From my front porch (or favourite place) 6

Have a favourite “spot” at your home ?

I have never seen any hummingbirds in England, mores the pity!  I have a wisteria which grows through the eucalyptus tree, it too took a while to get going and flower well, it was good this year, then the weather changed to dull and wet, so the flowers got “spoiled” really quickly.

I enjoy sitting by our pond in the summer

What a lovely seat to sit upon Tai -in the summer months!

I am sharing my little front porch at the moment -my family is staying with
me and it is such a delight to watch the little ones play.
They have been making birds nests and little bowls for the lizards to sit in-
so my front yard is a much more cheerful place!

That sounds wonderful Sandy - have you and photos to share of the porch and the little bowls?

My back patio is still covered with branches from the eucalyptus after its “hair trim” - it's going bit by bit, there was rather a lot to cut off this year with all the rain.

I had a pot with sunflowers in by the seat, great place for the bees, took loads of bee photos this year - think the population must be on the up now!

Looking forward to your photos Sandy and thanks, the colour has come out well on this one, I take so many shots, then maybe one or two come out OK

I love having family and friends over too, and when they're gone everywhere is just so quiet!

Yes, so terribly, awfully quiet!
My family has gone home, after 2 wonderful weeks and it is going to
take me some time to get used to not having them with me again.
I am feeling so sad and my little porch is so lonely :(

Hugz across the ocean and may the time fly by until yours/their next visit.  I was reading the Divine Matrix last night and the chapter was all about time - when we are busy and happy our days seem to be shorter, when we sad or lonely the days seem to stretch into eternity….

“Time is what prevents everything from happening at once”
John Wheeler - physicist

Time is…
Too slow for those who Wait
Too Swift for those who Fear
Too Long for those who grieve
Too short for those who Rejoice
But for those who Love
Time is not..

Henry Van Dyke

Thankyou so much for your hugs across the ocean -
your words and quotes on time and the photo, Tai!

I shall try and focus on the next time I am with my family and
get back into my own home mode!!

My front porch shall be my happy memory and I shall try not to
let the dryness of my yard and plants get me down!

Families are so precious, I hope you can share time with yours again soon.  Australia is such a big place compared with England!  I used to miss my family such a lot too when living at a distance.

The trees are losing their leaves here and there is so much colour

Yes, our families are the most precious of all and it is true -
Australia being so large- our distances are so great.

I did notice a big difference when some of my family moved to the
next State even , after being on the other side of the Country!!
It doesn't feel so bad as it did then -everytime I looked at the weather
map in the evenings -my heart would sink at the distance between us.

Lovely photo Tai -must be delightful over there -not barren like here!
I did utilise some of the leaves from the back yard that were blown down
in the recent winds -and have used them for mulch in the front yard.
However they are dry and dusty and brown!

Back to my own little front porch -after the most wonderful family visit -
and a beautiful big deck for a front porch- to sit with my loved ones ;)
How little and lonely mine seems now!!

The leaves here are turning all mushy with the rain now…haven't been able to sit outside for sometime with the weather as it is, eventhough it's very mild, it is very damp and the garden seat so uninviting!

It's good to have the rose pictures from the summer to look at and make into “layered” pictures - sort of like gardening, but you get to sit indoors where it's warm!

I took this photo driving to Canberra last thursday. It isnt my back porch but I lived in Canberra for 18 years and I know the road like my back porch. Just past here is where I start to feel like I'm in my old backyard again.

I know what you mean Jenny….There is a certain point when coming home from a trip out, where it's like I'm nearly home and you start to relax from the trip..Part of your “heart” is still in Canberra… Your roads look so straight just like our dual carriageways and motorways.  Most of the rural roads are very winding and up and down, loads of small hills here, although Cheshire is pretty flat due to it being a glaciated valley - lots of small farms - lots of cows!

The hydrangea bush in my back garden has so many different colours throughout the summer and autumn, it reflects nature's cycle from from fresh young shoots in the springtime to almost skeleton like flower heads in the following year…
