The people of Saba feel bored
with just the mention of prophecy.

They have no desire of any kind. Maybe some
idle curiosity about miracles, but that's it.

The over-richness is a subtle disease.
Those who have it are blind to what's wrong,
and deaf to anyone who points it out.

The city of Saba cannot be understood
from within itself, but there is a cure,
an individual medicine, not a social remedy.

Sit quietly and listen for a voice
that will say, Be more silent.

As that happens, your soul starts to revive.
Give up talking, and your positions of power.
Give up the excessive money.

Turn toward the teachers and the prophets
who do not live in Saba. They will help you
grow sweet again, and fragrant and wild and fresh,
and thankful for any small event.

Comfort
God is my strength and my comfort.

On any given day, I may face a challenge. Some challenges, such as forgetting my wallet or having a flat tire, are quickly resolved. Others, such as the loss of someone special or a sudden change in my life's circumstances, take more time and strength. Whether I'm facing a small difficulty or a tougher one, the peace of God is my comfort.

I am comforted as I find a quiet place and close my eyes. I remind myself that I am God's beloved. Releasing all concern, I relax into the presence of absolute peace. Receiving the love of my Creator, I give thanks for the grace it brings.

God is my strength and my comfort.

"Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; ... For the Lord has comforted his people."--Isaiah 49:13

EGO

Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, Oh Lord, my strength and my redeemer.

By dwelling and meditating upon the immensity of Life...the whole of It is brought to the point of our own consciousness.

IN the stillness of our hearts and minds, we meditate. Are we listening with Divine Intention to the still small voice that speaks so gently with monotonous regularity?

Is what is usually the background at last the foreground in our meditative state? And, why does the foreground seem so very important and all-pervasive in the wakeful state? Fundamentally, the answer is because the foreground feeds the senses and the ego. It consists of all the sensory modalities that make us who we are in the human/physical expression of being. The foreground is what we taste, feel, see, hear, smell, emotionally experience, and intellectualize. This is necessary and essential to our lives. However, are our senses ego-driven to the point that they are Edging God Out (EGO)? If we take the verse from the Psalmist to heart, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, Lord, my strength and my redeemer," The meditation itself becomes the stabilizer. It causes us to stand still in the moment and incline our ears to hear, to still the tongue in a moment of much-needed reflection, to see the invisible realm of spiritual growth and expansion, and to taste the reality of strength as sweet surrender.

Affirmation
There is no time like the present to become still in a moment of sweet surrender and incline my heart to rest, receptivity, and resurrected splendor in God.; I offer myself the frequent gift of meditation, for it restores my soul.

365 Tao (by Deng Ming-Dao) # 190

Nonyielding

                    When in the arena,
                    Yield not to an aggressor.
                    When outside the arena,
                    Affirm compassion.

This world and this society are competitive. Tao uses the metaphor of the warrior to meet that competition. Warriors never yield to their opponents. They may sidestep, but they do not give way.

Whether you are a lawyer, police officer, fire fighter, doctor, businessperson, athlete, or any one of numerous other professions, you compete against either other people or natural forces. But there is a right way and a wrong way to compete. Avoid anger and greed. Use concentration and awareness.

Coincidentally, concentration and awareness are also necessary for spirituality. That is why the follower of Tao incorporates the way of the warrior into training. The warrior and the sage both seek to transcend emotion and petty thinking, to perfect themselves, and to live lives of the deepest truth.

But when outside the arena, do not forget to be kind. Leave behind competitive aggression. You must still have awareness, concentration, and reflex, but the expression will be different. Your compassion must not falter. That is why the combination of the way of the warrior with the way of Tao is the ultimate symbol of versatility. Such a follower of Tao commands the extremes of the universe.

I Witness Everywhere the Beauty of God

I believe it was Plato who said that God is love , truth and beauty. It has always seemed wonderful to me that one of the world’s greatest thinkers should have included beauty as a necessary part of the Divine nature. How evident this beauty is everywhere we look! How wonderful is the landscape, the sunset, or the color of the desert dawn. How beautiful is the daffodil in its sweet simplicity. And what majestic beauty and strength in the mountain and the wave. Everything is rooted in beauty. Beauty is harmony and right proportion. It is symmetry and charm and grace and loveliness. Surely we should identify ourselves with this terrific beauty that pours its warmth and color over everything and seems to be at the very root of our being.

Recognizing beauty in everything and knowing that God is the very essence of this beauty. I include myself, my personality, my individuality, my whole being, in this beauty. I am some part of an infinite harmony, a terrific loveliness, a universal flow of warmth and color and givingness. I claim all this as my own, not because of any particular merits I personally posses, but rather, because of the necessity of its being true. I shall no longer think of myself as separate from this beauty or different from it. Therefore, today, to love, to power, to order, I shall add this other thought—Divine Beauty is everywhere. In this beauty I am beautiful. In this Infinite warmth and color I live and have my being. Its beauty flows through every act; its charm and grace manifest in every movement, in every thought, imparting itself in love to everyone I meet. Today I see beauty in others— the charm, the grace, the presence of the Living Spirit.

RECEIVING MONEY

You must focus on the abundance of money to bring that to you.

The Secret

One should never allow himself to think of, or talk about, limitation or poverty. Life is a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it.

MONEY is only a part of what is referred to as "abundance," however it is a necessary and important part of modern civilization. Past cultures placed a value on shells, beads, gems and other items that they used as currency. We now have a choice of cash, credit card and checks as legal forms of tender.

When we consider God as the source of all that is, this includes the substance from which everything is made. In wrapping your thought around this approach, consider that God can only give us what we take! That's right, take.

When one realizes that God is constantly giving us substance---love, life, energy---it removes any thought that we must plead with God for our good. We have one assignment---to break down the barriers of our old ideas and premises.

We have to clarify how much money we want, and then imagine what we would do with this money, actually creating the feeling of already having it. Imagine the changes this would bring. Remember that focusing on your abundant life takes nothing away from anyone else, there is enough for everyone.
