Hi people, I'm actually a Montrealer, but since I will be in New Jersey on business in May, I thought I would check in here to see if anyone wants to meet up with me and have a Gaia get together. Feel free to send me a PM if you're interested. I will be staying in Franklin Park, about 28 miles from the Newark airport, so will probably want to meet up at a restaurant somewhere around there.

What do you think?

Love and light,

Nicole

I'm available to come to your place, but... Hasn't anyone else responded? If it's just you and me, that doesn't represent a Zaangha on the 15th. Maybe we should shout out to others to see if we can open it up and have a more rockin' event, no? Meeting in the CIty at a cafe was what we did last time and many people showed up. Come on, let's see what we can create.

Laurie

      A message from Dree:

Unfortunately I'm not available to initiate anything, but a member of our New York Pod might in case you guys wanne meet in the flesh? Here's more in a message from Siona:

How many of you have met someone from the site in person?

I feel absurdly lucky in this regard: I've lost count of how many of you I've had the pleasure of chatting with, either over the phone or over coffee.

If you haven't (for whatever reason!) yet connected to Zaadzsters in the real world, we're about to make it much, much easier. Jessica and Dave are in the process of organizing the next Global Zaangha Day, and you're all invited to participate.

Zaangha. I'll explain. :)

Zaangha is Zaadz's twist on 'sangha,' a Sanskrit word meaning 'gathering' that carries with it connotations of community and awakening. When Zaadz was just a wee little network, we found people spontaneously arranging to join together in person... and the very first Zaanghas were born. (You can read more about them here.)

So... I hope you can clear some time in your schedules on September 15th. We're excited to think about what it will be like for hundreds (if not thousands!) of us to come together in communities all over the world to connect in person, and all the more so because these gatherings are going to be YOURS to arrange as you wish. Who knows what magic might happen? You've probably noticed Zaadz has a way of bringing about coincidences. September 15th will be no exception.

Of course, we'll be providing you with a little organizational support. If you'd like to participate in any way—be it by hosting a meetup or just showing up with a smile at a cafe in your neighborhood—pop on over to our Zaangha page. Dave and Jessica (as you'll see) are very very eager to help coordinate.

Exciting, hm? I certainly can't wait. :)

I am so excited to post this Press Release about my new book. It is such a thrill. Please contact me for more info if you have ideas about where to distribute or do book signings. Wow, wow, wow! I promise you a great read!

Love & Gratitude,
Laurie

New York, NY - For Immediate Release: Sex & Happiness: The Tantric Laws of Intimacy

In this book Tantra yoga is explained by a true Tantra goddess. Laurie’s take on Tantra, Tantric sex and how they relate to intimacy will have you laughing and possibly crying – you will definitely look within. You may even find a way to transform your relationships in the process. That’s what Tantra is all about according to Sex & Happiness author Handlers – Tantra = transformation through pleasure!

Book Reviews:

“Terrific! A great time. Growth and awareness, kindled by Laurie’s wisdom and sense of humor, await you.” – Dr Judy Kuriansky, author: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Tantric Sex

“SEX & HAPPINESS puts the innocence an love back into sex and gives Tantra the respect it deserves in the West. Take charge of your life – emotionally, physically and spiritually. A wonderful meditation on the self.” Alan Steinfeld, producer/host: New Realities TV

“Authentic! Handlers offers you a priceless opportunity to ‘grow your love’ in a playful way. Her down to earth style captures the depth and profundity of Tantra. SEX & HAPPINESS will make you smile inside!” - Cynthia Taylor Lamborne, owner: Nectar Products, Tantric Tools for Sexual Healing

Excerpts from Sex and Happiness: The Tantric Laws of Intimacy

“Even after listing sexual expansion techniques, I would still say, “Come to the bedroom with no expectations, but rather with openness in your heart for whatever happens.” And you would probably say, “Yeah, well, if I could do that I wouldn’t need to read this book, now would I?” And you would be right. This whole book is about regaining the unguarded openness of your heart and bringing it to sex.

Have you heard the Zen expression, beginner’s mind? It’s a way of being in the world like everything in it is new. There is no expectation, no pain from a history of hurts and humiliations. Everything is experienced from an alert yet unguarded place. It’s a fresh, open, childlike state of mind. Practicing Tantra is one path to this clear, childlike place, but it doesn’t just happen. It takes work and training to come back to the open and loving place that is our natural state, because there’s so much grief and rage to be dealt with between now and then, so much shame and guilt, and so many ideas about how we should be in love, in relationship, and in sex.”

“Intimacy with someone else requires, first and foremost, coming to peace with your own emotional and physical life. This is not a small task, but it is a crucial one. It takes time and courage and forgiveness, coming from you to you. If you want a love affair that is sexually electric and truly intimate, you have to begin by unblocking and unleashing the sex force that is already inside you and learning to feel safe expressing it, in whatever way feels right to you. In order to do that, fear and rage and grief – feelings that you’ve learned to resist – have to be acknowledged and cleared out on a regular basis, and that alone can be one heck of a ride.

What I’m trying to say is that this whole process is going to take time. It’s going to take some time, a lot of tolerance, and a lot of deep breathing. Fasten your seatbelt and settle in for the ride.”

The chapters are based on the Ten Tantric Laws of Intimacy Laurie Handlers teaches in her Ecstasy Advanced Tantra course. They are:

Law 1: Be Your Own Witness
Law 2: Please Yourself
Law 3: Practice Emotional Release
Law 4: Honor Your Anger
Law 5: Speak Your Truth
Law 6: Set Your Boundaries
Law 7: Look in the Mirror of Your Beloved
Law 8: Practice Full Contact Confrontation
Law 9: Surrender
Law 10: Make Love in the Unknown

In her Tantra workshops, Laurie often begins dinner with desert first so in her book Sex & Happiness: The Tantric Laws of Intimacy she begins with Law 10: Make Love in the Unknown and then works you all the way through the rest of the other Intimacy Laws in order 1 – 9 so that you can arrive back at the sweetest part Law 10. The book is a “how to” look into modern intimacy establishing a new paradigm at a time when 50% of marriages fail. It includes tips, real life examples and chapter summaries for you to follow in your own life.

The book can be ordered at www.butterflyworkshops.com and sells for $19.99 plus shipping and handling. The eBook sells for $14.99. The audio book will be available soon!

Bio: Laurie Handlers is a Tantra Teacher, an intimacy coach, an author, a radio talk show host and a Spiritual Leader. She holds a Masters degree in Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology.

      READY, SET, TETRA-EMERGE!
Integral Life Practice Group Forming in New York City

“My deep intention is that we serve ourselves and each other, meeting our most profound longings for individual and world transformation.”
John Baker, Workshop Leader

I will offer an Introductory Integral Life Practice Workshop on May 27th with a follow up on June 10th. For your convenience, either of these dates can serve as the start of a 6 month series, but the events will differ so it’s worth attending both.

Integral Life Practice is transformational cross training that utilizes physical, intellectual, psychological, and spiritual “modules.” Practices in these different modalities interact, helping to promote the emergence of your deepest realization.

Here are some comments about Integral Life Practice (ILP) from http://www.myilp.com/

“Integral Life Practice is a condensation and distillation of hundreds of practices from across cultures and time. The result: a truly Integral practice that makes sense of the world’s transformative techniques, so you can apply them to your own life immediately to achieve quick and long-lasting results.”

“The Integral Life Practice approach is modular and scalable, which means you can customize a practice that really works for you. If you’re pressed for time, we offer 1-Minute Modules that make it easier than ever to keep practicing!”

“Integral Life Practice is a no-nonsense approach: essential, flexible, and, most all, effective. A transformative path for the post-postmodern world—it’s the simplest practice you can do to wake up!”

Sound good? Please join us for an overview of Integral Life Practice including core modules on body, mind, spirit, and shadow. Auxiliary modules on topics such as ethics, work, and subtle energies will also be explored, along with the challenge of developing each individual’s personal ILP, using the AQAL framework. We will work directly with Integral Institute’s Integral Life Practice kit.

May 27th and/ or June 10th
11:00 AM
690 8th Avenue, 3rd floor
buzzer #3 at the door

suggested (but not required) donation $25

Feel free to:

Drop in and learn more about ILP
(perhaps tentatively penciling in future sessions)
or

Commit to all six sessions, choose an ILP partner, and begin immediately.

The drop-in session will complete at 1:00 PM.

Participants ready to sign up for the 6 session course are invited to lunch at Zen Palate (self paying) for a roundtable discussion of the possibilities this group will co-create.

If you already know you are interested in enrolling in the 6 month process, here’s a way to get started:

1. Call me, John Baker, at 1-646-641-9427 to RSVP or email, letting me know about your wishes and desired outcomes for the workshop and 6 month process.

2. As soon as possible buy an ILP kit http://www.myiplp.com
use the code nyilp to receive a $100 discount! Only $150!

If you cannot buy a kit, let me know right away so I can help you make arrangements to share. Also, if you are willing to share a kit or loan a kit, please let me know. And finally, if you are comfortable hosting a few people working together with the kit between sessions, please let me know.

3. If you want to get off this e-mail list, let me know.

4. If you’d like to volunteer your help in any way—setup, emailing, writing, anything— please let me know.

5. Before the first session in May or June, (especially if you know you’re taking the 6 session course) you may also want to:

Read through the attached Material

Select a journal. (Nice, hand-bound, 8x11 journals are available at Borders for $6.) Bring your journal to the first meeting.

Experiment with an ILP Kit. Do as much as you can and have fun:

- Read the Welcome Booklet.

- Watch the 3-body work-out: 1 min, 10 min, and 35 minute exercises. Try them out; a couple times each is recommended.

- On CD Track 1, do the “Meditation with Form.” Set a reasonable amount of time, (even if 5 or 10 minutes) try it 1-4 times.
(-Then, if you’re able to do even more, listen to Tracks 3-7.)

- Fill out the enclosed ILP sheet and bring it with you the first time. Or, if you’d like more individualized attention, e-mail your sheet to me beforehand.

Note: Write about what you’re already doing, including things you do as part of your day. Finally, use what you wrote to help figure out any changes that might open you up further to your hoped-for spiritual growth.

I greatly look forward to working together with you,

John Baker

Hello everyone! Dree has inspired me to share the upcoming event I am organizing with all of you... This is a perfect zaadster event and if you do come, please introduce yourself afterwards and we can hang from there... I just returned from six months in India and sent the following message out to my friends this week. E-mail me for more info, or just come!

Hi friends. I know we all can't run off to India and ignore our city lives for six months, but you'll be happy to know I'm doing my best to bring a little bit of what I found over to these shores.

Simply put, there's thing called a deeksha, or a "oneness blessing." It takes no more than a minute, is not painful, and has quite literally, metaphysically and emotionally changed my life. And it it very well may change yours. I gain no profit from this, other than seeing all of you-- the lovely people I love-- take a small step towards enlightenment. The sweetest aspect of the entire thing is that it is not restricted to anyone nor does the process follow a specific dogma. You can follow whichever God/Goddess/religion/lack thereof that you like, this is a universal energy transfer toward togetherness. It is as hippie dippy or right wing fundamentalist as you make it.

If you're thinking:
"No thanks... I'm pretty damn near buddha-like myself, thanks very much..."
Cool, no problem.
But if there's part of you that's saying,
"You know, I don't know what this is, and Mags has very clearly become a jasmine smelling whack-job, but she's still kind of a fun gal, and I don't think she'd do anything to lead me astray, even if she does eat a little too much kale for my liking... Hm, this might be an interesting new experience, and isn't that why I'm a New Yorker-- because I want all the diversity and madness that the universe has to offer?"
Then come. Check it out.
What will probably be in sum total an hour of your life in exchange for a path toward divine bliss...? Um, come on peeps... no brainer.

the deets:
Next Sunday, March 11th, 6pm
TACT rehearsal studio
900 Broadway, 9th Floor
(between 19th and 20th)

You will need to lie on the floor for a few minutes afterwards, so if a yoga mat/pillow/rolled up jacket makes you feel more comfy, please bring one.
Drink afterwards, not before, please, and try to abstain from meat that day.

Suggested donation: $10, 2/3 goes to charity, 1/3 to the deeksha giver.
If you really want more info on what this is, let me know and I can send you a couple of websites, but it is intended to be experienced and not analyzed.
Let me know if you're thinking about coming so I know how many to expect, and of course-- bring friends!

love and light,
mags
