Hi Jenny

I had lots of trouble when first posting photos.  I think if the picture is in your photo pages here on gaia that you click on the photo to enlarge it first - then click on the right button of your mouse to copy, close the picture down, come to the group, right click again to paste then left click mouse and “allow comes up on the screen” - press this and post. Allow usually comes up twice on my screen.  Hope this works.
Good to see you here

I would like to share what came to me as I sat in the Garden - hope you all like it. [from my favorite blog of my friend CaitsRaven]

The Wisdom of Trees

A I sit here and just be
I listen to the trees
Whispering to me
The magic of just
Swaying and flowing in
The wind
 No need to try
No need to do anything
Other than be
They whisper louder in
Order for me to hear
Them clearly
They whisper their secret of
Flowing and just bending with
The breeze
Life isn’t about going
Against the wind
Against the flow
Life is about bending
With the wind, flowing
To and fro
Allowing the flow of life
The flow of the wind
Amongst the leaves
The magic of flowing
Of allowing and just
Being
The trees whisper their
Secret of trust
Trusting the wind to flow
Between the branches
Without breaking them.
Life is like the wind
Sometimes the flow is
Strong and we need to
Trust that life won’t
Bend us more than
We can bend
Trust that within
You is all you need to
Be able to bend
To and fro
Like the trees
Allowing yourself to
Flow and trust
Don’t resist the wind
Don’t let life
Make you so inflexible
That when a strong wind comes
You will break with it
You are mighty
And strong
Like  the
Oak Tree.

Mac, I finally got to see The Way Home on your recommendation.  I was shocked that the little boy could be so disrespectful to his grandmother and was completely amazed at how she handled him.  What a remarkable woman!  By the end of the movie I was crying - the little boy's transformation was so touching, even though he was still impatient (human!).  I'm still trying to think how families in our culture could apply this approach to life's important lessons.

Tai, I saw Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter … and Spring a few years ago and I recommend it highly.  As a little girl with no brothers I could never understand how cruel little boys could be to nature's creatures - and then I had my own little boy who took a fiendish delight in stomping on caterpillars - thank goodness there are men that can teach them you don't have to be cruel to be a man.  The movie's cinematography was stunning!

Mac, Do you know of any Korean movies featuring little girls?

Hi Barbara,

The Way Home was written and directed by a Korean woman, Jeong-hyang Lee.

Here is a treat for you:

Thank you so much, Mac, watching the youtube video brought tears to my eyes.  The Way Home taught me something, too, that I'm pondering now.  For me it was about learning to let things be.  I guess because of the culture I was raised in I felt obligated as a parent to teach my children by correcting them, especially if what they were doing was hurting someone else's feelings.  I felt pretty good about my parenting skills because I corrected my kids with respect and always received their respect in return.  And all three turned out to be compassionate human beings, who make allowances for the behavior of others.  But I can see now that it might have been better to allow them to make more mistakes to find out for themselves lessons about living with other people.  I don't know…  I'm not beating myself up or anything, but the movie gave me so much food for thought…

Too often we give our children answers to remember rather than problems to solve.   ~ Roger Lewin
