How's the Weather?

sandy said May 26, 11:19 PM:

What's the weather like at your place today?

As we have been enjoying sharing what our day is like,
in another thread- I have decided to start this thread-
“How's the Weather?”

It is really interesting to hear what sort of a day we have,
in our different localities around the World.

For me, here today, there is not enough sun and too
much cloud- but at least the rain has gone and it's
not too cold :)

Hi Sandy

It's 7.52am in England, it's dull, heavy grey cloud and a little windy…
We did get chance yesterday to go out for a bike ride in the morning, before it went really cool and very windy, with a few showers.  I noticed the roses were blooming - the sun on Sunday must have given them a nudge in the right direction!

after last week being about 106 so about 95 in unairconditioned room, the rain on thurs was sheer delight! and the next day stayed cool too… it warmed over the weekend, not sure what it got to today, but my room at 2:18 am is nice at 80 with the doors open to let the cool air thru… without looking at the weather report tho, it is still probable that the rest of the week will be about 100, and this is only the beginning and the humidity is low… will be melting here mid july thru mid sept. so not too much change in the desert of arizona!!! the shutters and curtains are all closed up during the heat of the days!!! tell me more details about the winters, altho I dont like cold, it sounds good when I am sweating away! and that's it for tonite folks… enjoy your days! and nites, wherever you are! peacelovelight… and to a variety of climates, what a great idea here! thanks!

Its 8.55pm here and cool not cold. Outside has that fresh damp clean smell of late autumn. The rabbits are digging like crazy, sand everywhere. If they pop up in your garden send them back will you. While they could escape they choose not to at present. Not sure what their plan is, maybe digging north for winter or just renovating. Maybe they just want a cellar to keep their carrots in.

The wind has dropped and the rain stopped. Not sure if the storms are over or just a lull.

It must be boring being a weather guy in San Francisco?
This time of year it's cool ( 55-65) and cloudy (coastal fog) and winter it's cold (45-55) and rain or gonna rain. Of course here if you want hot you drive east and in about 30-40 minutes you go from 55-65 to 80-100 and no clouds.
So today's specifics?
I'm sitting on the 3rd floor of a building in the Mission district of SF looking out to the Northwest, the sun is almost directly overhead and the buildings I can see are tossing almost no shadows at all. The sky overhead is a pale blue fading into a white/gray bank of fog hanging about 10 blocks west of here. The buildings on that end of town are gone, dissipated into the fog. There is a slight westerly breeze slipping through the west-east oriented streets, but the sun is bright and warm. When I look down on the white, slightly rusted roof of the single story PG&E storage sheds just across the street and below, I have to squint because the light is too bright.  In a minute I'll leave here and walk a few blocks to go find lunch and the gray pinstriped jacket unbuttoned will feel just right when the breeze blows into the open front and slightly warm when the breeze is blocked and the sun shines on the dark fabric.

Much like my Arizona neighbor … Sunny & hot here in Las Vegas … around 92ºF upstairs and 88ºF downstairs, and about 95ªF in the shadows outside and its just getting started this morning.

Thankfully, we have some clouds tumbling over the mountains here in the Valley, so it looks like we'll get a bit of cloud relief from the Sunshine so perhaps not getting as hot as it would if those huge billowy clouds did not blow over on the light but steady breeze to visit and bring us just a tad of humidity.

AND, who knows, maybe we will be treated to a lightning show later this evening!  One of my more favorite things about living in Las Vegas!

Too beautiful to lay in bed, I was up at 6am, two lines of washing already drying in gentle breeze, its warm and going to be hot.The ducks are splashing in their pond and sharing their joyful exhuberence, and the poplars are whispering sweet nothings. perfect blue sky here, just before sunset… altho a few pink and purple clouds on the horizon. the crescent moon is shining bright already!
got to 99 I think outside, and when it dropped to 91 we opened up the doors and windows to let the breeze in. it is cooled by the watering of the golf course out back… inside i think is still in the high 80s… so a lovely day in the desert!
the ducks had a party in the yard… 3 females and 4 males who quickly shooed away the extra male. love their squaking and neck stretching and guarding their gals… the other birds were fed earlier too, so they are starting to settle down with their nitely singing/calling  to each other, another day…
and in the other room, roomie is playing the cowboy junkies. perhaps we will sit outside again to enjoy the evening and take a break from the computer as the darkness of nite slowly surrounds us and all is quiet again…
I have no idea of what tomorrow will be, but usually more of the same!

as the gray clouds promising showers blanket our skies, the sun tries to burn through to bring us back to 100ºF+ temperatures, but the water laden clouds have not relented on this second day of relief in the their shadows!  as they take their showers and rain to the rocky mountains, we thank them for holding back the heat rays for another day … and, just so they know, if they wanted to, we would really enjoy a rain shower here in the nevada desert too and would welcome it with open arms and a splash dance too.

In Mpls, MN in the upper midwest( we use to be the Great Northwest when I was a child until somebody admitted that Seattle really deserves that moniker) it is gorgeously sunny, cloudless, with a constant following breeze out of the nw keeping the 80's temps feeling like the 70's. We had rain in the early overnight hours and the winds are chasing the weak low front. Rare to get a cloudless afternoon so all the more stunningly sunny. Out to do yoga and meditate in it.
And I just want everyone to know that I am very, very proud to be from a place that prides itself in being nice. MN nice.

Hi friends,

Wheater report from the Netherlands, at least the western part which we call Holland. It's been very changeable, last week terrible wheater, heavy thunderstorms with mansoon like rains and chilly wheater and the last copple of days it's just been perfect. To me perfect is warm, nice warm not to hot: like 24-25 Celsius (mid seventies F) .There is a firm breeze, but it keeps it nice. Sat out on a sidewalk terrace and got some sun, while my daughter and friends went out swimming in the lake.
To me this is the kind of wheater i'd like to have all year around Lol. Not too hot, so you can still DO things. When it gets really hot over here it's usually also very humid, which makes it hard to bear. We're gona have a copple more nice days but by wednesday it's drop again low until around 16 C. (60 F) which is too cold for the time of year but to keep a positive outlook: good wheater to work in the garden.

Here is a temp converter for convenience :

What a lovely lot of posts since I last looked in. Its still overcast and cool here and about 15' C. I'm enjoying it. Finding it restful after summers heat, not that it gets as hot here as it did in Canberra when I lived there. Canberra has a dry heat which I like. Here on the coast its humid and can be even in winter. I dont enjoy the humidity so much.

Here is another photo of the lagoon, showing how it carved a big section of the beach out after the waves came in and let it go free.

Its 6.30am and very dark still and raining solidly most of the night. Hope the bunnies dont float away. Had them in the garage for a few nights and thought it would be less wet last night. The holes they dug have filled up with water so they have a swimming pool in their back yard. They seem pretty snug in their mezzanine though.

Its funny Sandy how the sand gets carved away but here at least in another week or two it will have all filled in again. Gets shifted from place to place and back. I think its when we start building structures, houses etc on the dunes that the balance is interrupted and it washes away in storms never to return.
The earth has an amazing ability to self heal given the chance a bit like our bodies. I think sometimes we get in the way of healing. We need to have faith in the self righting aspects of the earth and life in general. We probably interfere too much.
