An article in new issue of Integral Leadership Review. I collaborated and experimented with Patricia von Papstein about it. And wrote a personal conclusio too:

Ready to PLay the Integral Way?

This is a GAME that the Surrealists used to play. It is called Exquisite Corpse or, in the original French, cadavre exquis. Read about it at Dryad's Blog HERE.

These bizarre compositions were explained by Nicolas Calas as revealing the "unconscious reality in the personality of the group."
Now THAT ought to be INCREDIBLE!

I am going to announce this to the Pod after the Holiday's. Meanwhile, if you find it just from looking or from reading Dryad's Blog and you want to play - come on in!

This will be fun to play with words too. I'll set that one up after the Holidays. This is the Game that involves DRAWING.

We are going to try out two methods and see which one works best.

Exquisite Corpse - Drawing

I’ve begun both METHOD ONE and METHOD TWO, so they are ready to carry on if anyone wants to play.

I’ve tried to make this as like the game played by the Surrealists as possible. You have probably played this game as well, using a folded paper. I think this is the way to do it, under one thread, each drawing using REPLY TO POST. If it doesn’t seem to work we can switch it.

There are two methods of Play here. I really don’t know which one people will like. METHOD ONE is more complicated, takes more time, but seems more fun to me because you have to wait and you are working off the actual neck & leg openings just as if you were using a piece of paper.

The METHOD TWO will be faster and still funny. It will be less complicated to understand, but could GET complicated in practice. We can try both methods & see which you like.

METHOD ONE:
The first person begins by drawing by doing the head. They will keep that on their own Hard Drive and not post it. What they will post is the bottom of the neck so the person making the torso can pick it up from there.

1st Person - THE HEAD:
1. Under the “Exquisite Corpse Drawing” thread, reply TO THREAD and claim the right to begin a new Exquisite Corpse, and claim the head.
2. Draw/paint the head using either paint/photo shop program or by hand
3. If you have done your drawing by hand, scan it to your Hard Drive
4. By using either paint/photo shop program or by hand & scan, show JUST THE NECK OPENING and post it waiting for the next person to claim the tummy.

2nd Person - THE TUMMY:
1. Under the head that you would like to continue, reply TO POST and claim the tummy. Remember, all you will see is the neck opening at this time.
2. Draw/paint the tummy using either paint/photo shop program or by hand
3. If you have done your drawing by hand, scan it to your Hard Drive
4. By using either paint/photo shop program or by hand & scan, show just the leg opening(s) and post this by replying TO POST under the head you are continuing.
5. If will probably turn out, in practice, that you can claim your body part and post the picture with the leg opening(s) at the same time. Or you can do two posts, remembering to reply TO POST under the head you want.
6. The post now waits for someone to claim the legs.

3rd Person - THE LEGS
1. Under the tummy that you would like to continue, reply TO POST and claim the legs.
2. Draw/paint the legs using either paint/photo shop program or by hand
3. If you have done your drawing by hand, scan it to your Hard Drive
4. By using either paint/photo shop program or by hand & scan, post your ENTIRE PICTURE of legs by replying TO POST under the tummy you are continuing.
5. You are now waiting for the person who did the Tummy and the person who did the Head to come back and build their parts on to yours to complete the Exquisite Corpse. Send a message or Grape-Vine to the Tummy Person telling them that it is time!

2nd Person - THE TUMMY
1. When you get the message from the Leg Person, come back to play pod, get the legs and, again, using either a paint/photo shop method or by hand & scan, add your tummy to the legs and post this.
2. Send a message or Grape-Vine to the Head Person telling them it is their turn.

1st Person - THE HEAD
1. When you get the message from the Tummy Person, come back to play pod, get the mixed picture of legs and tummy and using either a paint/photo shop method or by hand & scan, add your head.
2. Using either a paint/photo shop method or by hand & scan, add your head. The Exquisite Corpse is now finished!
3. Using REPLY TO POST, Post the completed Exquisite Corpse to the end of the same POST line that you have been using.
4. Also post your completed Exquisite Corpse to the EXQUISITE CORPSE GALLERY.
5. It would be nice here to drop a line to The Tummy Person and The Leg Person and let them know that your Weird & Wonderful drawing is LIVE at the Exquisite Corpse Gallery!

The “EXQUISITE CORPSE GALLERY” will be like a very strange art gallery, where folks can stop off and be entertained and made happy by weirdness.

At any time, you may also begin another Exquisite Corpse by beginning a new thread, making the head and send it out waiting for a tummy.

Thus end the directions for METHOD ONE.

METHOD TWO:

This would consist merely of different people sending different parts three different threads, SO THERE IS A THREAD FOR HEADS, ONE FOR TUMMIES, ONE FOR LEGS. SEND MORE OF EACH ITEM BY REPLYING TO POST. Anyone could send any part, whenever they want. A Moderator would watch it to be sure it happened, but anyone could take three different parts - Head, Tummy, Legs - and put them together to make an Exquisite Corpse, which they would then post immediately to the EXQUISITE CORPSE GALLERY.

This method would make it easy to mix and match different heads with tummy’s different legs etc. You could do the same thing with the other method, but this one would lend it’s self to it better.

Neat. It seemed too simple and common sense. With minimal cuts and minimal increased taxes and even increasing military divisions to least tax our troops. Budget entirely in the green and increased universal healthcare and better education and green energy. There has to be something getting in the way to keep government from taking away help and not penalizing companies who are lazy and mess up our world for many reasons. Fear sucks!!! :)

Hey, Samme - this was surprisingly fun - especially repealing the Bush tax cuts and bringing the troops home quickly - amazing what a difference those two shifts make in the overall bottom line [wry grin]. Thanks for posting this! I am still working on my "Budget Hero" badges for health and wellbeing and energy independence - but I did push back the bust several years and reduce deficit spending quite a bit.

Thanks for posting this! Speaking of creativity ... [g]

love and hugs -

Sylvia

Budget Hero

Budget Hero is an engaging and
journalistically sound game that encourages players to think through
the complexities and challenges of the federal budget and the major
policy issues of the 2008 election. It frames the policy debate as a
set of federal budget choices determining how money will be raised and
spent. Budget Hero forces players make tradeoffs and confront
compromises inherent in balancing a budget. Can they be Budget Heroes
by staying true to their values while creating a sustainable government?
