Observations in nature

paul said Apr 9, 2006, 6:32 PM:

I am extremely fortunate to live near the ocean (can see juuuuust a glimpse of the water from my humble little apartment).  The ocean provides so much deep imagery, it's truly phenomonal.  The vastness; the mysterious way of the tides; sea shells; that oh so splendid and unique sound of waves crashing on the shore; the way the sun falls beneath the waters edge.  The ocean grants me great peace.  What a gift.

What observations in nature inspires you and gets your thoughts and meditations going?

Nature moves me. One of my friends is an oak. We met on a bicycle ride not far from my home. I had stopped for a breather and was caught up in her beauty. Soon, every time I would ride that road I would stop at the same place to see my friend. If I were very still she would tell me a secret. I learned to wait patiently for her to speak.

One warm spring day I was lingering under her bows, clearing my mind to receive her wisdom. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. And I smelled it for the first time. It was the smell of the grass in the field just as it is going to seed. A sweet wholesome sweet smell like a far off loaf of fresh baked bred. I touched my friend and said thank you. Got on my bike and rode.

ICESTORMS

I used to fill my van with food, etc for a week's needs & drive in an unplanned direction until I arrived far from any town, or even string of house. I used to be able to do that without driving to far.

One time I drove into the Ramona Hills in southern California, in January, found a parking spot overlooking a tree filled valley with hills in the distance.

The frost was heavy that night and when I woke in the morning there across the windshield was the most exquisite Ice Painting. I sat bundled up just amazed at the beauty. Did not want to disturb it even to clear the window to see outside.

Glad for your subject.
