Now I Can See the Moon

Masahide wrote the following haiku:

“Barn's burnt down … Now I can see the moon”. Can you see the moon?

We want a life of clarity, freedom, happiness, and deep meaning. We get there step by step by becoming our own person, deeply trusting our own intuition and responses, and...(more)

I love the ceiling and the whole feeling of the place, great…

I believe this one was taken in Zante, Greece.

My apologies for being vague.  I really should catalogue my photos better!

Here is another 'flutter by' for you!  (Taken Edinburgh Scotland, for sure!)

That one is stunning. Like a beautiful lady dressed in black and red. Love flutterbys. Looks like the one in Greece is on a bougainvillia flower. They grow really well here in Australia in the warmer areas. Do you photograph butterflies often? Do you have any blue and white ones?

I love this group.

Re: Photos (part 3)

Jenny said Jan 12, 4:34 PM:

When I was 17 I became a nurse and saw the first dying and death of my life. A man I had been caring for some months died. He had been in much pain. On seeing him soon after his dying I was struck by the sense that his body was a cocoon and his spirit had fled. His body was not him so I felt no horror as I expected I might. His cocoon of a body was completely empty.
Then another patient died in my presence and I became suddenly aware of his spirit leaving his body and rapidly moving to a corner of the room. There was a wind and the physical sense of something rushing past me or even through me. Since then when people I have known pass over I get the sensation of them leaving accompanied with the wind blowing through me at that moment. This is a physical thing. I've had lights flicker and sway in this breeze. I feel they are saying goodbye on there way through.

So for me the butterfly is a metaphor for the spirit when it has been released from the bonds of the physical body. The blue and white butterfly and blue and white feather have come to me in dreams. In a dream once a priest enamelled a blue and white butterfly onto the left side of my partially shaved head. It was a powerful dream. In another dream I was drawn up into space and looking in at the top of a vortex I saw a blue and white feather spinning around.

Butterflys and flutterbys

Jenny

Thanks for sharing your heart-warming experiences with the dying, Jenny.  I was with my mother when she died.  She never seemed to accept that she was dying and became more and more reserved as she approached death.  But I sensed a change a few hours before she died - at the time it seemed like a surrender.  She began looking past us as if she saw someone she recognized.  She was clearly focused on someone or something that none of us could see.  She hadn't spoken for a long while and startled us when she quietly said, “I hope they hurry up.”  She died a few minutes later.  For years I wondered what she was looking at or if she was hallucinating or what…
Last year, because Tim's stepdad was dying, Tim's aunt recommended to us the book Final Gifts: Understanding the Special Awareness, Needs, and Communications of the Dying by Maggie Callanan, a Hospice nurse, and Patricia Kelley.  It answered so many of my questions - I wonder if you've read it?  I now think perhaps my mother was focused on someone she knew who was welcoming her spirit.  I definitely have the sense that my mother has been gently leading me along my current spiritual journey, using synchronicity and nature to teach me what I want to know…  She was a bird lover and for a few summers I had a little group of six mourning doves comforting me as I gardened.  I love your butterfly metaphor.

Hi Jenny

It's an ice plant, some sort of sedum - do you want a cutting! - it roots really easily.  It even looks good when the flowers die down and the heads turn reddy brown.  Butterflies and moths really love them…
