Zephyr Asking folks to remember guidelines, 2 comments on other poems per one post of your own pretty please.! It is possible to learn a lot by considering other peoples poems and it will help your own poetic craft. Don't be shy,and stick to critique of the poem - not the poet., if you are new to critique, just share what you liked and what worked for you in the poem, and anything that did not work for you. Celebrate May's full moon

Zephyr said May 20, 4:37 AM:

May UK Milk Moon US Flower Moon, More names -
Corn Planting Moon, Corn Moon, Hare's MoonBuddha Poornima

These are different names for May's new moon, to encourage ideas. It is quite a challenge to write an original poem about the moon, so much has been written about it, so try to avoid cliche, and look at it from a new angle? Tips for poetic technique lower down these threads. Consider form, mood and rhythm, then bring your own unique skills to the process. Anything goes it could be a haiku including a moon name, which gives it a season word, or something longer. After 2 weeks please feel free to put your challenge poem in finnished poems or crtique for comment.

What Checkhov Never Knew
(The cherry orchard by night)

A Beltane moon waxes.

Soon summer will arise to trail her
dress of green upon the land.

But here the cherries dangle darkly in the half-light silver
as I fill my billowed shirt and listen for the farmer's dogs.

This unearthly twilight forage,
with shadow theft,
made ever more savage by the hour,
speaks of formal contritions mouthed if we are caught.

I catch the twinkle in your eyes as we steal away.

These stolen fruits will stain my tongue.
Reddened lips will taste your warmth as
we share what cannot be bought.

The fullness of that lanterned orb speaks
easy warmth as with you I slide unerringly to a static kiss.

That morning redness ring a reminder of
our delinquent moonlight scavenge hunt .

Inconstant moon

that nightly changes, subtle and bold,
a pale ghost or a beautiful beacon

The moon rocks - a vibration of light
shimmies down a stream and swims over

moonstones. A breeze ripples silver
on a waterglass face. On wings of dreams

I fly moonbeams through an indigo sky
moonlight steals the landscapes colour

leaves varius greys, white and silver.
I gaze long, sea change to blueshift

Long bony fingers of pine and the owls
hoo to wooo pierce the quiet of night

Dark trees huddle in silhouette as moon
paints highlights. Angel trumpets blow

climb moonflower vines and pampas grass
wafts eerily in this garden serene.

I watch bemused as several bats write
heiroglyphs on this moonlit scene
