my name is gelana and i think observation is an important lkey to understanding. People dont take time to just read their surroundings. You can tell so much about how a person is feeling if u just observe. the ability to observe is something i cherish.

      Seth,
Great topic. The Power of Now is a classic, have read various other modern books on the subject and none can beat it.
Being aware of the present moment and breath is the most important thing in life - as the Buddha and most other teachers have taught from the beginning of time.

Hmmmm, never sure what to write in these intros. Well my name is paul, i love the outdoors and nature but would not consider myself an outdoorsperson or 'earthy.' I think the idea for this pod is spectacular because there is so much to learn from the natural process in nature. As we get into the phase of learning from it instead of taking from it we will be all the wiser for it. I'm excited to see the concept grow and learn what everyone has to say.

      Hi,

I'm Graeme, and have recently joined Zaadz ... I live "down under" in New Zealand.

I was curious about this group, as "observation" and the "Self" as observer are recurring themes I've come across in my journeys.

The first thing that springs to mind is the Psychosynthesis technique called the Disidentification exercise, which is generally followed by the Self Identification exercise. The process essentially allows one to step back from mind, body, emotions and observe what is coming up. This is where the Self identification comes in. An example of a disidentification technique is given here: http://two.not2.org/psychosynthesis/exer/ctr-di.htm

Various other "observation" related things come to mind, especially things related to nature observation, for example skills and exercises detailed in Tom Brown jr's book "Tom Brown's Field Guide to Nature Observation and Tracking" where he discusses various aspects of 'seeing' including "wide-angle vision" and "splatter vision" ... external techniques, but useful for a change in awareness.

For me, observing both the external world, and the inner world, at different times, as required can aid immensely in Self-growth work. The hermetic axiom, stated in various ways, that springs to mind is "that which is within, is like that which is without" (although most commonly "As Above, So Below").

Cheers,
Graeme

Hello seekers,

Introductions? What can be said that will really tell you anything? Take a big breath and imagine that I am breathing too. Maybe you are breathing out while I am breathing in but we are both breathing. What a kick! Imaging a huge web of pure energy connecting us all. And in that web there is filament that connects my heart to yours. Feel the life force pulsing? Is it yours, is it mine, is it ours?

Awareness: The first thought that comes to mind is that of a mountain lake at dawn. The catabolic currants that will stir its surface latter are absent, noting but calm, clarity, beauty exist in this moment. Beautiful! It’s going to be a great day, enjoy.

Kim

      + Hi!

+ My name is Seth D8, I am an artist living in Boston MA. I am a true potentiality engineer, always harnessing every ounce of creation I can perceive into molding my world.

+ I love the power of observation, it has not only transformed my life, but the life's I touch with new insight and a gift in every moment. I am able to observe the perfection of every moment through gently building the seeds of awareness which grow into my experience. I use the power of observation to become aware of when my thoughts, words and deeds are becoming misaligned and affecting who I am being. When I gently notice the rhetoric of my mind I gently explore the possibilities to understand the cause. This builds the awareness to facilitate change back into alignment.

+ The word observe means to witness what is so, or at least that is what it means to me.

+ Namaste!

+ Seth D8

+ Join me in building awareness by gently bringing our attention to a different subject each week for all of us to observe and explore. Then we can share our observations here to further build the seeds of awareness, which sprout into our experience then grow strong into who we are being.

+ This week being the first week I believe we should start out with the basics. Let each of us take a step back in our mind and observe our thoughts, words and deeds. Let us gently observe what thoughts arise, creating our words then which we act upon. Of these three which are aligned with who we are being. Let us gently observe which are not aligned with who we are being. Just gently notice and that is all.

+ What did you discover this week are areas causing mis alignment in your being?

+ Namaste!

+ Seth D8

      ICESTORMS

I used to fill my van with food, etc for a week's needs & drive in an unplanned direction until I arrived far from any town, or even string of house. I used to be able to do that without driving to far.

One time I drove into the Ramona Hills in southern California, in January, found a parking spot overlooking a tree filled valley with hills in the distance.

The frost was heavy that night and when I woke in the morning there across the windshield was the most exquisite Ice Painting. I sat bundled up just amazed at the beauty. Did not want to disturb it even to clear the window to see outside.

Glad for your subject.
I am over at http://pods.zaadz.com/soul_partner_honest_friends_open_hearts_rising_above_differences_forgiveness
and

http://pods.zaadz.com/soulstudy_writing

Blessings

Nature moves me. One of my friends is an oak. We met on a bicycle ride not far from my home. I had stopped for a breather and was caught up in her beauty. Soon, every time I would ride that road I would stop at the same place to see my friend. If I were very still she would tell me a secret. I learned to wait patiently for her to speak.

One warm spring day I was lingering under her bows, clearing my mind to receive her wisdom. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. And I smelled it for the first time. It was the smell of the grass in the field just as it is going to seed. A sweet wholesome sweet smell like a far off loaf of fresh baked bred. I touched my friend and said thank you. Got on my bike and rode.

I am extremely fortunate to live near the ocean (can see juuuuust a glimpse of the water from my humble little apartment). The ocean provides so much deep imagery, it's truly phenomonal. The vastness; the mysterious way of the tides; sea shells; that oh so splendid and unique sound of waves crashing on the shore; the way the sun falls beneath the waters edge. The ocean grants me great peace. What a gift.

What observations in nature inspires you and gets your thoughts and meditations going?

Observing people has always been something i've enjoyed. I think it comes from one's natural hunger for spiritual connections with others. I have the fortune to live in a beautiful, very progressive city with some great parks and coffee shops. I don't do it enough, but i love those times. It gets my creativity moving.

For me, people watching and reflection help me to; 1) Stay connected to a world that is so easily distracted by media and a world that, in many ways, discourages community with one another. 2) Allows me to practice honing my sixth sense; reading people and trying to uncover what's underneath all that surfacey stuff. What's really going on. 3)It allows me to believe that under every exterior is both a compassionate lover and a fierce, courageous warrior ready to fight for the good of the earth and humanity. Even the person who appears to have it all together or appears to care only about superficiality.

Would love to hear others thoughts on how the outward lives of others inspires them to reflect.
