, smell, emotionally experience, and intellectualize. This is necessary and essential to our lives. However, are our senses ego-driven to the point that they are Edging God Out (EGO)? If we take the verse from the Psalmist to heart, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, Lord, my strength and my redeemer," The meditation itself becomes the stabilizer. It causes us to stand still in the moment and incline our ears to hear, to still the tongue in a moment of much-needed reflection, to see the invisible realm of spiritual growth and expansion, and to taste the reality of strength as sweet surrender.

Affirmation
There is no time like the present to become still in a moment of sweet surrender and incline my heart to rest, receptivity, and resurrected splendor in God.; I offer myself the frequent gift of meditation, for it restores my soul.

Tom,

This is a fascinating post...it was wonderful to read of your experiences and your insights. I've never seen NDW speaking in person...I'll have to get his newest book. You did a great job of conveying some of his new insights.

I'm going to the You Can Do It conference in Tampa again this year. I get the same kind of magical experience from that.

I loved that the nude "companion" was a dog!

Right Time
I trust God for the answer to my prayer.

What can I do when I feel frustrated that something I want to happen is delayed or shows no sign of coming about? I take time for prayer.

Prayer is my quiet time, the time when I relax, breathe deeply, and open myself to divine inspiration. Through prayer, I prepare myself to be divinely guided in all ways.

If at any time during the day or night I begin to feel anxious or concerned, I take a God-moment and pray. As I do, I become peaceful and calm. Right now, in this moment, my attention is on what is true for me at all times: I am one with God.

Although the answer to my prayer may not be apparent right now, my faith assures me that it will become clear to me.

"But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience."--Romans 8:25

My apologies. I actually began to read this as soon as you posted it. I got to the part where you are going to your friend's motel room and then, was diverted. It's not for lack of interest on my part, yet my friend here - Alluvja / Lucienne - required my celebration of her life with the coming of her birthday and beyond that, my business life has 4 demanding deadlines since last week, 3 of which I have completed and the 4th should be wrapped up by Thursday evening.

I am going to try and finish reading in the next few days, and will then comment, if anything comes to my mind to say. Not to worry, I'm rarely at a loss for words, as you found out over lunch in Chicago. I found it quite the affirmation of the event, that you came back, even for one day, after attending in 2008. It is easy for me to understand why that would be so.

DISCERNING LIGHT

There is a doorway or an entrance through which the mind must pass on its way to spiritual realization.

The Divine Ideas stand back of all human thought, seeking entrance through the doorway of the mind.
The Science of Mind, page 491

PART of the inscription on the Statue of Liberty reads, "I lift my lamp beside the golden door." The lamp is lifted symbolically upon the golden door of opportunity. It is the light of discernment which makes clear the way to right choices for the highest and best. In Religious Science, we often affirm that when one door closes, another one opens. The truth of this affirmation in phenomenal in its statement. It is implied that only one door opens to us at a time. In reality, many doors of opportunity open themselves to us for our conscious recognition. We chose one door at a time. As Dr. Ernest Holmes writes, "There is a doorway or an entrance through which the mind must pass on its way to spiritual realization." How can we know with certainty the door of greatest good? The answer is simple. It is the elevation of our lamps (i.e. the consciousness raising) through prayer and meditation on a regular basis. We pass through the golden door with much certainty, spiritual confidence, and the realization of where we are and what it is we are to do in this life. It becomes so clear that there can be no indecisiveness. The focus, intent, and purpose are centered on God. All is beautifully, rightly, and perfectly ordered in the human scheme of things when we maintain a single focus.

Affirmation
I lift my lamp beside the golden door. That door is the right opportunity for me. My discerning light of consciousness establishes and maintains a single focus on the Infinite to guide and direct my life through the doorway to spiritual realization.

Practice keeping your life simple and uncomplicated.

Model this behavior for those you feel obliged to lead. Rather than analyzing a situation from every angle, trying to come up with the most viable solution, trust your first instinct and take the simplest and least problematic route. Don't "pole-vault over mouse turds" - by the time you've discussed the many options available to you, the problem itself could have been long behind you had you simply disposed of those rodent droppings with a simple tissue and dumped them into the garbage ! Here's some great advice for you, as well as the leaders of countries who are often so mired in bureaucratic red tape that they become paralyzed: Keep it simple.

Be willing to proudly say to those in your charge,

"I don't know".

This phrase is a symbol of strength rather than weakness, so use it freely. When you teach others to do the same, they'll begin to allow their highest selves to be guided by the Great Way. Keep in mind that nature never forces anything to grow, but is silently and invisibly ever present. Do the same to the best of your ability by not forcing yourself and your ideas on anyone (with sensible precautions for those too young or too immature to take on adult responsibilities).

The simple truth is that neither we nor anyone else really know what's ideal for ourselves or others. There's a silent destiny always at work; there are fortunes as well as misfortunes in every life, independent of our particular opinions.

BLENDED FAMILY

This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

A mystic is not a mysterious person but is one who has a deep, inner sense of life and of his unity with the Whole.
The Science of Mind, page 327

VERY recently, I performed a wedding where the bride and groom were bringing children to this holy union. When this coming together of two families occurs, it is called a blended family. Blended families are on the rise. They have always been part of the fabric of American society. As the rate of divorce increases, a greater number of children are torn from what we have known as the traditional family. Now we see mothers and fathers bringing children from previous marriages into blended family situations.

When we look at the circumstances as a whole, blending is the connected unification for a different representation of a newly fused entity. When we blend families, the common denominator is God, the divine, omnipresent, eternal source that makes us all one. We are all one blended family for the purpose of loving each other in all things and at all times. We are brothers and sisters in the family of God. Once this is realized and really acted upon with commitment and respect, the universe as a whole will make a shift in peaceful ways. All will feel the effects of such a massive, conscious restructuring.
Change is slow, laborious, collaborative, joyous, spontaneous, and inevitable; however, it is also a natural process through which growth occurs.

Affirmation
My consciousness enfolds my sisters and brothers everywhere. The blending of the human family already exists in Divine Mind, a loving expression of the God Presence---the I AM.
