Hi - I'm taking a survey of coaches to see how they use online social
networking sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter to attract
paying clients. The results will be included in a new course on how to
get coaching clients this way.

I will share the results with anyone who takes the survey, in case
you're curious how others are using SNS to attract clients to their
coaching businesses. Just add your name and email address to the

It looks like a great start ~ Hard to cover everything, unless you've got a big team. Have you considered crowdsourcing it? ex: Invite like-minded journalists to contribute voluntarily.

Another option is to ask people with popular blogs or large lists to support you by helping to spread your message.

If you're looking to make money, you may want Google ads, etc.

I need your help. I recently established an online publication, so to speak, with tremendous potential to improve our world, but I don't know where to turn to really make it successful.

It is called 2inspire.us (as in, "we seek out the news we can use to inspire us")

The premise is simple: The world is becoming a better place, but, the media focuses on aspects of life that are more financially profitable in the short term (like war and scandal) which will only impede our progress. I feel that the more media sources begin recognizing and praising the people, places, and things that are making the world better, the faster we will grow.

My problem is "making money online" is such a hot commodity right now, I can't figure out how to really make this successful. There are a billion websites promising to make my website famous as soon as I buy their book.

What I am really yearning for is someone to collaborate with! I love people so much! I want to work with a person! And I would love to send that message all over the internet, but so many people are in it for the money; I don't know what would happen to the real purpose of the site.

Hi Scott,

I co-founded a non-profit coaching company this year [ http://www.coachinitiative.org ] and would be happy to talk with you about the steps you need to take to form a non-profit, and what follows afterwards. Most grantors will also require that you become a 501C3 organizations, which is a separate filing than just forming a non-profit corporation. Of course, beyond grants there are sponsorships, fund raising events, and grass roots fund-raising to name just a few. PR will also be hugely important to your effort.

There are also several excellent books that help, most notibly "How to Form a Non-Profit Corporation" published by NOLO and Effective Fundraising For Nonprofits: Real World Strategies That Work

A new passion - need help getting it going.

Hello All,

I have recently returned from a week of building a new house in Pearlington, MS. Hurricane Katrina wiped out Pearlington. Yes, the whole town. The storm took houses down to nothing. Only concrete slabs were left where houses, churches and schools once stood.

Three friends and I went to Pearlington. With help from volunteers from various organizations we built a house from nothing to a weatherproof shell in under two weeks. It was amazing. The people in Pearlington, MS have huge hearts and awesome stories of survival and heroism.

It was a huge moment when we got to give a woman keys to her new home.

We want to start a non-profit organization to do more of this work. I need help in learning how to start a non-profit and how to raise funds to help more people. Pearlington is a start. We are definitely going back. But we're not going to stop there. People are in great need of disaster relief and housing all over the United States. If we can grow this organization we could rebuild all over the world.

Please help us to help others! I seek knowledge, advice, support, funding, and any information you may be able to provide.

Great poem. I had forgotten it - so thank you for the reminder.

The first time I heard this, it brought tears to my eyes, and a feeling somewhere so deep and so indescribable - it could only be the truth. As time has gone by, and we as a family have often stepped beyond what we percieved to be that edge, I have come to know it is so.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - And ..... in the begining was the word, or so the story goes. The great thing about a story is that we can take it and change it to be our own which makes it ever so memorable. My daughters are now in their early twenties all at university, and they all remember with great fondness a bedtime story that I used to tell them about a fox, a story that I do not recall at all, other than it started one evening somehow, and just rolled out in the moment. It went on for months.

I would LOVE to hear your story of what you are intend, and are in the process of creating. I would love to hear about your dreams because in the process of telling - so they will begin to unfold in your experiences.

Such a statement is so very easy to run off the toungue and appear to be some esoteric, airy fairey comment ...... but it is not.

In the begining was the word ........... unless it was not! I have a sneaky feeling that just a moment before the word, was intent, and a thought. What followed, was action and then Creation. Bingo! We have here the three fundamental processes through which each and everyone of us is creating, every moment of our amazing lives - even when it seems not so amazing. As a practical sort of bloke I have played with this concept fairly extensively because my mind, which I value immensely, wanted evidence. I guess along the way I used to get loads of evidence, but just did not pay attention, and it just passed me by. So I would like to share a concrete example from this afternoon of how thought and word under certain circumstances can immediately create, and be experienced in, our reality.

Earlier this morning, in my last blog entry (this is all new to me) I essentially made a conmmitment to allow time for my family, and to KNOW that I do not need to work the hours I did the other day, nor lose my temper, if I get interruptions. So what happened? Within an hour I found myself clearing boxes out from a spare bedroom because my wife wanted to re-organise things. This, at a time when I really was into something else. It was fascinating to observe my emotions and reactions, and to discover trully how much I was commited to that previous statement of intent.

I have a self coaching process in relation to commitments I make, which I use from time to time when it feels right to do so. If I had been using that process I am very happy to say I would have scored myself 9 out of 9 --- and do you know what --- that feels great. On this occassion, I can honestly say I did 'walk my talk', and I am conscious of the commitments I have made today and that I stuck by them.

The universe is just fabulous, but it only appears so when I remember what I have thought, or said or done. The moment I do any of those - up comes an opportunity to practice, and to discover how committed I am, or how true what I thought, said or did is ......to who I am and what I stand for.

I am totally new to this bloggin thing or is it podding thing. I appear to be doing this for my benefit so that I am clear about events and record them for my reflection. I also am doing it so that in being so public I cannot be in denial. Dialogue is so profoundly impactful in what we create.

My experiences, and what I have re-learned, or reminded myself about today, would not have been possible if you, Julia, had not started this POD. Thank you.

Logic might say I have done nothing today to further progress my launch, but it does n't feel that way.

Finally, it is interesting to notice I have joined a POD about PASSION SMASHIN! It was not deliberate - I just jumped into the first one I came to ... but it feels great to be here.

I WOULD JUST LOVE TO HEAR WHAT YOU'RE ALL INTENDING so I can be a witness to it actually hapening.

In this dance called "The Creation Shuffle", to get to step three usually we need to go through step two - 'the word', unless of course you're dancin a hip hop!

Got to go - it seems I'm cooking the tea, and in that exercise I definately need divine intervention!

Wow Pete ~ Thanks for sharing this with us! Reminds me that I have big projects of my own that I could be sharing with this group and I could/would get the support that I need.

Your mention of edges and fear reminds me of something I always tell my coaching students: Diving into your life purpose can feel like jumping off a cliff, but THERE ARE NO HARD LANDINGS!
