Non-Dual Psychotherapy

The “medical model” – diagnosis and treatment planning – categorizing human behavior – delving into the past, into childhood – therapist as arcaeologist –these and many other approaches to psychotherapy do not seem to fit me anymore.  As a therapist I do not see my role as one of “expert” who is going to help my client fix the...(more)

Collective aspect of awakening

nobody [no longer around] said Oct 11, 2006, 11:09 PM:

Well although I am not a therapist, one thing I figure that may not get much consideration is  collective vs. individual awakening. I suppose the former is beyond the scope of psychotherapy, but it may be a concern for the individual in front of you. If we talk about it in terms of holding presence, then we have to distinguish between a local presence that shows up through interpersonal dynamics from something in a larger context. One might also say the energy is simply different. I doubt this comes up very often but it does exist, would be nice to be aware of it anyway.

What can be more non-dual than a message posted by someone called, “Nobody”?

Might the phrase, “Collective Awakening” be an oxymoron? I mean, while it is certainly possible for the collective to awaken beyond a previous level of awareness, if the collective as a whole advances, then what is or what might be the basis for such a new measurement or comparison? Might the concept of a collective awakening be more of a positive-thinking type of approach?

How the individual in front of you relates to such concepts may certainly be at issue. I notice that a LOT of people put a lot of emphasis on issues relating to the collective when I see the collective as a kind of “end result” as opposed to being a cause, kind of like an unconscious form of intelligence (or lack thereof?).
