I am pleased and honoured to be invited to teach a workshop in BellatesTM (Pilates for Bellydancers) at this year's Tribal Quest North West in Portland, OR August 1-5, 2007! Check out www.gypsycaravan.us/tqnw_main.htm to find out more details as they are made available! Hope to see and meet some of you there!

Wednesday, August 1, 2007 Bellates(R) (Pilates for Bellydancers)
4:30 PM
Having an extensive musculoskeletal anatomy background as a Licensed Massage Therapist, in addition to being a lifelong dancer (ballet, tap, jazz, modern, middle eastern, folkloric and Irish), and a classically trained and certified Pilates mat instructor; Bhrigha developed and trademarked Bellates!TM (Pilates for Bellydancers.) This truly unique class will really improve your dancing! You will learn to connect to your core, tone and strengthen your powerhouse, lengthen and elongate for a lean body, as well as learning proper bellydance body mechanics, stomach isolations, authentic belly rolls, proper breathing techniques, and basic bellydance moves done on a yoga-type mat. This class is challenging & open to all levels and assumes the student can get up and down from mat without assistance. DVD's will be available for purchase.

My husband and I will also be performing one night as well - waiting for the schedule!

Bright Blessings,
Bhrigha

I've been away from Zaads for a while, but I'm back now and looking to make this a productive little pod. I've updated the boards and would love to hear from you, so feel free to start posting Pilates stuff. :-)

Bright Blessings,

I just got my Intermediate mat certification from Power Pilates! I can't wait to continue and learn on the machines. If anyone is interested in studying a classical format, check out Power Pilates at http://www.powerpilates.com. They are based in NYC, but have affiliate studios around the world, and boast founders Dr. Howard Sichel and Bob Liekens, as well as many other high-quality instructors who studied with Romana.

Pilates saved my dance career. After being injured in a car accident caused by a drunk driver who had no insurance and my own PIP insurance ran out (in Florida there is a cap at $10,000), I could not afford physical therapy, since I couldn't work as a massage therapist or dance due to my injuries. I bought a DVD on Pilates and started doing it. To my amazement it really helped aleviate my pain and started helping me lose the weight I was gaining from not being able to dance. I decided to get certified and it has totally changed my life. No wonder so many dancers have turned to this excellent exercise and fitness regimin! Thank you Joe!

I am a classically trained and certified Pilates Mat Instructor working towards full certification. I am also the originator of a hybrid Pilates form that I trademarked and am making a DVD called "Bellates(TM) Pilates for Bellydancers."
