Fog1

the fog,

swirling around in a grey

and clinging mist -

a

characteristic smell

pervades the ether..

there is

comfort in the anonymity provided

by this velvet-hued curtain.

head dipped down, making progress

forward in a blindly trusting way

what cannot be seen

cannot be a threat

ne'ertheless,

the curtain has to rise..

eventually;

stark reality inevitably reappears,

 the sharp and vibrant shapes

of the world

manifest, often causing fear

 and

apprehension..

many trials precede

understanding,

myriad reality checks

cause consternation..

eventually however,

with faith and patience,

the reality that lies

quivering

behind the veil

of conceit and self obsession

beckons..

the starkness and inviolability

of the truth

becomes an eternal succour;

the fog no longer contains more

 than merest illusion,

the wizened mind burns

it away to sit more properly in the

blazing light

of understanding and

steadfast Presence.

Hey Kathy!

Thanks, and yes you airbrushesd a smile on me.

There is a computer print of one of my paintings - it is the one of Gauguin with the child mummy beneath his seat. Actually the print is a small portion of a much larger painting of Gauguin that I gave to John O'Donahue because one day I was going to hear him lecture with a bunch of iddy biddy Irish nuns but I was very ill, horribly ill, and moving slowing and they all started shouting, “Sean, hurry up or we will miss John speak! Hurry, Sean, hurry!” And then I looked over to the side, and I saw John leaving the lecture building and walking away hurriedly, so I shout, “What do you mean hurry up? He is supposed to be giving the lecture but he is running away!”  And John smiled at me knowingly. Anyway, inside and listening to John speak like no person on earth could and seeing the very beautiful woman who was his agent, I leaned over to Sr. Eveleen and I said, “John is too alive to be a priest. He will leave the priesthood within a year.” I mean, I would have left the priesthood for that woman.  So, I was thinking afterwords “John is going to leave the priesthood… what will help him?” So, I made the Gauguin painting because Gauguin was always trying to find the meaning of things and he was deeply spiritual in a unique way, and I had the painting delivered to John anonymously. :O) lol

It occurred to me that if we all got together in one room and decided to create something involving paint, craft, textiles, paper, photography we could achieve something truly amazing. But then this is truly amazing, getting together even though we live in different countries, different time zones and creating these groups and showing each other ourselves, our creativity.  These photos would make a beautiful book. You could show the pictures and have something about the people on the facing page.
