SEAWEED ANYONE?

Buffy said May 3, 2006, 3:15 PM:

Sea vegetables are a staple in Asian diets and are becoming more popular in the United States. They are great for people who want to introduce more raw/living foods into their diet. Sea vegetables provide all 56 minerals and trace elements required for our body's physiological functions in quantities greatly exceeding those of land plants.
These are the exact minerals that are found in human blood!

Sea vegetables are a very good source of the B-vitamin folate, and magnesium, and a good source of iron, calcium, and the B-vitamins riboflavin and pantothenic acid. In addition, seaweeds contain good amounts of lignans, plant compounds with cancer-protective properties.

These are some of my favorite things to do with seaweed:
1. Add a small piece of kombu to the water when cooking rice. This imparts all the nutrients to the rice. Yummy!
2. Sprinkle nori flakes in everything! It's a wonderful seasoning and can be used instead of salt.
3. Use nori sheets to make sushi and vegetable roll-ups. Delicious!

What do you do with your seaweed?
