Pirocheetah,

I see that you are a new member here, thank you for commenting. I do feel as you that the LOA does exist and it is reciprocal in nature, the manifestation resonating at the same vibratory quality as the cause.

At this point, in my own self contemplations, I am thinking that our Ego is an aspect of our personality created expressly for "attracting" both good and bad qualities of experience within our physical manifestation (it is not a separate entity, nor is it to be overcome or abandoned, but is a specialized part or aspect of our Being). These experiences are for tempering for our soul's journey through this incarnation, for whatever reason this incarnation has been given to us.

So, from this point of view, the aspect of mind known as Ego would be doing as you suggest - creating misconduct and attracting a misconduct expressions through our body and/or mind (I do not have the belief that spirit can be troubled, evil or in total darkness, though it can be in need of healing from the effects of past manifestations - either in this life or some other life among the layers of our Being).

Thank you for bringing up an interesting point and welcome into our group.
Deb

I have not read all of your post but I find the LOA an interesting topic.

LOA exists necessarily

Body- put good nutrition and exorcise and body will flourish
Mind- Put useful and appropriate thoughts and mind will flourish
Spirit- Put positive and healing energy and the spirit will flourish

Perhaps it is at the mind that we create misconduct and attract a misconducted mind (or the body, or the spirit)

      Chuck,

I have wanted to read what you wrote here for a long time. I've had it up on my screen multiple times but for one reason or another was diverted away. Finally, this afternoon, a few brief moments to concentrate and focus on your thoughts here.

You state very clearly what is my understanding as well and you make this very understandable. This is alot of what Ernest Holmes observed that caused him to create a method of responding to life that incorporated intentional thinking. As you say, for most "this is not a conscious process". So, his thinking was, why not treat such a possibility?, that one could impact what expresses in our experience by intentionally planting seeds of a certain kind and adding belief to them, belief that it would express.

I got a smile of recognition from your assertion "those times when a deeper layer of the eternal you, slips an experience in that is counter to your belief, just to give you pause . . ." How to explain those moments? This is as good of an explanation as I've run across.

And I thought this beautifully put - "every action is shared throughout all of consciousness . . . the . . . connectedness of all aspects of consciousness."

I echo you a bit - it is not necessary to have any particular experience - especially repeatedly - it is a choice to believe it will be that way. For example, I once knew someone who constantly said "if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all". My old SOM minister was full of stories about broken legs and figurines that came from repeated figures of speech.

Thanks for sharing your perspective on this -
Deb

The "law" of attraction is an interesting concept. There are many components to its expression. A mix of thought, emotion, imagination, our beliefs, our senses, our spiritual orientation, our spiritual focus type, our personality, the way in which we choose in each moment to express this focus of our larger selves in each moment, and what aspects of consciousness and/or essence we align with in those moments. All of these, and others, then expressed as our perception in our physical experience.

Beliefs are a very strong influence on our perception, the tool by which we create our experience here. And beliefs are not like a piece of tissue for most people, something that you use when you need it then put it aside. For most people beliefs are truth, you do not question them, and you act in accordance with the belief.

Our energy, projected through our beliefs, will attract energy that it resonates with, and we will configure that energy into our experience. On occasion we reconfigure it, but for most this is not a conscious process, yet.

We will attract to us primarily the energy that matches the energy we are projecting:our thoughts imagination, feeling tones, etc..This has a particular, observable effect.

If within me somewhere, I believe that people from another part of the world are less intelligent than those from the U.S., or that people from various parts of the country are less intelligent, that will be my experience. I will only focus on experiences that support the belief I am expressing. I may have a very intelligent women from some other country next to me in a store, but we will not interact, or if we do, I will configure the energy of that interaction in a manner that supports my belief.

I will suggest this phenomenon is always in effect, save for those times when a deeper layer of the eternal you, slips an experience in that is counter to your belief, just to give you pause, and perhaps an opportunity to contemplate for a moment. Whether you take the opportunity or not?

If you believe there is a law of compensation, you will rarely see any evidence that that is not the case, unless of course you are in the process of changing the influence of the related belief, in which case you may experience it on some occasions and not on others.

I'll suggest that knowledge that every action is shared throughout all of consciousness, is not an idea of exchange or cause and effect as it is commonly expressed, but rather one of the nature of connectedness of all aspects of consciousness.

Now, none of this is saying that the experience of the LOC is not a valid experience, it is. And if it is the experience you choose to continue for awhile there is nothing wrong with that, but it is not neccessary for it to be that way.

But if you don't beleive you can create without compensation as part of the deal, you will not.

(ALL OF THIS MY OPINION OF COURSE)

In love, Chuck :)

Thanks Dean! Do you have a brother named Sam?

I have been really simplifying my life as well. It's when things get complicated, that's when all hell breaks loose and then I crave the simple life. LOL But that really is a lesson isn't it! A reminder that we really don't need probably 80% of the crap we all accumulate!

Let me see, what else can I get rid of!

In my mind this article really reinforces the need to lead a simple but productive life. However, most people see simple as being something wrong or negative. There have been people who have done great things while leading extremely simple lives. Yes, we are human and do crave things, but in the end (like the wonderfully worded article states) getting those things has a, sometimes large, price. Thank you for such a good article.

Right on target, Flowerchild! About the LoC, I think to get the best result is to focus on asking "how can I serve" thus your point about the person wanting $1M for personal gain may have a tougher time than the one creating a nonprofit.
BALANCE seems to be the word of the day in my world--focusing on just one of these laws is slippery business.... might even get you mired in the Law of INERTIA without realizing it!! Nobody talks much about this one, but it's possibly the most powerful of them all. Think about it--how many people do you know who'd rather live a mediocre (or worse) life than to make themselves do things to change?
Great thread, everyone!
Love to all~

      Excellent responses!

For anything materially that we want, it's usually not the thing that we really want, but the feeling it gives us. 9 times outta 10 once we have it and we, maybe subconsciously, realize that the thing we got really didn't make us any happier.

We can get the feeling without actually having the thing that we think will make us happy. Then all kinds of positives things flow to us. Sometimes it's not even the thing we originally wanted, but even better!

I also think when we want things not for personal gain, but for the intention of helping others, then the idea of the Law of Compensation is also taken care of.

Here's my thinking:

If someone wants $1,000,000 for himself for personal gain and he gets it, I feel the law of compensation will balance this out. This person may end up 'paying a price'.

But if someone wants a $1,000,000 to start an organization or whatever to help others and their intention is about others and not on themselves, then the law of compensation is taken care of. Because compensation is included in the want.

I hope that made some kind of sense. I'm babbling.
There are many Universal Laws or Universal Truths and just focusing on one throws off Universal Balance.

Great conversation!

I felt [or to use Ian's word, mented] that the remarkable attraction about the LOA and the Secret is that it opens up the world of possibility for those who feel the only way to get what we want in the material universe [which is in itself a chimera] is by balancing a check-book and that there are very few possibilites ; to realize that we co-create much in our life.

Another way that this has been shown, is by another thought :"Ask for what you really want, and let the universe take care of the details." If we do that, we begin to go in and out towards the most subtle thing that we are seeking to manifest. That takes care of LOA and LOC:

e.g. I want a wonderful house--> I really want a home that is warm, spacious and inviting--->I ask for a home that suits the needs of everyone in my family and friends--->I visualize the entire family and all around us really happy and joyful. And that is where I stop till it goes into wordless vibrations.

That's how it works for me!

Great post Denise.

      Denise,

Very good article, yes, it's true. Does that mean that we stop trying to create those things we want in our life? No. While I never thought of it in exactly these terms, I was aware of it in principle. It usually comes down to the fact that, it never is all exactly as you imagined, when you focused on one aspect - the job, the car, the relationship. All kinds of things shift and each has a corresponding impact on other things.

That is why alot of teachers recommend rather than focusing on objects, to work with the resonance or vibration you emit, so that what you attract fits that. Focus on feeling really happy, not on something that made you happy, just on how you felt when you were. Suddenly, that magic you article talks of "the attractive experience" happens, and you are always aware of how magical it is, but it works because you were in alignment with the things coming to you.

Deb

I thought this article was pretty interesting. I've always thought that those that get things for 'personal gain', will end up paying a price.
This article does make sense. My LOA group was just talking about starting to learn about LOA and then 'all hell breaking loose'.

Thoughts?

Let's Get Real About the Law of Attraction
By Elizabeth A. Grant

There is a universal law that is hardly ever talked about, but it's
crucial to understand it if you are going to feel inner happiness, which is key to attracting outer abundance. It is the Law of Compensation.

Essentially, the Law of Compensation says that everything has a price.
This is an essential concept for you to keep in mind relating to the Law of Attraction. You see, many Law of Attraction materials say that you can have, be or do anything you want in this life, and it comes to you like magic and you don't have to pay for it.

While it is true that when you have a deliberately created Law of
Attraction experience, it feels truly magical, nothing is free. You may
even attract a large sum of money with very little effort through the
law of attraction. However, that does not mean it doesn't come with a
price.

The universe is perfectly balanced. The yin and the yang. Nothing
happens in one part of the world that doesn't effect the world somewhere
else, in however small a way. It's because we are all one, operating
from one energy field.

I want to talk about the Law of Compensation because I do not want you
to be surprised nor disappointed when you discover it on your own ...
when you become a deliberate creator of your reality, and then wonder
why these "bad" things are happening to you.

Let me give you a few examples. First, let's say you work with the Law
of Attraction correctly, meaning your thoughts and beliefs are lined up,
and you take massive action forward toward your dream, and over the
course of the next ten years, you increase your income from $50,000 to
$5,000,000 per year. That would be quite an accomplishment!

Now you have the financial freedom you've always wanted. You are secure.
You can travel to Paris on a whim. Your children can go to the best
schools. You have the life you always dreamed of.

Do you think that large sum of money you're receiving has a price
attached? Well, it does. For one thing, you may lose some of your middle
class friends, who can't handle the disparity in your incomes. You may
have distant cousins come out of the woodwork asking for what they
perceive they are entitled to: loans, gifts, etc. People may steal from
you.

Did you know that both Jack Canfield and James Arthur Ray have been
embezzled from? And they both have a firm grasp on the Law of
Attraction. See, that was the price they paid for becoming rich, and
while it may have been frustrating, I'm sure before long they recognized
it as such. Does this mean that every rich person is stolen from? Of
course not. But they pay a price. It might be time away from their kids.
Or more stress and pressure. They might feel disconnected to others.
(There's a reason for the old saying, "It's lonely at the top.")

Let's talk about the Law of Compensation as it relates to something a little more day-to-day. When you acquire a flat screen television at a
store, you pay for it; let's say $1600. That's the price. If you find a
really cheap one, say $200, you'd probably think, "This is too good to
be true!"

Yes, it is. What do you think the real price will be for getting a $200
flat screen TV? Most likely, such a TV will be poor quality. You may
think you're paying only $200, but you will continue to pay in
inconvenience, because it will break, or the picture will be fuzzy. In
less than a year, it may have gone to TV heaven, and you'll have to buy a new one. Because high quality flat screen TVs don't cost $200. Maybe it will be worth it to you. That is where individual choice comes in. One price may seem tolerable or even a bargain to one person, yet intolerable to another.

How about in relationships? Everything has a price there, too. Say
you're a single person. If you meet your perfect partner, your life will
be enriched in so many ways (and if he or she is rich, even material
wealth, right?). You might gain emotional security, a fun companion and a satisfying sex life, too.

But you will pay a price to have all that. You will have to give up some
of your freedom, and you will have to compromise. You will have to take another person's feelings into consideration. You may have to eat food you don't like, or go to movies you don't like, or any number of other things. But it's worth it, because of what the person brings to your life.

If you don't pay that price, chances are, whether it's in one year, or
30 years, you'll lose the joy of having that person around. That will be
your price. Because who would want to be with someone where they bring joy and give of themselves, and the person takes and takes and takes?

If you absolutely adore chocolate, and you eat a big bar of it every
day, you will have to pay a price. You will either be fat, or you will
have to work out extra hard to maintain your figure.

If someone gives you your dream car for your birthday, you will have to buy gas, pay for maintenance, and pay for insurance. Even if they cover all of these things for you, you will eventually have to pay a price.
Maybe when that person wants you to go on a trip to the backwoods of Alaska, and you couldn't think of anything you'd rather not do more than that, you feel obligated to go. After all, they bought you a CAR. It's a small price to pay, right? (Does that phrase sound familiar? "It's a
small price to pay for ..." See? You already knew about the Law of
Compensation.)

For an actor, the price of massive success is total lack of privacy. Top
Hollywood actors often feel they can't trust anyone anymore. They have difficulty developing deep friendships and finding someone they can share their innermost thoughts with, worried it might end up in the tabloids.

The price you pay for ensuring you will have enough to retire on is not
having everything you want right now.

The price you pay for tube of toothpaste is $1.89.

The price you pay for writing a book is time spent away from friends and family. Or a night out on the town. Or sleep.

Does this help you understand something as it relates to the Law of
Attraction? Because many Law of Attraction movies and books definitely missed this. They make it sound like a fairytale.

If you've had a Law of Attraction experience, you know it feels magical. You deliberately brought something into your life. Wow, what power you discover about yourself! Just understand that it's not a fairytale. Gratefully pay your price, knowing that you're simply experiencing the wisdom of the universe, the divine balance we all live within.
