The Poet with the Soul of a Scientist

Science changes the world, mostly for the better of most.  The ancient masters are interesting, but they couldn't know what we know now.  How do we integrate useful knowledge with essential thought?

The use of metaphor has helped me grasp some complex concepts. I hope this pod will become a meme-swap, a grok-opolis, a gnostitorium. I'd like...(more)

If we assume scientific theory is valid (and such meta-thought can go here too) what does that mean for spirituality or divinity?

Mirror Mind Metaphor

Etceterist said Jul 25, 2006, 9:35 PM:

Not one mirror, but two, one for each hemisphere of the brain.

This came back to me after finding a new pod to post to.  The third of only three that were tagged with 'science' but that's a metamessage.

I was reminded of my mirror mind metaphor.

Stand between two mirrors.  No, this isn't one of those, 'now try to take a picture without the camera in the shot'.  Two mirrors, facing each other as parallel as you can get them (although this doesn't really matter in the long run).

Now try to see behind your head.

Sure looks infinite and (ignoring light degradation from cheap mirror surfacing) might as well be, but you'll NEVER see it!

It's like that inside my head (and maybe yours too, but I'm not confident enough to speak for others).  There are two Hubble class mirrors compacted inside me.  Usually, they reflect what's going on outside my skull  but when I aim them at each other, I get the same effect as standing between two mirrors.
