Microdonations

NEW DESCRIPTION BY OM BASTET (1Vector3)

I would like to revive this Group because I think MicroDonations are crucially important in building the kind of world I want to live in, and that you probably want, too.

The focus of the Group previously was on having the Group be a nexus of givers and receivers of donations....(more)

The 25 Billion $ plan to change the world!

David said Aug 8, 2007, 9:09 AM:

I have been in discussion with a fellow Zaadster and friend, Jaime, the last couple of nights.  She is young and reminds me of myself approximately 15 years ago.  We have been discussing how money can change the world for the better.  She mentioned that if she had 25 billion dollars, she would put it toward making the world a better place.  I do not have that much money, but I do have passion and a lot of ideas.  I also have the ability to set up a foundation at a moments notice for the money collection.  I know that there is a great deal of passion out there and there are people with the money necessary to get a 25 billion dollar idea off of the ground.  I would like to be the first to invite you all to our 25 billion dollar plan to save the planet.  You are all invited and all input is welcome.  The questions that we need to answer first:

1.) What do we need to change first? (Other than ourselves!)
2.) How do we measure success?
3.) How long do we have to achieve success?
4.) What can you contribute to the plan?

This is just the beginning.  We are all part of the solution.  I would like to see every one of us contribute in some way to this plan.  Please contact me with whatever input you may have.

Sincerely,
David Miller

Sorry for taking so long to reply!  Sounds like a very interesting idea.  Excellent post and questions.  I hope I can think of some interesting feedback eventually. :-)

Anyhow, though, if you're not in the money-collecting phase just yet, should I perhaps move this thread to one of the other boards, like the General Discussion board, for discussions of anything?

Best wishes,
Apollia

Edit, 3:55 PM: Hmm, what a strange glitch. :-)  As I write this, your original post is sandwiched in between two copies of my reply.

I guess it would probably be possible for me to edit this thread and fix this myself, but I'm going to leave this the way it is for now so the Zaadz Support folks can have a look at it.

Edit, 4:47 PM: Deleted the duplicate copy of my reply at the top of the thread.

Hey David,

Me too on the length of time to reply.

Well, first I would like to say that yes money can definitely change the world and since we are going to start there I think we need to not be afraid to use big numbers.  Instead of $25 billion let's go right for $1 Trillion.

If you look at our current costs for war in Iraq, there are estimates of $2 billion a week or $12 billion per month so in 8-13 weeks it would exceed the amount you are looking at to change the world.

We need to think big and we need to first start thinking of how spending money to improve the world will be cheaper than having all these wars and fighting over everything.

1 - Where do we start?

We need to lift everyone out of poverty and provide the basics of food, shelter, clothing, health and education.  We also need to provide them with the opportunities of sustaining themselves.

2 - How do we measure success?

A reduction in poverty.  A reduction in death by Malaria, Aids and other diseases more prevalent in underdeveloped and undereducated countries.  We measure by less war and conflict.  We measure by the re-establishment of endangered species.  We measure by the cleaner air and environment.

3 - How long do we have to achieve the plan?

We should start with the newborns of today and it should be a plan that occurs in one generation.  We need to start with today's youth and educate them how to start a new world with peace, health and sustainability for all people.  We need to finally educate everyone on tolerance of all races, religions, orientations, etc. etc. etc.

4 - What can I contribute?

Ideas, ideas, ideas.  The base and structure need to be rethought and rebuilt from the ground up.  A new model of thinking and living has to occur.  We cannot keep repeating the past, a new norm has to be developed.  Possibly a new global political and economic structure needs to be created to accomplish this.

Hi, I just moved this thread to the General Discussions board, since it's not a donation request for money.  If there's a different board you'd prefer this to be on, please let me know. :-)

Best wishes,
Apollia
