What does a Patch mean to me?

Our online “patch” here at Gaia means a lot to me,
as I know it does for all our members.
Today there has been a “rumble” in our patch and I have
done what I can to try and repair that.
I hope our friends can see the love we all share and
pray for peace amongst us all.

Ours is a Peaceful Patch and I hope we can keep it that way?

Did a couple of hours of candlelight last night, looked up and down the road, think there were less lights on, but over here the event wasn't made public.  (to my knowledge)  I received an email from a friend about it, they had heard off someone else, but they hadn't heard anything through the media.  Maybe next year we can make a bigger impact.

Sorry to hear that Tai -I thought it had been bigger, over there?

This is the report from Great Britain….

many of London’s illuminated landmarks such as Nelson’s Column, the Coca Cola signs in Piccadilly Circus, the National Gallery, National Theatre, Hayward Gallery, V&A museum, GLA buildings, and the revolving London Eye will be dimming for the hour. Latest hot sign-up is the Number 2 laser at the Greenwich Observatory…
elsewhere in England, it’ll be lights out at Manchester’s Big Wheel and the Evening News Arena; the Sage, Gateshead, the Tyne and Gateshead Millennium Bridges; Brighton Pier; the Spinnaker Tower, Gun Wharf Quays and Royal Armouries in Portsmouth; and the Triangle, Britannia Hotel, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges in Birmingham; and the SS Great Britain in Bristol
in Wales, Caerphilly and Cardiff Castles will switch their lights off, as will the Millennium Stadium
in Scotland, Edinburgh Castle and the Forth Rail Bridge will be plunged into darkness

It's good about the cities getting into the swing of things, must take longer to filter down into the small villages and towns.  The cities are the major users of electricity so it makes sense that they save power - thought they may have switched the street lights off at least for an hour.

  sandy : Activist and Ambassador

Re:Earth Hour Reports.

sandy said Mar 29, 2:18 PM:

Yes, I guess it does take longer to filter down to the small villages
and towns -hopefully next year there will be more awareness throughout
the entire Country.
The Cities, are of course the major users of power, so glad they did
participate.
But when I saw footage of the lights being turned back on, I could
not help but wonder WHY it is necessary to use so much in the first place?
I am sure the “neons' of the World could reduce their wattage greatly
on an everyday basis.
Just HOW much of it is really necessary?

Hi from Newcastle, Australia -where I am visiting a great new patch/city!
It is so lovely hear -mostly because some of my family are now living here-
but also because it truly is a city/beach place!
The ocean, the beaches, the fishing boats, the wharves -the whole
atomosphere of a city next to the coast- is just wonderful.
The people are friendly -and don't have that harrassed city look on their faces-
they are smiling -they can go for a walk a bike ride a swim or go fishing,
at the end of their day!
I love it here :)

I wish I knew, maybe it's the atmospheric pressure/weather conditions - something a bit weird happened last night, and Dave (drum teacher) noticed it at the same time, he thought he heard something - a noise - as I experienced a sensation in my ears, like there was a pressure exchange between the ears, but he heard it as a sound..
The blossoms will be a bit worse for wear today and the bees will be in bed (:0)

What does my patch mean to me? I must have done something right. Here's a picture of Karen's and my patch on Christmas Day 2008, our dream come true in the shadow of Mt. Hood, Oregon.

All of my working years, I dreamed of retiring to the tall timber.  After finding myself at midlife, I found the perfect mate for me. Everything kept getting  and better. Karen and I retired and lived in our RV for nine years, finally landing here, a paradise to spend our remaining years.

I'm in the suburbs of Montreal, which has been a great place for the kids to grow up. When I need to “get away”, I can go to the riverside (Montreal is an island in the St Lawrence river, so the riverside is not far) and walk around. It's so peaceful there.

Nature's God has given us a beautiful planet. America's Northwest has an abundance of unspeakably beautiful patches. Karen and I were so privileged to have been allowed to leisurely visit nature’s magnificence. After spending years in the asphalt jungle working in stressful jobs, it made a huge difference in our outlook. For us, taking to the road in our RV was the way to go. Here’s a million dollar view taken out of the rear picture window of our Fifth Wheel at Waterfowl Lake in Alberta, Canada between Banff and Jasper.

One of Karen's and my patches was on the Rogue River at Shady Cove, Oregon. We remained parked there in our RV five years. Here's a picture of how the Rogue looked from our site.

We went to a local restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. The owner of the restaurant, a multi-millionaire, visited with us. He talked some time about his exciting life. Besides his palace in Shady Cove, he owned homes in San Francisco and Seattle. I told him we lived in our RV full time. He wondered if it wasn’t a bit crowded. “Not at all,” said I. “I wouldn’t trade our lives. Home is wherever we are.” With that remark, he left us to visit with other guests.

I lived and worked in Dallas, Texas.  I think about 1960 I rented a large tent and took my then wife and three girls on a campting trip to Transfer Park out of Durango, Colorado.  I yearned to some day retire to the Durango area and live in the mountains.

In 1999, the first summer of our RV life, Karen and I visited Transfer Park.  When I was there with my girls, there was only an Indian tepee and pack animals there.  The Indian took people up Burnt Timber trail to see the remains of gold mines.  The name Transfer Park came from when equipment and supplies for the gold mines was transferred from wagons to pack animals. Now there is is National Forest Campground there.  The picture is of Karen on Burnt Timber Trail.

“The tree's majesty opens up inside of me” reminds me of a story my missionary cousin told me. He brought Christianity to jungle people in what was the Belgium Congo.

On a return visit, my cousin discovered a problem in the way the church elders interpreted Christianity. There was this old woman in the village who refused to give up her tree, where she insisted God lived. The elders cut down her tree and she died of a broken heart.

No matter how or where we see God, my cousin pointed out to me, God is everywhere. I agree. There is a sacred “patch” in each of us. I found mine without the doctrines and dogmas, but to each his own.

Crater Lake was formed by a cataclysmic eruption 6,000 years ago. My sanctuary was America’s crown jewel, Crater Lake, Oregon, from 2001 to 2007. We lived near the lake.. We camped at the lake for the night. Thunder resonated through the mountains. A shower sent us to bed early. I awakened before dawn. As it grew lighter, the forest taking on color and depth, the stars disappearing and the sky turning blue, the sun lighting the tips of the trees,

Yet the timeless in you is aware of life’s timelessness,
And knows that yesterday is but today’s memory and tomorrow is today’s dream.
And that which sings and contemplates in you is still dwelling within the bounds
of that moment which scattered the stars into space
(Kalil Gibran),
the resilience of my moment in harmony with nature, if we could all know nature’s beauty, surely we could live together in peace.

It is gratifying to know that I can cause others to feel my experiences in nature. The “patches” we feel, according to Einstein, can be reduced to vibrations. We feel good vibes. We feel music, which reduces to vibrations. When I play my keyboard, I feel the music. My dog doesn’t show me that she appreciates or understands my music. Our human depth of understanding is far greater than other life forms. For the sake of our survival, it is essential that we increase our depth of understanding.

Physicists are now near to putting CERN’s LHC (Large Hadron Collider) into operation, hoping that it will reveal to them the makeup of the universe nanoseconds after its beginning, hopefully that they can know the how and why of everything that is.

We are, individually, colonies of cells, molecules, atoms, and subatomic particles, with minds potentially in control of billions of lesser lives within our makeup. Knowing the how and why of everything could greatly enhance my control over my being. I might never need to see a doctor. Why would I need a religion? There would be no need for government entitlements. By knowing the how and why of everything, my mind would hold the key to every situation and act accordingly.

I can imagine that the establishment would not want us to know the how and why of everything. Low and behold, I now receive the news that in the past few weeks there has been a marked increase in the number cybercriminal attacks on CERN. Coupled with the fact that government is hiding the hard evidence of extraterrestrial entities, and they are everywhere, including over off-limits military bases, and government is powerless to stop them, it must be terrible to be in charge and out of control of the situation.

Peace is just around the corner. It is a step forward if people feel some of my experiences.  Actually, my life is more exciting now than it was when I was living on wheels. My intuition tells me that in our minds we are at the threshold of a quantum leap forward. We’ve about to become members of the galactic community.
