Thanks for posting the trailer, Kathy. Did you get to see The Way Home? If you did I'd love to hear what you thought about it...

Thank you so much, Mac, watching the youtube video brought tears to my eyes. The Way Home taught me something, too, that I'm pondering now. For me it was about learning to let things be. I guess because of the culture I was raised in I felt obligated as a parent to teach my children by correcting them, especially if what they were doing was hurting someone else's feelings. I felt pretty good about my parenting skills because I corrected my kids with respect and always received their respect in return. And all three turned out to be compassionate human beings, who make allowances for the behavior of others. But I can see now that it might have been better to allow them to make more mistakes to find out for themselves lessons about living with other people. I don't know... I'm not beating myself up or anything, but the movie gave me so much food for thought...

Too often we give our children answers to remember rather than problems to solve. ~ Roger Lewin

      Hi Barbara,

I will keep my eyes open for such a movie.

The Way Home was written and directed by a Korean woman, Jeong-hyang Lee.

Here is a treat for you:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shhblSyE9IE

To me, the movie transcends being a movie. It has been one of my greatest teachers and models to live by.

Mac, I finally got to see The Way Home on your recommendation. I was shocked that the little boy could be so disrespectful to his grandmother and was completely amazed at how she handled him. What a remarkable woman! By the end of the movie I was crying - the little boy's transformation was so touching, even though he was still impatient (human!). I'm still trying to think how families in our culture could apply this approach to life's important lessons.

Tai, I saw Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter ... and Spring a few years ago and I recommend it highly. As a little girl with no brothers I could never understand how cruel little boys could be to nature's creatures - and then I had my own little boy who took a fiendish delight in stomping on caterpillars - thank goodness there are men that can teach them you don't have to be cruel to be a man. The movie's cinematography was stunning!

Mac, Do you know of any Korean movies featuring little girls?

In the movie is also an ice Buddha.

Another Korean film I love, and feel is high spiritual teaching is The Way Home.

http://www.amazon.com/Way-Home-Eul-boon-Kim/dp/B00008K76Y
