Thanks guys - keep those intro's coming! I can't wait to initiate the first walk in and find Zaadsters there get-together. Let me know if you have something happening that would be a nice occasion for that. If not, I'm gonna do something when my film shows at MAKOR June 29th - it has a great cafe, music, etc. So one doesn't even have to see the film - it's a nice place to hang out/drop in. As the pod (hopefully) grows, I'm thinking of something more personal later - like a sit-down vegan meal at Candle Cafe or Caravan of dreams…. Anyway. I don't want to be pushy about my own stuff and I would love the first one to be 'someone else's event'. So please keep me posted on your doings! Thanks, Dree |

Greetings; I'm so glad to see the pod growing with all expressing their great creativity. I am starting to design and form classes on helping people to live Life as Art and motivate more Self Expression instead of being robots for big brother. Any one interested in being on an R&D team please contact me janetspittler@gmail.com |

Hello, gothamites! I live in Philadelphia, actually, but I grew up in Flushing, have lived in Brooklyn, and often come up to visit. I mostly occupy myself in theatre, both as a director and as a writer. Glad to have found my way into this pod …. |

Hey Madnoodler, You might also want to post that under discussion topic 'ZAADSTERS PERFORMING ' ?! I can imagine people serving the discussions, not hitting INTRO but hitting 'ZAADSTERS PERFORMING' to find out who's doing what in town….you never know…. up to you! |

Ola New Yorkers, I’m Amy and right now I’m living in this crazy apartment on Long Island with a guerilla production crew making a ground breaking, transformative pilot for television. Oh yeah. It’s about what it means to be be/become a man in today’s culture and we’re blowing our own minds as well as the minds of the young men who stepped up to the plate to use their lives as our “subjects” I’m shooting until mid July so I’ve hardly been on the Zaadz since I joined, but I wanted to respond to Little Dree’s intro, and say Hello. I’m HERE! I want to HANG OUT with the New York Zaadzters as soon as principle photography ends. I’ll be back in the city editing this baby starting the 20th of July, and while that is an intense process, it’s not necessarily 24/7 like this part is. I saw one of the NY members who called herself an Urban Hippie, and it made me laugh, because I’m working with 5 young men between the ages of 22 and 26. While I know a lot about them, they don’t know much about me. The other day one of them said to me “When I describe you to people, I say she’s like a…modern hippie.” Delightful. Concise. Little Dree, thanks for the invite. Glad to be here. Here’s to Freedom…the original concept at the core of the holiday this week-end May we all enjoy it to the fullest. Warm regards, Amy |

I've just found Zaadz and I am so happy to be here!! My partner and I co-founded a company in 2002, which is growing strong!! The whole time I've been in NYC (since 1989) I've always wanted to work for myself. I could never really get the finances to work out properly though!! I always joke that we will be yet another 10 year over night success. My passion in life, my biggest dream really, would be that no one would ever have to work at a job that they hate just to pay the rent. I believe that there is a way to support yourself and to make a positive contribution to the world at the same time. I'm currently reading a book called Authentic: How to Make a Living By Being Yourself, by Neil Crofts. I highly recommend this book. I've just introduced a new concept in my business which I am calling The Zen Pitch, which is all about training people to talk about their passions in a way that is concise, compelling and authentic. What I have found is that sometimes people are shy about talking about what they do, so it's tough for them to get enough business to keep doing their own thing. Would love to hear your thoughts on this concept. Best, LauraZenPitch |

Welcome and thanks so much for joining! I can't wait to hang out together - I met one fellow Zaadz New Yorker at the screening of my film this Thursday. What a joy to meet in the flesh - now I'm even more inspired to organise something in August!! It could be getting together at someone's event (performance, screening, etc.), or I might send out a mail who wants to meet for dinner at a vegan restaurant or….working on it, suggestions always welcome! Laura, I think your concept is great. I'm fighting through this myself as a 'one man band'. As a filmmaker/ ceramic artist/ illustrator/ writer/ vegan chef I try to stay as close to my truth in everything I do as much as I can - finding the balance between keeping silent and being 'preachy' (they both get me in trouble). I think the more people that get/have/create a chance to do so (in their lives and within their jobs), the happier we can all become. It's still a big struggle to make the living I would like/need to make persueing that 'attitude' but I feel blessed everyday with the freedom it allows me. I've learned to answer that 'But which of those things is your real profession?' question with; 'I'm a Jacky of all trades, master of some.' I'll leave you with a little example of finding my balance in 'spreading the word about healthy food' - have a great day! Dree |

My two cents on the "Jack of All Trades" pitchLauraZenPitch said Jul 2, 2006, 3:52 PM: |

Hello All: If you are doing more than one thing to pay the rent, (which I am and many of my clients are too!) may I suggest a simple concept that has worked very well. I call it “A Pitch for Every Niche.” When I see all of the things that you are doing, Little Dree, I am IMMEDIATELY drawn to the Vegan Chef. I do not think I have ever met a Vegan Chef and I've met LOTS of people. And I think that people are started to understand that idea that we are what we eat, so now is a great time to be marketing those types of services. In my experience, it's easier for people to remember one thing at first, “Hey, there's Little Dree, isn't she the Vegan Chef?” Then, as they get to know you, you can let them know about your other talents. You can have your filmmaker pitch and your ceramic artist pitch and any other pitch you choose. I find that if you introduce too many things too soon, people get confused. That's just my two cents and I'd love to hear what others think! :) LauraZenPitch |
