Questions re Gateway experience

Wonderer said Jan 24, 2008, 3:19 PM:

I've just started playing with Wave I of the Gateway Experience series, and have a few questions:

- I understand that the excercises should be done in the given sequence, but how long should I stay with each exercise? Should I just continue to the next when I don't feel any progress, or should I wait for 'something' to happen first?

- When I do the “Intro to Focus 10” exercise, where all the facial muscles should be relaxed, my mouth fills with saliva and I feel like I have to swallow, frequently. This of course makes it harder to concentrate.

- Hmm, what should I concentrate on by the way (apart from the instructions)?

Anyone with experience in these matters?

Best regards,
Arne

I have been to the institute for the Gateway experience and all 21 discs from Wave I through Wave 6 are covered over a 5 day period.  It really is all individually driven, but I would suggest that there are different focus levels that work better for different people.  For instance, some people have alot of activity in 12 and not in 10 other people have greater activity in 15.  So, it really is personal preference.

I would suggest listening to each disc 2 - 3 times until you have gone through them all and go back to hte ones that you feel the most comfortable in.

The medidative process is a learned skill and your mind is becoming trained in dealing with thoughts that tend to pull you out of the meditative state.  At the institute, they tell you, when you have an itch - to itch it and then go back.  I guess if you are constantly swallowing you need to find a relaxation position for your mouth that does not activate the saliva response.  If it is distracting…then don't do it.

As far as what to concentrate on, I would suggest trying to get to that state that you are in right before you fall off to sleep…that period of awake and sleep.  Quite your mind and concentrate on nothing…

Thank you for your answers. I'll try to experiment more with Advanced Focus 10 and Wave 2.

Btw, I found a very nice article about Focus 10: FOCUS 10: MIND AWAKE/BODY ASLEEP

And this guy has a nice blog about Hemi-Sync: Louis Yagera's blog
