Who doesn't love a good love story? Here, you can share poignant love stories. They can be personal ones or ones you've heard of that touched your heart

one of my favourite love stories is yours, Gien and Anna!

I remember so well the day you proposed to Anna, Gien, and she joyfully said yes, and how you did it online - it was such a delight. And everything you shared together with us about each other before and since.

Love,

Nicole

Ooh Nicole - I dont know if I should be ashamed to say this or not - but I am shamelessly in love with our love story too! It is also my favorite. Gien and I love to relate it to each other. I enjoy it's unfoldings every moment.

LOL yes when Gien proposed, I politely said, 'yes, please' and people teased me about that. But I still feel I should say that!

big hugs

I don't think we should be ashamed of our love! :D

I have 3 favorite love stories:

1. How my dad meet my mum
2. My love story with Jopoa
3. My love story with Hummingbird

I'm telling them in time sequence.

1. My Dad and my Mum

I asked my dad how he met my mum. You must put this story in historical context in a patriarchal society.

My dad replied:
Well, back in the days in China when I was young, we didn't have courtship. It was matchmaking and arranged marriages. I was told one day by a matchmaker that there was a young woman I may be interested in. The plan was to wait for her to walk by so I could catch a glimpse of her. He spotted her and we both began walking across the bridge. She came in the opposite direction. I quickly looked at her as she walked by. After crossing the bridge, I said: “yes, can you matchmake?”

Wow! Can you imagine a decision like that led to me and my brothers being here in the world? It's kind of mind boggling.

2. Jopoa and I

I fell in love with my grandmother as soon as I saw her as a teenage boy. My mother had been trying for years to bring her to Canada from China. We shared the same bedroom for many years and that relationship with Jopoa lasted until she passed away in 2002.

To me, Jopoa was the most amazing being. She was feisty, she was magical, her job was to pray for my and others well being. She was a ball or energy and wherever we went, her smile and her spontanous love lit up the room. She spoke no english but her command of the language of the heart was infinite.

3. My love of Anna

Yes, our transcontinental courtship was a bit unusual.
We certainly got to know each other so well before we met.
There were just too many coincidences to our meeting
I already deeply resonated with my love when she first came to visit me
that fateful evening I finished honoring my grandma's 5th anniversary of her death
and coincidences keep occurring after that
Myself and Jopoa
her and Gra-anna
and we were both such chatterboxes! :D
we sent art to each other, created things for each other
motivated by love
We both brought those we honored in our life
into our emotional presence
We shared our love freely online, as we do now
posting all our traveling and journeying together
We inspire each other each day
The only kind of anger we can muster towards each other
is a pretend anger, a mock anger
In this journey
we have both learned
that communication is the key….it's so important to be open
and so important to be playful

What is all of life
except one marvelous play?
So, this is where our own love story now sits
I wonder what new chapters we will write?

I am fascinated by Giens parent's love story and I love Giens love story with Jopoa - I guess this is when I loved him 1st. I had no idea who he was - in fact I had some bizarre idea that he and Jopoa were monastics - I guess it was Giens shaven head, the Buddhist posts and the deeply spiritual sense I felt on his profile page - here on Gaia of course where it all happened. And Gien looked about 20 …

… at the time I was involved in a short soon to end relationship where I was spending too much time feeling sad and not enough time being joyful. So the love I felt was for this young boy\maybe monk who wrote of his love for Jopoa. I left a note for him in the cave I found. It took a while to find out he was not a monk but it took no time for deep connecting. The light this love shone was so bright I ended the sad relationship which was shown so clearly up by the contrasting light of this friend on the other side of earth. Not dreaming that this friend and I would even see one another in person.

I told my best friend, Isabella, about this amazing love I have found - I was content to spend the rest of my life communicating with him without the need for any other relationship. She saw what was coming before I did. As did some others who were close to me. I didn't dare…

LOL my daughter, Nat, scolded me once for 'chatting to strange men on the internet' when I told her I was on gmail chat with Gien and Assaji. I responded - “no silly - they're monks!” Ironically now she loooves Gien and Assaji who is somewhat like a brother to her, recently showed her round Thailand.

Back to my unfolding tale. At some point I found out Gien was not a monk and still I didnt dare dream… then one day - we'd been talking for hours and hours - he declared love for me - differently from before - and since then we never stopped!

At some stage I felt I had to be fair and tell this young boy to go and find a beautiful 22 year old young woman and have children. He enjoyed that and laughingly told me he was only 2 years younger than I. Whew! I was so relieved! The rest you know. Tee hee - telling my favorite love story…

Yes, Zephyr,
now we must wait for the next chapter to unfold

Anna and I are traveling this journey towards awakening together
We know life is so precious
we never know how long we have
and this helps us to get down to business
and abandon negative emotions as much as possible
they simply take up precious time, don't they?

A few weeks ago
I was away on business
and Anna had “death dreams”
that she would die on Saturday
Of course we now know that has not come to past
but it was very real to her
because she had such dreams shortly before her teacher died
so she takes them very seriously
especially when it was so specific

It really made us both prepare for death
Anna more so than I
We both feel that life can only have as much meaning
as a nonconceptual awakening to the meaning of both life and death

In 100 years time
every single human being alive today
will be gone

Each one of us
should we realize this
would help us awaken now
to our higher consciousness
our higher love

Many Blessings

Oh, it's so true, I was ever so surprised to find out Gien's real age - in person, too, you look so young. LOL!

It's funny to look back at these misapprehensions along the way…

and also, reflecting on death can provide marvelous perspective on really living, like in the play, Our Town, by Thornton Wilder, the character Emily says:

“All the greatest people ever lived have been telling us that for five thousand years and yet you’d be surprised how people are always losing hold of it. There's something way down deep that’s eternal about every human being.”

“Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it?—every, every minute?”
