Hi Friends!

I posted a link about an art project in Amsterdam in the Dutch part of this pod, but I like to show it here too. Although some of the announcements are made in the dutch language there are also a copple of inerviews in English and it's enough to get an idea of this project. The different art expressions are made by different artist and invite the people to participate and add to/play with the art so the art is actually constantly moving and growing. I've always loved interactve art so for me this is pure fun.

I read in your profile you'r quite into languages eh? Well,

'dit is een Hollandse groep, geen Duitse!' - 'this is a dutch pod, not a german !
  Well I could translate that into German for you but you are risking there will be some grammatical errors. You better ask a German person that!

So I'll teach you a copple of dutch words, how about that?

'Ik hou ook van jou!'   (I love you too!)

Dear All,

I have some exciting news!

I have been in contact with Ward M. Powers (Creator and Director of the film, ONE: The Movie) and Karen Jacobson, the ONE Movie public screening coordinator.

Karen, and the ONE Movie team have been generous enough to offer our Zaadz Zaangha Groups the “Small Group” Package discount for this Global Screening Event! The regular price for the screening package is $250 (50 people at $5.00 a ticket prepaid), however, each Zaadz group participating in this screening event, is being offered the “Small Group” package rate of only $50.00 plus $9.95 for S&H! The package includes a signed copy of ONE: The Movie DVD, the study guide and soundtrack!

This is great news because it makes it possible for most, if not all of our Zaadz Zaangha groups and others to participate! And, that is the purpose of this project: to get as many people around the world to host a screening (on the same day!) so that we can spread the message of ONE and sow the seeds of Zaadz at the same time.

I would like this to truly be a synchronized Global Zaadz Zaangha “ONE Day-ONE Movie” event in order to spread the message of ONE and generate “ONE energy” in as many parts of the world in a 24 hour period as possible!

The next step is to decide on ONE day/evening to screen the film globally. It will most likely be set for early 2007 to give us enough time to fund raise if need be, order the DVD package, advertise and spread the word to invite members of the local community, and find a location for the screening (if not a member’s home), etc.

There is also some talk of having a global discussion group afterward. That could be done as a 24 HOUR Skype Chat possibly, but it is still just an idea at this point.

Okay, so what I need now, is to hear from any and all of you who would like to make a commitment to participate in this project. It can be a collective group (Zaangha) effort, or hosted by one member of each group – whichever works best for all involved.

Place a comment here on this blog or contact me via my Zaadz email, (Please put ONE Movie Project in the subject line.) Tell me you want to host a screening and let me know your idea for a Date or Day that you think will work best if you have any preferences. (Ultimately, it will have to be a date that works best for the most people involved.)

Then, I will post updates here and also contact the people and groups who want to be involved, with the details on how to order the “small group package”, the date of the 24 hour period we will be screening the movie, and other particulars.

Dutch, Deuts or Netherlandic

Little over a year ago I heard a possible origin of the English word "Dutch". The logic of it was awesome. Hence my side line goal. "Ban Dutch, embrace Netherlandic!"

In the days when the people from The Netherlands informed the World about their existence by distinguishing themselves as skilled and fearless sailors, the crews that were sent out to make the high society "gentlemen" of The Netherlands even richer, were assembled from the lowest classes of the population. Who else than "the desperate" would be willing to risk an arm and a leg by taking part in journeys of which any possible return was disputable to say the least. And this for virtually no more than room and boarding and a finalizing delirious brothel brawl (sorry ladies), in case one should survive. These "desperates" were recruited (Shanghai-ed) from "the vulgar in the lower quarters". Read; the second rate citizens who had nothing to loose and actually had no hope what so ever on more than mere survival until the next "gentleman" would come along to take advantage of them.

The next part may come as a surprise to some. Especially to those from around our eastern border with the Germans, who happen to call themselves in their own language "Deutsch". In those days the generally used Netherlandic word for the vulgar or lower classed people was "deuts". Whenever these vulgars traveled far and away en they were asked what they were, they generally answered "deuts". By doing so they merely pointed out that although they were at the scene, they were certainly not of high status. They were nothing more than low class, second rate subjects to the Seven Provinces of the Netherlands. (As our country was called at that time) The scum, the lowest of the lowest without any real prospect of ever rising from that. The only possibility to do so was by making these insane voyages across the oceans. Just to make enough money to be able to buy that freedom in the end. Unfortunately the money was usually spent on whores and booze as soon as they returned to port. Right after that they were back at the beginning and had to board again. Wherever they sailed on those wretched floating coffins, the "gentlemen" called ships, in the end the ordinary people remained "deuts", whether they wanted or not. They remained second rate.

As Great Britain was also a sailing nation at that time the word "deuts" soon was corrupted into the English word "Dutch". After all it almost sounds the same and the British sailors were not unlike those from the Netherlands, not among the brightest. So from that moment on all people from the Netherlands were called Dutch in the English-speaking world.

Nowadays the word "Dutch" is rather confusing to a lot of English speaking people. Global travellers as they are they link the word often to "Deutschland". Ask any German in English where they are from and nine out of ten times they will answer: "I am from Deutschland" Hence the completion of confusion is there. Besides some topographical difficulties ("So Copenhagen is your capitol city?") a lot of English speaking people somehow get the idea that we are GERMAN. A lot of people in The Netherlands still consider that to be an insult. I have to admit this is not very nice and/or enlightened. Their reason(s) I consider to be a totally different discussion. Therefore I won't go into that here.

I strongly believe that we, the people from The Netherlands, in the 21^stcentury are anything but second rate low class vulgar folk. Or are we? According to my standards we are equally valuable to any one on the surface of this beautiful planet. So why should we still be using a derivative of the ancient word (deuts) that referred to the less fortunate and less valued. For our foreign friends is it absolutely obvious where we originate from when we say that we are "Netherlandic from The Netherlands". It is as logical as when for instance people from a certain area in the North Atlantic claim to be "Icelandic from Iceland".

My goal for the year 2006 is to hear the word "Netherlandic" being used on CNN as naturally as if it were an original English word. Especially as I don't think of myself being second rate or vulgar, but a valuable contribution to an ever more beautiful international community.

I'm curious what others may have to say about the achievability of this goal of mine.

Hi you lovely Dutch people! I'm from New Orleans and a bunch of our city officials visited your land to figure out how to keep from being flooded. Be that as it may, I'm bothering your site with a little promotion (sorry, but I think this may be an important one. What do you think about it? This is my speel.

Hi! I am trying to make this a more popular goal. Are you interested? If you like to travel, do you like meeting and knowing people from different parts of the world? If so, would you add this "Meet People From All Over The World" as a goal?

To help make Global Changes it would be great if we all new people from different parts of the world. I think it would make a great difference in uniting the world. So, if you want to meet people from other parts of the world, or a specific part of the world and make friends, then please join this goal. This would be meeting people through the internet, people in your town, or people in traveling.

This will also help collect people from all over the word who want to meet others in other countries together in one spot. It will help all who want to do this to connect.
