I'm a July newcomer, I suppose, or at least a newcomer to this Group.

I'm Siona; I'm a bit ubiquitous around the site, for obvious reasons. And I think the presence and the potential of Meeting Love is incredible. I'm honored to participate, and can't wait to see what unfolds.

I was just reading your profile page to Gien. Last night we were talking about you, saying what an amazing job you do here in Gaia, you are so participatory and in touch - amazing feat in such a large network, we are fortunate!

Hi
I don't often join new groups but my friend Gien……
I am so lucky, my life is full of love. Many of the people I meet that are hurting inside, or feel they have uninspiring lives are just missing a bit of love. The commercial world bombards us with images and ideas that have nothing to do with love or caring and I guess that a lot of people lose their way.

Until I met my wife when I was 30 I had not chosen to have a close or physical relationship. It is hard enough keeping true to oneself without involving casual others. My wife Dizzy completes me and it was worth the wait.

If I had any advice for the lonely it would be to stop looking for another and find yourself. When you think you have, someone may come along and prove you wrong, but in a lovely way.
Even harder advice…… Stop buying unnecessary personal hygiene products, expensive fashionable clothes, show off possessions. Are you trying to find someone who loves You or just loves your image?

Welcome Chaparral! You have learned a lot of wisdom in terms of your life - I am happy you are so celebratory of your relationship
I understand from your post you are saying 'find yourself before trying to find a partner and superficiality is not the way to go'.

Re: July Introductions

Gien said Jul 3, 6:40 PM:

Hi chaparral,

Welcome to the group!
I think we are on the same wavelength
There are many words that we can use to say the same thing
When you say “stop looking for another and find yourself”
perhaps it is the same as what I posted here
In a genuinely fulfilling relationship
both you and your partner are happy
but the joy must radiate out of you
before your partner can feel it
and radiate that joy back to you, isn't it?
So joy begins with you
and it ends with you

There are many victims of fashion, Chap,
Anna and I can't be counted among them!
sounds like you and Dizzy aren't either

I guess we all want to look good for our partners
…that's why we men wash our face in the morning…and sometimes even shave!:D
but there seems to be a continuum of things we can do to present ourselves
all the way from the negligible
to the extreme
We have a section on this group entitled “balance”
I think that's the key

Funny thing is
image is self propagating
It's social conditioning
Ads with pretty woman and pretty men
are ubiquitous
and so, they condition us, very subliminally and at a very early age
to want to appear that way
My stepson uses some kind of cologne…at age 12!
I rest my case

Yet, after you have found your partner
you can be lying in bed or relaxing on a weekend
and image is the last thing on your mind

We have to be naked at some time, don't we?
Everything we put on
must come off when we go to sleep or bathe

The more comfortable we are with someone
the more we can drop the image game
In this sense, there is a lot of insecurity in society
and people may be fooled into believing
that people will value us only for the image we can present
I guess this is where the cliche of the “dumb blonde” comes from
someone who excels at image at the expense of the inner light

Again, it's about balance
If we spend all our time refining our image
is there any time left to work on our essential inner being, our humanity?
We may paint the most beautiful, facade on the building's exterior
yet the inside may be shoddy, unclean and structurally unsound

Image oriented businesses create insecurity
so that they can sell product, move merchandise
How much money does Revlon, Channel, etc.. make?

To summarize
on a desert island, if we had to choose a few essential items
I don't think Revlon or Channel would rate very high on the list!

Hi!

I am here and I am love itself, I think. I have had some 'bad' experiences like many persons and I am aware of my part to play in those experiences for the most part.

I am happy to say I remain jubilant and joyful and very loving because of my overall view on life I believe.

However, I don't really limit the receipt of love to the 'person' I give love to and I feel well loved and blessed.

As it relates to personal [partner-type] love relationships, let's just say I had some growing up to do.

This pod, along with you guys' [Anna & Gien, Mary & Keith] generous sharing of your relationships reality has inspired me to reflect on this in my personal blog.

Please visit at your convenience and don't hesitate to comment in either place.

From my Beautiful Little Blog entitled 'Dispelling my Illusions about Love… and getting ‘It’ Real'.
I will look forward to participating in some of the other sections of the pod as I go along.

I appreciate your [our] giving here.

I do believe that exploration of all that is important to humans in realistic ways, is a big step to rationalising the world's pain and suffering. And clearly Love is a big one that many people attempt to play down.

But we never quite get away from it, do we?

Loving you all!

Best, Sherri

Greetings!  I am new to Gaia and am amazed at all the people interested in pursuing life as their higher selves.  I already feel so motivated and supported in that endeavor myself.  Like many, I am looking for love.  Unlike many, I am looking for honest, authentic, empowering, world changing love in any and all forms.  I hope that by putting my intention out into the universe and focusing on that which I truly want, I will attract that to myself.

Hi, Loved Ones,
My name is Susan and I am joining this group with the intentions of inspiring and being inspired by the metta love here. I'm practicing big heart love with my family, in my work, and with all beings I meet. practice, practice, practice. I work as a registered nurse with teenagers in a psychiatric hospital….lots of opportunity for practice in my work. It is true to say that I love my work and it is my true dharma. I saw a documentary years ago about an anthropologist who lived with eth Ladakhi people (mountains near Pakistan/Nepal) for a decade, and she asked them the Ladakhi word for “crazy.” Many elders and leaders in the village were consulted for such a word, because no such word, no experience of this existed in their society. When the anthropologist described behaviors that may be descriptive of “crazy” or “insane”…….the Ladakhis said, “Ah! this is called unloved (translation in English). I still sit with that sometimes. So here's to Meeting Love and practice, practice, practice. Love, Susan

Hi Susan!

is this moment
no coming, no going

Love
is belonging
and is not feeling alienated
our whole life
each infinite moment in it
gives us an amazing opportunity to practice love

Thank you for extending your practice here.

Re: July Introductions

Kaitie said Jul 31, 6:09 AM:

Good morning. (:

My name is Kaitie, and, while I've been a member of the site for over a year now, this is my first real venture into the world of Groups.  Typically, I am content to experience all the wonders of Gaia through reading others thoughts and feelings, but this group and some of the stories I've read thus far have coaxed me to post.  I have a feeling that I am a bit younger than many in this particular corner of the “world,” but love and learning can blossom at any age.

As this is the last day of July, I was really unsure if I should post today or wait until tomorrow.  A day can bring with it infinite experiences–and I've alway seem to be beginning at the end of things–so I decided to introduce myself, because who knows in what direction my fancy will fly tomorrow.  I am a very passionate and loving person, and long desperately to find my place in the universe surrounded by those who are of the same soul as me.  As I test the waters and flow towards my home (wherever that may be, spiritually or otherwise) and explore the realms of love, I'd very much like a place to store my journey.  Success, enlightenment, and love are never guaranteed to occur at the moment we desire, but I know that I can help myself and others grow towards them by sharing my experience and absorbing their's.

Thank you, and I look forward to meeting and talking with you all. (:

Hi Kaitie,

Welcome to this group.
We all begin as strangers
but as we journey together
we share aspects of ourselves
that may ring true with others
causing them to resonate

As that resonance grows stronger over time
this is what slowly transforms strangers into friends
Sharing our pain, our triumphs, the little lessons in life
we make ourselves more real to the other

We all begin as abstractions, don't we?
All we know about a stranger is the little that is revealed
and our own preconceptions
that is how we all begin this journey

Last day of July
1st day of August
In other calendars,
it's the middle of the month
end of the year
beginning of the decade
what's in a name?

Now is now
no matter what we call it
You can only be present
by jumping fully into the present
make a splash!

We all share the same sentiment as you
we are here to teach and learn from each other
When we share, we cannot help but grow together
like a team of rowers, our shared effort
moves us all in a common direction

We look forward to your sharing and participation
