Now I Can See the Moon

Masahide wrote the following haiku:

“Barn's burnt down … Now I can see the moon”. Can you see the moon?

We want a life of clarity, freedom, happiness, and deep meaning. We get there step by step by becoming our own person, deeply trusting our own intuition and...(more)

Waiting for Death to call (The Backward Race) a poem by me 1996

Mikey_Dee said Apr 15, 3:37 PM:

Waiting for Death to Call (The Backward Race)

I smile & I dance,

So the tears will not flow,

It's my last chance,

But, I, for now, am the only one to know

that the end is fast approaching, at the speed of Life.

The people who stand

and, cannot understand,

Should I tell, or should I close my mouth?

Inside, I keep all that which can't come out,

I laugh & sing, so I won't scream and shout

Alone, to face the great Adventure

of the Human Race.

Who can go slowest?

Who will be last to cross the finish line?

Time will tell. That most worthy friend of mine.

I'm now a sprinter in this race

against the clock

And will surpass the worst,

it's oh so true.

The last will now be first

and first be last.

I'm going to lose,

So I can be the one

who won,

I'm now just oh so much faster than you

We spend our lives in this Backward Race,

The slowest pace is set by he who'll win,

I know now, I'm not to be the winner of the race:

The last one in

Thank you Meenakshi- I'm sure, that given how well you know me and my Gaia activities (pods, etc) that you didn't miss the significance of lines such as ” I am now a sprinter……”
Bless you for your friendship & support,
M

Loved what you expressed, Mikey_Dee.

I have often said that when we die, our entire life flashes before us - all five minutes of it.

I hope not. It used to be the biggest soap opera. Now its just work sleep eat get on Gaia go to the bathroom photograph stuff.

I always liked coming second when I was a swimmer. You never knew what coming first had in store for you. And I never wanted to come last because that meant there was nothing in store for you.

I'm not trying to detract from what you wrote Mikey_Dee. Your stuff is quite heavy though. What can I say except that I hear you and I believe we all care for you as our fellow Gaian mate.

Thanks for this Mikey-Dee… I like this little tiny, tiny icon…   yes… to answer your question above.  It is a beautiful poem about being the last one in on ending cycles. Waiting for death to call is more of an oxymoron to participating in the race of survival. The poet is pure art speaking futures & all universes to me…
