People Potential

When people push past their limited thinking, they're able to do some incredible things… at least incredible if you haven't attempted to 'go there' yourself!
Everyday there are stories of these people, that when you realise the possibilities, you just have to look at yourself, shake your head and say, “Wow! If they could do that… then what could...(more)

Dr Corder's Perscription Cure for Depression

"Mudge" said Oct 13, 12:15 PM:

You may have seen the feature on CBS News about 12 year old Aaron Ware and his Cookie Company to benefit Cancer Charities.  That is a good story, but not what I think is so incredible.
Aaron's identical twin brother contracted cancer and after a brief struggle died.  Aaron fell into a profound depression.  His Doctor, Marylin Corder asked him what he liked to do.  He mentioned baking, and so she wrote him a perscription to start his own business and gave him twenty dollars as his first investment.
Dr. Corder got him thinking outside himself.  Service to others gave him a purpose.  It's exciting that Western Medicine can occasionally step outside its own rigid thinking and come to such an elegant and simple solution instead of a regimen of drugs to treat the symptoms.

This is so NOT what I was expecting to see here.  I was expecting some lengthy discussion about prescription drugs, and the evils/benefits thereof.  How refreshing to see a complete 180, and hear that this doctor took the opportunity to demonstrate that “thinking outside the box” can deliver the optimum result.  Gets me to wondering what “unboxed” solutions I might could come up with to resolve some of my own challenges ….

Thanks for sharing this, phil.  A moment of inspiration.

Another not-quite-so-inspirational take on *thinking outside the box.  (grin)

*insert standard cautionary disclaimer for those of delicate sensibilities

One of the staples of military life was “Johnny” stories.  I know a million of em.  It's hard to find one that I can share here tho.  I'll have to mail you one.
