Enlightenment has been defined differently by different traditions. One common denominator accepted unanimously is that Enlightenment is about gaining super-consciousness and wisdom. Attaining Enlightenment is a matter of losing one's ego and mind. You are "somebody" now, you have to become "nobody". When you become "nobody" you are "everybody". This is the advantage of losing the ego which limits you. Losing the mind involves mastering and transcending thought consciousness.

Generally speaking, human psychology consists of Ego (the "I" consciousness), Maya (the sensory perceptions) and Karma (the destiny which follows you through many births). Each of the three concepts need to be examined at length to understand the human psychology. The purpose is to go beyond all psychological concepts to experience thoughtless awareness which forms the substratum on Enlightenment.

Dattatreya Siva Baba will introduce classical texts like Siva Sutra and Yoga Vasistha that illustrates the psychological approach to Enlightenment. There will be both theory and practice. This approach uses classical yoga techniques to dissolve the ego and the mind. When you meditate on the shushumna, the central nadi within the spinal column, thoughts will get dissolved.

Dattatreya Siva Baba will introduce 3 to 4 techniques to gain mastery over the mind. The techniques include the use of mantras (divine sounds), yantras (sacred geometrical designs) and pooja (sacred ritual). The Station Project

I am working with a group of artists to convert an old auto repair station into sculptor studios here in New York. Although there are fairly affordable artist studios in various places around the outer boroughs, there are very few light manufacturing spaces for heavy sculpting (welding, metalworking, woodworking, etc.). The site we are looking at is in a manufacturing zone and is a brownfield, since it used to function as a gas station (the pumps are gone, and the underground tanks are said to be sealed to New York City regulations). We imagine the workspace having about five separate studios, an office and a common area for shared machine tools, welding equipment, a slop sink and other amenities. The old parking lot would be transformed (eventually) into a semi-public green space that would also function as a sculpture exhibition space. We are planning to establish a nonprofit organization (as an independent corporation, or possibly working more informally with another nonprofit), which would be dedicated to purchasing and maintaining the space, exhibiting work, and providing apprenticeships to aspiring sculptors, craftsmen and tradesmen. We are hoping to find people interested in helping with this project (regardless of the amount of time you can devote) who have expertise in the following fields:

Commercial/Industrial Real Estate
Brownfield Development
Apprenticeship Programs
Establishing Nonprofit Organizations and Fundraising

The recent film, "The Secret" raised the consciousness of mainstream America. Many have become quite excited, and this is a beautiful thing. But for how long?

Many on the spritual path, especially the prosperity conscious ones, know that "the secret" has been around for a very long time. The yogis and enlightened masters have been sharing this knowledge with us for thousands of years....even today. "The secret" was able to demonstrate the science behind the law of attraction. But science is barely catching up. But it's a good start.

Be sincere with yourself....are you manifesting what your truly desire? Or are you just manifesting what is destined for you since birth? The same old job, same old crappy apartment, failing health, relationships problems, poverty consciousness in the name of being a "spiritual", the list goes on and on.

If at the core of our being we can be conscious of every though and emotion we're haveing at every given moment, then we would not be influenced by karma or the stars. But if we're NOT, and most of us aren't... then what are we attracting to ourseves? It's called your destiny or your karma. You don't want to just intercept it, you want to eradicate it so that you can live a more fulfilling and rewarding life, NOW.

Many spirtual people believe desire is a dirty word. The bottom line is, YOU CANNOT CREATE WITHOUT DESIRE. The masters tell us that there is nothing wrong with DESIRE, as long as you don't become attached to what you want or manifest. Create what you want and share it with others.

"The secret" has brought you this far, why not continue to hear what the enligthened masters have to say....science can only go so far.

Between a thought and your manifestation is a time gap. This time gap can be 1 month long, 1 year long, 10 years long, or two life times. It's different for each of us....that is why someone with good money karma can manifest money very quickly , no matter what they do. This applies to all areas of our lives.

The Siddhas have given us very effective methods to erase our karma. There are also ways to reduce the time gap, significantly. The masters tell us that we should erase our negative programs (karma) before we put new thoughts for manifestation.

The key is to understand that thoughts do not manifest immediately as material reality but most people don't understand the time dynamics.

Siddhas are perfected masters who have transcended ego. Most are enlighterned with supernormal powers. The Siddhas paid equal attention to the bodily existence while one is alive and also the disembodied existence after one dies. They are constantly involved in making the earth plane a better place for the souls who come to inhabit the earth.

There is a two day event in Manhattan on Friday evening, April 13th and all day Saturday on April 14 2007.

I wanted to let you know that Andrew Cohen, spiritual teacher and founder of What is Enlightenment? magazine is coming to give a talk in New York on Thursday evening- March 29th at 7:30pm (Registration begins at 7)-entitled, Evolution is Something You Do.
Most of you have probably heard about Andrew from this site as many of his students are regular participants. It is a great opportunity to hear and engage with an authentic 21st century visionary and pioneer who has spent his life inspiring others to rise up to the responsibility inherent in us human beings for the evolution of consciousness itself. freeDimensional organizes short-term studio and residential space for artists, activists and citizen journalists experiencing censorship, xenophobia and/or economic marginalization. The Center for International Art in Community (CIAC) is administrative office and project incubation space for the freeDimensional network in New York City. --- On the evening of Thursday, March 8th @ 6:30pm, CIAC invites you to an open house at our new office on the 3rd floor of the Magnolia Tree Earth Center (679 LaFayette Avenue) in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. We will be hosting Joao Brandao, a visiting fellow of the International Center for Tolerance Education. Joao founded the Projeto Lingua Solta (Loose Tongue Project) which seeks to transform lives and reduce poverty in the low-income areas of Rio de Janeiro. This year Shim-mey Pecsen donated 7 of his paintings in order for the Projeto Lingua Solta to raise money to build a new classroom. The cost of the building is estimated at $7,000. Pecsen is a well-known social artist producing (oil-on-canvas) works of high quality and style. The open house is a chance for you to view (and bid on) the work of Shim-mey Pecsen and talk with Joao Brandao about Projeto Lingua Solta. Feel free to express interest in a particular painting / CONTACT: todd@freedimensional.org. About the Artist: Shim-mey Pecsen was born on the 25th April 1940 in Peking, China. At the age of 15 he started attending private painting classes with a local master in China. At age 21, Shim-mey's family traveled to Peru where he attended National School of Art for 5 years. Pecsen's family decided to move back to China but they had political difficulties. As a student Shim-mey involved himself in political agitations and several times was sent to prison for his ideas. Traveling around the world, Shim-mey has always been involved with the Human Rights Movements. In 1984, Shim-mey decided to spend his retirement painting and teaching art in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, where he lived calmly until 2003 with his wife and 2 daughters. On New Year's Eve 2002, while celebrating with his family, Shim-mey saw his older daughter killed in front of his eyes by a drug dealer who entered house and held hostage his wife and his younger daughter. After this drastic incident, Pecsen began collaborating with community organizations that fight against violence in Rio de Janeiro.

My First Fine Art Show in New York City

Aloha from a Maui Zaadzster! I just wanted to share the news of my first art show in New York City with all of you New Yorkers. I used to be one myself. I am an established fine artist living on the Hawaiian island of Maui. I lived in New York City for 11 years, and worked as an Art Director in the music and entertainment industries. I moved to Maui 7 years ago and since 9/11 I have been creating my fine art. My work is inspired by spirituality and the beauty that I find in nature and humankind.
