Well- now it is just pouring down here, Tai-
has been for the past 24 hours!!
Flash flooding throughout the City !

Lucky you -with the drumming I mean-
though not sure about the ironing -lol !

N.B Just adding (if it comes through)

which is taking too long to load)

Hi Sandy just saw the flooding up your way on tv. Hope you dont get too wet.
My sister in law Annette and her husband and son are moving to Brisbane soon and we have mother in law staying here until after they move. She normally lives with Annette in NZ. I'm enjoying having her here.

Heres a photo taken in my backyard on saturday night. We had neighbours over and their 3 children and had a barbeque and toasted marshmallows. Was lovely.

It's raining again over here, getting a bit fed up with the ironing - keep thinking I've caught up….  It thundered and lightened yesterday while I was cleaning off the window ledges, gave me a bit of a shock.  Today the ants invaded the conservatory, found some sticky sugary stuff on the cactus and they were loving it!! had to put the plants outside, the rain should wash off the sticky and hopefully drive the ants underground!
Great drum session last night - got a bit hot, learned some new rhythms.
That fire looks good Jenny

Hard to believe that the rain is stopped, although there is more looming-
but for the moment the sun is even peeping through!
It is very wet everywhere, but we were lucky here that we didn't\get flooded out -although a lot of homes were and a lot of roads blocked.

Lovely to hear news of your family doings Jenny- and what a beautiful
fire -how lovely it must have been to sit around with your toasted
marshmallows!!

Sounds like you are getting more than your fair share of rain too, Tai !
Well at least the ironing will keep you warm, if nothing else :)
We too have ant problems, they seem to appear before it rains and
it is hard to get rid of their colonies -just wish they wouldn't invade the
house!

Think the ants are getting fed up with the rain too, that's why they came in!!  There's no sign of them this morning, but I left the plants outside all night, must check them again, the ants were still on them around tea time…

Its pi…ng  down here today and has been all night. The rabbits have gone up into their mezzanine floor. They usually prefer being on the ground. I expect that by this afternoon I will have to drive home the long way home to avoid flooding. theres a flock of cockatoos making a racket.

Re: From my Front Porch/Home 4

sandy said May 22, 12:10 AM:

The rabbits -how cute!
I can see by the weather map and news that it has shifted down your way
now, Jenny -so hope you don't have too much rain!

Gee, when you watch the news and all the coverage they are doing
on the flooding, it is not suprising they had to declare a natural disaster
area. Poor things who were affected the most -up here, at The Gap -
some of them were hit again and don't even have all their repairs done
from the severe November storm we had.

Bet the ocean looks awesome Jen ?

Hope your ants have gone Tai ! Yes, they do come with the rains-
a sure sign, we always say.

still raining here, still no ants, which is good…had more thunder - it's certainly making everything grow in the garden….went sunny for a while late yesterday afternoon, so took a few pictures in the garden.  Drumming today.  Bet you think I'm always drumming, you may be right!

No ants and plenty of drumming -sounds good to me!!!
We have had a few more showers here, though nothing like the
deluge of a few days ago -thankgoodness.
You can almost see the garden growing -though with the cooler temperatures
we are now experiencing, not as much as if the sun was beaming down as well.
How quickly we miss our beautiful sunshine!!

Although overcast, no rain today -though it quite cool -for us!
I have managed to balance things nicely, a certain amount of time
on the computer, and cleaning tasks in between!

Nice little walk down the street and the usual friendly shopkeepers
to brighten up my day-which makes me realise many of us depend
on them, just to have a wee chat and a laugh!

Sorry you didn't get any photo's Jenny -so love the ocean when it
is wild and stormy -though not usually good photo taking days!

Nice to see your sunrise, Tai -though I am suprised at how pale it is?
I guess I am used to the sun, blazing down on us here -lol !

The northern hemisphere photos are ethereal arent they. When I posted one of my photos some time back a few people were discussing whether I had enhanced my photos. I was quite put out. Was wondering why they didnt aske me. I dont do anything to make them look better except cropping. I still get a strong colour though because thats how it is unless its raining then the greens stand out. Have heard people say the light in Aus is brighter or something and having only been to NZ and Samoa I havent seen anything different becasue they are also bright.

I have however been to Central Australia and its even more vivid there. The colours of the earth and sky are unnaturally bright. I had seen paintings done inland before going there and wondered why people always did the soil so red and the sky so blue and all those pinks and purples in the sunrise and sunset. Then I went there. I thought “Dummy” it's cause thats what it looks like. Quite incredible.

Hi - got out my bike yesterday, after a lot of cleaning from a very kind person and rode it round the estate - it didn't see the light of day last year, the weather was that wet!  Think the above was about an hour or so after sunrise - the sun looked unusual and bright - hence the photo - it was a little different, maybe it was telling of a change in the weather…
There has been flooding in Scotland with some roads closed - our friend up there rang us the other night telling us of the bad weather, they are building a log cabin, just putting the finishing touches to it I believe..

Ethereal -yes, that's it Jenny -and I guess that would be why people
are suprised at the strength of our sun -
now if only they could see our sunsets!!

Your friends log cabin sounds wondferful Tai -I have always fancied
a log cabin of my own!

So Nicole, it must be Springtime for you -and Autumn for us -
both seasons can be a little temperate!

Although showers are forecast -at present the sun is out, though
rather cloudy.
I have HUGE line of washing -so am hoping it will stay clear, long enough
for it to dry!

am enjoying talk of the weather. Funny isnt it how its somehow primal. I suppose for thousands of years until about 50 years ago knowing the weather was vital to survival and still is but on a lesser scale since we have the ability to adjust our weather with heating and cooling systems that are more sophisticated than in the past, but it still has a huge impact. Hope your day is happy and weather is the way you need it to be. Sometimes I enjoy a cloudy rainy day.

That is so true -talking about the weather is a somehow primal -
and I too am enjoying it very much-
so much so -i am going to add a weather thread!
It is something we do mention, at least once a day, to at least one
person -and it is always a topic for conversation.
No longer as necessary, as you pointed out, yet nevertheless still
important to us.
Today here in Brisbane, we have only had peeps of the sun and we
all get a little anxious when we don';t have our beloved sun!

I did like the photo too Jenny -you have captured the essense of the day
perfectly !

Closing my eyes and ears singing lalalalalala, I cant hear you!!!

One of my bunnies is a Persian miniature flop eared, Hazel. I've spent the last few days brushing her fur to try and get the matted bits out. When she has had enough she gives me a little nip. Next time she nips me I'll threaten to send her to you Sandy, for rabbit stew.

Re: From my Front Porch/Home 4

I think your rabbit will behave from now on Jenny!  Wouldn't like to think of Hazel as ending up in a stew or a pie!   My cats used to hate being brushed and mum has to cut out the matted bits on Ginger's coat, as she hates being messed with, she getting into her very senior stage now, losing a few teeth and sleeping a lot…

Actually I wouldn't mind having a rabbit or two myself, though
you have to get someone to mind them when you go away.

Speaking of which -off tomorrow for 5 days with the family- and
can't wait -I do miss them so.
I shall pop into Gaia when I can, but hope you all keep the “home fires”

Gee, lucky we had a good home fire on holiday's -cause it looks like the
one here on the thread has become rather cold!
So-here I am back home -after sharing my delightful daughter's front porch!
So much nicer than my own and with such a different view- I was lucky to be able to spend the time there though.
Strange how different all our environments are, when you take note of
them from the “front porch” perspective.

That is why it is so nice to share them, here :)
